“So I went there back when it was the Midway, had a horrible experience. A few weeks ago I Ubered their music director War (I think that was what came up on the app) to work. I told him of my experience back when, he asked me to give them another try, I did last night, I'm glad I did. It was a jumping place, I tried their street tacos, really good. I'll be back.”

Followed up lunch with a rum punch drink. Also very tasty.

“The food is always great at Tsunami. I made a mistake with my reservation and accidentally booked it for 2 people instead 5! I realized my mistake as our reservation was getting close. I called up and Ryan (Manager), upon hearing my situation was able to work with me and get all 5 of us seated right on time. I really appreciate the way he handled the whole thing. We'll keep going to Tsunami in Union Heights!”

“Love the food here and the servers are great but after being here for an hour, the manager actually came to our table and told us to leave. Said the wait list is long and we can go to the lobby to socialize. By the way the lobby was nearly empty. We asked to talk to the manager, he said he was it and when we asked if he was serious, he chuckled and said yes. We even left an extra $20 for the server because we knew we’d be here longer. We are a paying table. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant - this is not how you treat your customers. Not a good practice to get people to come back. SO DISAPPOINTING!!!”

“My wife and I recently moved to the Midvale area. We are now frequent customers of Great India. Tonight we ordered their Great India Special Appetizer, the Garlic Cheese Naan, and an order of Chicken Vindaloo (spicy). The flavor is incredible and the food so fresh. We talked with the owners (yep - locally owned, a big plus) and learned that they prepare the Naan when it's ordered, not heated up from earlier in the day. Its obvious! We couldn't recommend a restaurant more highly. Really one our favorites.”

“I have been coming here since they've opened and love their food. However, I am very disheartened lately how their cook Olden (I believe is his name) treats the other staff. He tends to get overwhelmed by tickets or special requests. When I've experienced this happening he seems as though he gets stressed out. Then he lashes out on the other staff around him, especially the owner's mother who works the register. I've experienced this on multiple occasions and it's frustrating to see. I love this place but it's beginning to make me not want to come here due to how he treats others. I have kept my mouth closed for the experience of other customers in the building. However, your staff don't deserve this type of treatment and I will be standing up for them the next time this happens in front of me. I've kept my mouth shut long enough.”

What sets this place apart is how openly it embraces the LGBTQ+ community. As an out of towner, this place felt like a welcoming respite from the rest of the area. This is a warm, welcoming, safe space.

“6 stars if I could. I've tried the chicken and beef and salmon teriyaki bowls, as well as the chicken katsu. They were all excellent, and the beef especially is a standout. I'm not normally a beef guy, but it's so good. Also the fried rice--it's actually rice that has been fried, much better than the vast majority of fried rice nowadays. All cooked fresh, best I can tell. Seriously, I'm really impressed with this place, especially at the price point. Friendly staff. I hope they stick around a long time.”

All of it was cooked and prepared to perfection in less than 10 minutes. It was a big portion of food, was able to take home leftovers. Bathrooms available for men and women in the back. Will definitely be returning.

Santiago, who was working the afternoon shift, was really kind and attentive, and made the experience much better.

The food prices are pretty high, but I tried the Oreo shake and it was actually worth the price because of the size. I probably wouldn’t order anything else than that because of the prices.

But I will say that he definitely needs a raise! When he takes your order you can see that he puts so much effort and love in his job, he deserves it.
