Overall, pretty mid. I've gone a couple times and and once for brunch with friends. The service on all occasions took a while. The food is good (not a lot of vegetarian options). I'd say it's definitely better to go in the summer when the patio is open and there is more seating. They have some fun cocktails and a cool plant wall for photos but yeah, maybe a little overrated
I visited a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to learn they have the same owner as Sapa because the service was terrible. We sat at the bar and our server acted like he could not be bothered. There were two other servers behind the bar who we had to wave down to get any service like utensils to eat. Our server disappeared towards the end the of meal. I’m a little fiend for unique fry selections and that is precisely why Purgatory is my go to bar whenever I’m in Salt Lake. Particularly their KBBQ and Truffle Fries were emotional experiences for me. It’s a fun atmosphere and my favorite Utah bar.
