The location on the river has always been special. Unfortunately the fun environment of Buzzard Billy is no more. Great Cajun and rolls to throw to the ducks have been replaced with black tablecloths and a sterile environment. The place was nearly empty on this Saturday night, suggesting that people in Waco already knew that the place so many used to love is dead and gone. Cajun food isn't meant to be fancy. It's meant to have soul and life. The food was bland and way overpriced. Leave this place to the buzzards. They might enjoy ravaging on the remains of what used to be a special place.

Killer food although it's pretty pricey the view is great from the bar but the management is very prickish about fishing outside on the state owned bridge,(you don't own the water )

The food was good. A little pricey for the meal in my opinion. Main course was huge. The dessert was overpriced.Atmosphere was of an upscale restaurant although everyone was dressed casual (jeans and T-shirt ok).We weren't in a hurry but our food came out in a timely fashion.Menu is a lot of seafood, Cajun food, some regular items like chicken fried steak, and hamburger.Would eat here again.

Had to wait nearly 1 hour to receive our food. Water was not refilled for 45 minutes.

The atmosphere is great! It's by the river, fancy indoors, laid-back outdoors. The host was nice, the server got our orders in, I ordered the shrimp and it tasted like it was just a reheated bag of frozen shrimp. Husband got the burger- no mustard in it and the waitress took awhile to ask if we needed anything he just ate his burger without it. On the rare occasion our waitress asked if we needed anything it's almost as if she was expecting a "no" and would practically take off before we'd answer. If the place didn't have such an awesome atmosphere, I would've been really disappointed. On a positive note, it's cool how the garage window/doors open up and how they had an officer by the front!

Fabulous food! Had the Cajun Combo and the flavor was spot on! Make sure to try the Swamp Soup! The restaurant is the only one you will find on the Brazos River thus making it the best place for catching those beautiful Texas sunset views. The service can't be beat. Friendly staff throughout the place ready to assist whatever you request.

The Landing is the former Buzzard Billy's. We have been dinning there for about twenty years, going back to it's former downtown Buzzard Billy's location. Buzzard Billy's had a fun, casual vibe with three seating areas: the Swamp Shack which is a covered patio type area with garage door type walls that open up, a bar, and a mix of low and high top tables; a main indoor seating area; and a covered outdoor patio area. The restaurant was purchased and rebranded in late 2022. The rebranding seems intended to offer a more upscale experience. The main seating area now has black table cloths and low table lighting. They also now offer a small selection of nice bourbons for those who enjoy spirits. We met the current owners shortly after they purchased the restaurant. They were very friendly and seemed like nice people! We arrived at approximately 6:30 p.m., on a Tuesday evening. There were no known events occurring in the area that evening. We parked in one of two remaining spots in the main parking lot. There is overflow parking up a hill adjacent to the main parking area. Our party of four included two out-of-town friends who had dined with us here on previous occasions. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and immediately seated in the indoor area. Our waitress was soft spoken and polite. I'll summarize the overall service by saying that our discussion eventually turned to which tables had or had not received their food. We ordered an appetizer and three cocktails. They arrived much too slowly, and in piecemeal fashion.I have always enjoyed getting the large fried mozzarella cheesesticks and a bowl of their delicious Swamp Soup. I intended on ordering these items on this visit. I immediately saw that the Swamp Soup was only listed as a cup, with no bowl option. When I said I wanted an order of mozzarella sticks, the waitress informed me that an order now only included two cheesesticks (at $15). I declined. We began a short discussion about these items, and she said that they had revised all of their appetizers. She said I could still get Swamp Soup in a bowl, but I declined this also, as I suspected it would no longer be the generous bowl size previously offered.I ordered the plain Catfish plate with sweet potato fries substituted for regular fries. My wife had a fried combination plate. My catfish was very good, and everyone else enjoyed their selections as well. I had intended to order dessert, but our waitress never asked if anyone would like one. My friend offered to waive her down, but I decided to skip it since it was approaching 8:30 p.m. Our two main plates, a tea, and three cocktails resulted in a pre-tip tab of $91.98.The Landing seems trapped between its old and new personas, while not excelling at either. We will likely come here again, but it won't be any time soon, and certainly not when we have something to do or some place to be afterwards. (We had been here a month or so earlier, before a basketball game, and we became worried as to whether we would get to the game on time.) We have always liked this place and its location. We hope it will thrive.

Visited from out of town. Heard you have to go and eat here on travel website. I would have to say they were spot on. The armadillo eggs were awesome. Then we both ordered. Mine being red beans and rice with Andouille sausage that was Excellent. My wife ordered the cajun pasta. That pasta was the best cajun pasta we've ever had and she's a picky cajun. Don't typically write reviews cause time is money but feel if I don't, some people out there won't have the experience we did. 5 star all around and will come back with more family next time to share the wealth.

The braised beef and potatoes was amazing, as was most of our table's food. The queso is great too. Would not recommend the catfish though. The only reason I counted off on service was that a drink of ours sat on the bar for over 20 minutes, and did not get delivered until the table was able to leave. However, with a large group and it being a weekend crowd, it happens.
