“This was my first time here and the staff helped me figure out how the system works. My family and I enjoyed everything. The food was fresh and delicious. I actually enjoyed cooking my own food at the table. The staff also warned me about "HOT" spicy seasoning before I ordered. I will recommend this place and I will visit it again.“

“Been here many times already. Service never fails me. Their broth is so special and you may not find them anywhere else. Besides traditional sliced lamb and beef, they provide so many varieties, especially appetizers and desserts, super yummy. Right, don't forget about their fruit drinks. Taste great as well! Highly recommend.“

“Food is always excellent & we always have a good time. My daughter put me on to hot pot & it's my go to now whenever I want to treat myself. The food at the buffet is always fresh & there is always plenty to select from. The cuts of meat are high quality & taste great. The only negatives I have is feeling pressured by wait staff to get more meat while myself & my party are still working on what we have. Again, pressure by waitstaff to flip the table asap when I am still eating or digesting.“

“Victor was very attentive. Not only was it my first visit but I was alone and he made both experiences enjoyable. There was another male waiter who was extremely helpful as well but I didn’t catch his name. 4 stars because I personally would have liked more veggie options but their buffet is loaded and everything was tasty!“

“The new AYCE menu is a sweet deal and offers super high beef while costing a fair amount of money. Without the AYCE option, it ends up costing too much to feel full here. I like the location being away from main Chinatown area as it has become too crowded and stressful on Bellaire. Would return to Shabu Squared as I was very pleased with the quality and service!“

“order clear soup pot + lamb scorpion + white-cut lamb shoulder, with cabbage + radish + red bean cake + naan, they are all very good, my favorite is the white-cut lamb shoulder, fresh and mellow, the ratio of bones, meat, fat and tendons is just right , I would like to try the roasted whole lamb if I have the chance.“

“I enjoy the concept of this restaurant: you eat your meal of meat/seafood stew and then they add water and you can add your sides of additional meats and vegetables to create a hot pot.I shared my shrimp dish (medium) with two others. I think the medium size can be shared between three only if you order at least 4-5 sides later for the hot pot. The shrimp dish had at least 12 large shrimps which wasn't bad. I wish the shrimp was already peeled because it was difficult to peel since it was scorching hot.Our friends ordered the beef brisket which was delicious and easy to eat (no bone or peeling necessary) so I'd recommend that if you come. I thought all the dishes would be comparable but differ in the meat we ordered but our shrimp dish seemed to lack potato and we wish that it had been present to balance the other intense flavors of the dish (onion, ginger, bell peppers, shrimp). As for the sides, the dumplings (6) did not have much filling, they weren't worth it. I really enjoyed the chiba tofu, the enoki mushroom, blood curds. We also got glass noodles, potato, corn on the cob, and Chinese cabbage which weren't remarkable. Also to note, despite reiterating that we wanted our dishes to be mild, both of our stews ended up being medium spice level unfortunately.Overall, I really enjoyed the quality of the ingredients and the natural flavors of the dish and hot pot!Side note: adding rice is an additional $1 per bowl which I wasn't a fan of.Service was alright- hot pot is labor intensive and the workers had to heat up / turn off the burner and pour water into the stew to turn it into hot pot for each table so I can understand why the staff was busy and may not have been as attentive as we'd like. While we had to call the waiters several times, either to refill the water in the hot pot, to give us napkins, or to give us the bill, they eventually got it done with a great attitude.Overall, it's a decent place for hot pot! It's not the cheapest nor the most expensive place ever but the ingredients were great quality and the dishes were very delicious!“

“the culinary journey is nothing short of extraordinary. The rich, bold flavors of their spicy hot pot creations leave a lasting impression, and the attention to detail in both presentation and service sets this establishment apart. Each visit is a delightful exploration of Sichuan cuisine, making it a top-notch destination deserving of its five-star status.“

“This Korean eatery, let me tell you, has always been our number one choice! Can you even fathom it? It's also the ultimate Korean restaurant chosen by my child! It has become an integral part of our existence. I mean, who would have predicted? The astonishing range of accompanying dishes they offer is incredibly remarkable! And the cherry on top? The cost is extremely budget-friendly! I'm at a loss for words, to be frank.“

“As one of the most famous hot pot chains out of China, I feel strongly that MaLuBianBian's presence alone legitimizes Chinatown as a true enclave of the city. Meaning "side of the road" (马路边边), this Sichuanese (#1) inspired spot brings a slightly unconventional approach to the thriving all you can eat hot pot scene. The eclectic decor is meant to mimic the Chengdu food scene with the glow-up Chinese character signage, colorful furniture, and artistic murals. Even the music has been on point (#2), as well as the ventilation for the mugginess. Visually, the place is quite unique relative to its competition and definitely has the look and feel down, 100%. To get food, it's mainly self-serve. Instead of a buffet spread , it's freezers and a sauce bar. The veggies and meats are all laid out for everyone, so there's not real choosing wisely. Truth be told, the broth selection matters more than the foods that they have laying out. The price now is $29 for the whole experience and I'd recommend ordering the crispy fried pork and brown sugar rice cake from their snacks / appetizers. The service could be better and by better, I mean faster and more polite. They're all Mandarin speaking and a little slow on getting everything including waters and napkins. It's not much to ask for when everyone is serving / cooking everything for themselves. There's plenty of parking in their shared lot. They accept credit card but definitely prefer cash. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique hot pot experience in the heart of Chinatown. __________ (#1) If I'm not writing Peking for Beijing, I'm definitely not writing Szechuan. (#2) And sometimes dominated by Jay Chou.“

“This new place is nicely styled inside with your own hotplate on table. Service was good, but wish service was a little more forthcoming with how long to cook the noodles, we had it at level 15, it started boiling but the noodles needed another 4-5 minutes more than we thought. Once they were cooked in the broth, so flavorful and easier to eat. The smashed cucumber starter was delicious. We got the chicken and ginger garlic hot pot. Beware, there are bones in the chicken, but really delicious. A solid 8 out of 10 of enjoyment. Just wish we had had more guidance on the meal.“

“I absolutely love the buffet addition. I haven't been here in a few years, so that was a pleasant surprise. AYCE is very reasonably priced, and there are plenty of options to choose from. I will say service was a little lacking this recent visit. Our waiter only checked on us once. He was in behind the soda machine on his phone everytime I saw him & i feel his attitude was pretty dismissive to us. It was my partners first time coming here, so it would have been nice for him to explain how everything works, like they usually do, but that didn't happen. I saw other tables getting refills of water by their waiters, but we were never once offered any. We had to get up & go to the drink station ourselves for refills. Either way, we had a great time & look forward to having their delicious Hotpot again. The broth was fantastic as always, as well as the cuts of meat.“

“We ate hot pot here. My boyfriend and I like spicy food, and thought that we could handle ourselves. Thank GOD the waitress scooped out the chilies and chili oil from our hot pot otherwise we would have probably passed out. It was so spicy that we cried like two small children to the amusement of all the wait staff. My face turned red and I felt light headed. 10/10 would recommend.“

“After a horrible experience with highway robbery at another restaurant right around the corner (Taste of Robbery wink wink), I took the kids to my go to spot for Chinese food here. Sinh Sinh never fails to deliver in taste, quality and service. I've gone here numerous times but just never had the chance to review them. They are a fusion of Vietnamese and Chinese and had some other things on the menu but practically everything we ordered is good and fairly priced. I would highly recommend anyone looking for Chinese food and likes good quality family style meals to check them out.“

“They changed three times locations and finally I had a chance to come. To be honest, their old locations were not that good that why I didn't go. But this time I am glad I came. Taste is above chinatown's average level and for this price for this much food is great deal. Try the very very long frech fried.“

“I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. There was quite a few tasty dishes.1. Fried crispy pork. This was tasty with a nice crispy outside and soft tender inside. Pork flavors come through and it’s nicely flavored.2. Fish and pickled cabbage noodle soup: the soup is mildly flavored, the fish is silky and pickled cabbage slightly tart. It’s not bad but I prefer it more tart.3. Beef belly hot pot noodle soup. This is quite good with strong flavors in the soup. Tried with medium spice and it wasn’t too spicy.4. Wonton soup: the soup is mild but the wontons are good. You can taste the seasoning and meat when you bite into them. Most wontons are tasteless but not these ones. Would eat these again.5. Soft tofu with red bean is really good. Sauce is like a caramelized taste with mung bean powder. Very tasty.Overall, a decent restaurant and worth making this a staple for those that enjoy noodle soups.“
