On my trips I like to eat at areas that are not local to where I live. I found this hidden gem La fogata. First let me start off with how great the customer service was. My party of 7 was greeted with a smile and they quickly assembled a table for us. Shout out our servers Jacob and trainee destiny were spot on. They were able to recommend items and provide excellent recommendations for items that were sold of. As we were waiting I noticed every server was attentive to their customers like an elevated restaurant. They made sure the entire table received their food at the same time. I love it. Our chicken nachos were different from what we expected. Each chip had a burst of flavor. Chicken was flavored perfectly. Chicken bean and cheese was very delightful. I ordered the carnitas plate and man let me tell you. The pure size of the portions was enough to fill me up 3 times over. Let's not forget the hand pressed tortillas a definite favorite. The charro beans were a steal I don't know how they made it to pack a punch but it was the first thing I finished. The ambiance of this place was great the Latin music made the sitting experience nice. The lighting was natural and just vibrant enough to make you want to look around. I couldn't get a good picture of the amazing looking cocktails the bartenders were making. My overall review of this establishment is 5 out of 5 would return. I'd say if your in the San Antonio area stop by this restaurant they definitely elevated this cuisine and I hope they continue to do so

The environment was nice. We were seated outside. The food was good but our orders were wrong. The waitstaff were friendly but our drinks weren't refilled unless we asked.

When I first got there I removed food off the chair and nicked my hand and it started bleeding after asking 2 workers I got a bandaid. The food was salty and so so and the server could've been a bit friendlier - I won't be going back but honestly not my favorite way in how they cook Mexican food.

Have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The server was friendly but service was disappointing. Everything was soooo slow and the restaurant did not appear busy enough to warrant the wait. Took a long time to get drinks out, the appetizer was served after the meals, food itself was not bad, but also not something I'd go out of my way for. Asked for dessert to go and it came out plated to be eaten there. Won't refuse to come back, but definitely not top of the list. Felt embarrassed to bring out of town guests here for their only meal in San Antonio.

Great place, great food, great service. I've been here several times. Bring a sweater. It's like a meat locker!

Beautiful location, food is just ok. I eat at the Vance Jackson restaurant and wanted to check out the new location. Their food is just mediocre at both locations.

Tex-Mex with some traditional items as well, like pozole and mole enchiladas. Our party stayed with Tex-Mex classics (chicken fajita salad, chile relleno, street tacos with carnitas, and the mixed enchilada plate. We loved their chips and unique salsa. All of the foods were delicious with ample servings. The ambience was great, too, and I especially enjoyed the real Latino/mariachi/norteño mix of music. We ordered their sopaipillas for dessert - excellent!

This location is amazing, the service was good, but the food was horrible. The chicken mole is, quite literally, disgusting. Picture a frozen HEB bagged chicken breast, now cook it till its dry and sandy covered with subpar mole sauce. That is what they serve here. The drinks, the "chispa" is a God forsaken knock off of a beloved local drink not worthy of its name. Glad the original Chispa is now trademarked so I hope they will be forced to remove it from their menu in a effort to distance the superior original from this sad recreation. If you like authentic Mexican food, please do not consider La Fogata's any locations across San Antonio.

The food was delicious! Mole chicken enchiladas were so flavorful. The beef fajitas were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The alcoholic beverages were totally on point!

Service from the so-called bartender / manager was a complete joke. And he was rude as we left the restaurant. Shrimp shell in quesadilla. Plus it is the tiniest quesadilla you’ll ever see. The side of rice was ridiculously larger than the quesadilla. Also, they changed their menu and supposedly all the other la fogatas are following suit. I couldn’t find the dishes I normally order. I hardly ever leave reviews but this was such a bad experience when all we wanted was to relax after work on a Friday evening. Instead, the food was over priced, okay, and service was disruptive and disappointing. If a customer finds a shell in their food, you apologize. Not once did the “manager” apologize for that experience. Nor was any part of the meal discounted for the additional wait or the poor experience. Our waitress Ale was very sweet and nice.

Our favorite place in San Antonio for happy hour margaritas! Service from bartender/manager Marshal is always excellent. He goes out of his way to make us feel welcome and accommodate dietary needs. Food is delicious, and we always have enough to take home for leftovers.
