Stopped in for breakfast while traveling. Food was delicious. I had an omelet and my husband had bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy. We would definitely go back. Highly recommend.

From a first-timer point of view, the place is small. The food was OK, the eggs could use some flavor. I got blueberry pancake and a blueberry muffin, both items had an excessive amount of blueberries in them. The good thing is that they use real blueberries. The muffin itself was good once I was able to take some blueberries out.If I come back, I definitely want to try their Guatemalan pancake and their pumpkin cheesecake muffin just to see if maybe things will taste different. The service was great, I had no problem with anyone and we got what we needed at our table.

We enjoyed a very satisfying breakfast after a short country drive from Georgetown. We were looking for a country atmosphere and got it. Very comfortable interior, kind staff and good food. Glad we came.

We stopped in here for breakfast on the way home from our Airbnb, and we were seated immediately upon entering the diner. I love the ambience it gives you the feel of real old world diner, with fresh baked cookies and pies to boot. The portions are large, although my BF had no problem, finishing his everything omelette. It was loaded with meat to the point it couldn't be contained by the egg. It was served up with a side of house made salsa. I had the quiche and what a good quiche it was. It was eggy and creamy...I can still taste it. I opted for the chai tea latte with coffee added (a nice twist on the original). All in all it was a great experience. They're only open for breakfast/brunch (closed on Mondays) so be sure to stop by early. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Salado.

Terrible all around. The service was horrendous and the food and drink was mediocre at best. I highly suggest avoiding this place, your money will be much more valuable elsewhere.

This place is an absolute gem! The food was fantastic, and the staff is so pleasant and genuine. If we move to this area, we will become regulars.

Very disappointing. On a very cold Saturday morning (Jan. 20th), our visit to McCain's Bakery & Cafe en route to San Antonio was especially disheartening, not just because of the outside chill but also due to the unexpectedly cold temperature inside the restaurant. I had anticipated a warm and cozy atmosphere but instead found it uncomfortably cold.We arrived just in time to avoid the Saturday morning crowd, which began to fill the place shortly after we placed our orders. On a positive note, the coffee was quite good, and the gentleman who served us was amiable and attentive. My husband opted for the All American Breakfast and found it to be merely "edible." He noted that the biscuit served with his meal was oddly toasted. My experience, however, was far more disappointing. I chose the Little Breakfast, requesting poached eggs and English muffins. Unfortunately, my meal arrived cold. The muffins were under-toasted, and the bacon was chilly. The eggs, which were supposed to be poached, were undercooked, as evident in the photos. They were so inadequately prepared that I ended up giving them to my husband. Thankfully, he had ordered an extra egg, which I found to be just okay - not hot, but at least edible. Our hopes for a warm, comforting breakfast on a cold morning were dashed by the unsatisfactory meal. Despite the cafe not being busy when our food was prepared, the quality and temperature were well below expectations. Regrettably, I can only offer McCain's Bakery & Cafe a 2-star rating, as the overall experience was far from satisfactory.

As out-of-towners needing an early breakfast before hitting the road, McCains was an amazingly pleasing surprise. Food was fresh, hot, and tasty. Service was prompt & excellent, making it back to our table to top off coffee and water multiple times. Kudos to the whole crew; such takes a team that gives a hoot! We will be back!
