Ramen lacked flavor and was not creamy at all (tonkotsu) but the katsu don and chicken karaage was decent. The katsu was well cooked and had some flavor, and the karaage was crunchy and equally well cooked.

Matsui has my favorite classic pork katsu with curry in the DFW area. They are remarkably consistent with their food quality, taste, and portions. Always freshly fried to a beautiful crispy golden brown. Always an adequate amount of meat. Lots of rice, hot and tasty noodles. The list goes on.Please give Matsui a try if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed. As a bonus, their weekday lunch specials are a great value, with a 1/2 serving of the entree and an included bowl of hot/cold udon/soba with rice for the price of a full size entree only. I've gone for lunch about five times at this point and have always left full and satisfied.Outside of standard mealtimes, seating is easy to get, especially around weekday lunchtime. During mealtimes the food court can get pretty busy, so seating may be a challenge.P.S they do have a small additional charge for takeout orders to cover the cost of to-go boxes and utensils. Not a dealbreaker but can be annoying if you aren't anticipating it.Parking: Plenty available during lunch during the week. Closer you get to dinner or on weekends the less parking there is. Weekends can be particularly difficult to find spots.

Love my pork curry katsu don ? curry is good flavor (I asked for spicy) and not the sweet type; pork katsu is crispy and nice texture; generous portion. Will come back for

This place has been going downhill. Ordered curry and chicken katzu set, it took them over 20 mins for the food, while other people behind us with the basically same food got theirs. When I asked them why it was taking so long, it told me it takes time making curry while the chef kept pushing curry dishes out for people ordered after us. Also, the miso soup has no flavor at all, it's too watery. How hard to make miso soup right?

Maybe the issue is I just got back from Japan and the fact I was born there but this place was a disappointment. The first was a process issue. They wait to get the whole order complete before they call your number. So my wife's tendon which has fried tempura came out first. By the time we noticed it was on the counter on a tray it had been at least 7 mins. We went up and got it and the tempura had already started cooling off and as you know cold tempura is not tasty. I had the chicken katsudon and unfortunately the chicken was tough. It was palatable and I generally don't return food but I will probably not be back. My miso soup also was served in a bowl that didn't have all the soap washed out of it. Bummer!

Found food in hair, food taste okay. Curry with pork with spice but like it's average and pricey for itself and to find hair in the middle of my rice bowl. Smh

Cashier was kind and the food was delicious! I loved the variety of side dishes, very well rounded meal overall. Mackerel is my favorite fish :)

Matsui reminds me so much of being in Japan - the products and atmosphere do an amazing job of creating the look and feel of a Japanese mall. There are some fantastic restaurants in here, and lots of little shops with books, toys, and more. This seems to be the official place to play the One Piece card game, which I'm not familiar with, but if you're looking for a place to play One Piece, there was quite a crowd on a Saturday. The food was top notch, and while some of the imported products are pricey, the feeling of stepping into Japan makes it very worthwhile.Highly recommend checking this place out!

The cashier was super nice. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, non-spicy. However, the curry was a bit too sweet for me and I should have gotten the spicy version. I was reminded of brown gravy. The chicken katsu was nicely breaded and hot though. Takoyaki was ok. I would come back to try another dish.

This place it’s not what it used to be anymore. The service was terrible. I ordered the chicken katsu don and asked why it didn’t have the eggs like the picture (as it used to be). They said you need to pay extra if you want more eggs.
