“Walking into the place, we had low expectations. No one was there, and it was in the middle of nowhere. The lights were also turned off, but we were greeted nicely, and they turned the lights back on. We ordered the three meat plate (ribs, sausage, and sliced beef) and the chopped beef sandwich with a sweet tea. The tea was exceptional, southern comfort at its best. Our meal was over portioned for a very cheap price, and we walked out with food-coma. Our tummies said to go back, but we aren't sure if our hearts can handle it.“

“Absolutely phenomenal. I got the katsu fried chicken with curry sauce and it was quite a large portion, super fresh, and so yummy. Mac salad was delicious and the spam musubi was my favorite. I only have Hawaiian Bros to compare to and L & L is definitely superior. 10/10“

The garlic parm is out of this world, my husband got the Louisiana medium and really enjoyed them. That is going to be our go to wing place. So much better than pluckers and wing stop.“

“I was visiting Waco for a business trip and my colleague found this place. We decided to give it a shot and were very happy that we did. The barbecue was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Overall a great atmosphere and good food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back next time in Waco.“

“We visited here last week and searched for the best hole in the wall location we could find. Chute 4 is what came up. And we are super satisfied with our decision! The Brisket was fantastic! The service was great. Our Kids ate free. The owner was friendly and talked bbq with us and about his time in service in the US Army. We look forward to our return to Waco one day to visit this restaurant!Kid-friendliness: Outstanding place to bring your children as they eat free! Each child had plenty to eat.“

“We were on our way from San Antonio to Fort Worth and in the mood for BBQ for lunch. Looked up on Google Maps a place for good BBQ on our route. We originally thought we’d stop at Buc-ee’s for a quick sandwich, so glad we decided to try somewhere else.We ordered the two meat plates each. Both of us got the ribs and one got the brisket and the other got the sausage. Side orders were the beans, potato salad and cooked cabbage. All three sides were over the top delicious.The meat was smoked excellent. Love when the meat falls off the bone. The BBQ sauce was phenomenal.Nabota “Bot” Hilliard & Drea we’re the most pleasant folks and helped us with our decisions to satisfy our taste.Highly recommend Hillard BBQ. It was the best choice we could’ve made.“

“I was just there with my group of 20kids , and I got to say the brisket frito pie was amazing. The pecan pie is soooo sweet you can tell it’s homemade I,would recommend coming here you won’t be disappointed.“

“I stopped by yesterday since it was on my way home from College Station, and I definitely will again! The mac was made quickly and tasted amazing, as did the cheesecake. I warn you though, they aren’t joking about the cheese moving through your intestinal tract like a runaway freight train. I eat dairy with every meal and after a hour on the road even I had to start speeding up to 15-20 over the limit to find a rest stop. Unfortunately a police car found me first. I feel deep regret for the officer that allowed me to poo on the side of the highway. TL;DR: Food was great but made me poo on a cop.“

“Service was quick and more than satisfactory. They have the best bbq and bbq sauce in all of Texas. And got to sit outside with my meal the atmosphere was calming. It was a bit pricey so I think they could come down just a little but it definitely didn’t disappoint!Parking: There were plenty of spot close to all 3 entrances! They had parking for the restaurant part and for the gas station part.Kid-friendliness: The kids that were there seemed to be enjoying the food themselves.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes 2 ramps for wheelchairs this place is also a gas station.“

“Every place in town is trying to recreate what Nathan has done at In The Woods with his BBQ. The meats are fantastic and the sides are worthy of a meal in themselves. The presentation is on point and Nathan will take good care of you. My husband and I enjoyed a great conversation with Nathan and his daughter as well. A wonderful experience. Easy to get to, good parking, and the best BBQ!! I highly recommend.“
