We had an exceptional experience at Barboursville Winery! Their impressive library of wines and extensive facilities, including an onsite restaurant, provided the perfect setting for a memorable visit. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the winery's history and property, adding depth to the experience.Since the weather was nice, I opted for a sparkling flight, which was very refreshing. Among the selections, the brut was my favorite, offering a delightful balance of flavor and effervescence. My partner enjoyed a red wine flight, which paired beautifully with their meat and cheese board – a small size was more than enough for the two of us.The combination of Barboursville Winery's wine selection, excellent facilities, and attentive staff made our visit truly special. We left with a deeper appreciation for the winery and its offerings. If you're looking for a wonderful wine experience, I highly recommend visiting Barboursville Winery.

We've been coming here for years. The wines are worth the price. We especially like the Barbera, a grape we first enjoyed in the Piedmont region of Italy. The on-site restaurant, Palladio, is excellent.

This is a large estate that produces very good examples of both red and white varietals and blends. We sampled the Chardonnay and their prmiere offering called Octagon, which is a classic Bordeaux blend. The name comes from the octagonal shaped library in the ruins of Governor Barbour's mansion which lie on the estate. Apparently it was designed by Thomas Jefferson whose favorite shape was the octagon. The mansion burned in the late 1800s and the ruins have been left as they were. The site was both scenic and peaceful. We observed two bald eagles circling above while we enjoyed our wine. There is also an impressive Italian restaurant on premises that we hope tou try if we ever get back that way again.

Came here for a tasting in the Discovery Tasting room. Loved the ambiance and the staff were very friendly. It is a unique self service setup where you get to choose 6 wines to taste out of 8 reds and 8 whites (including 2 dessert wines). Definitely doesn't feel rushed and there are some cool decorations and newspaper clippings to read. Went home with a bottle of wine, it was that good!

Barboursville Vineyards is our favorite winery. My wife (a wine professional of sorts having published two books on the subject) and I have been traveling here to buy wine for thirty years. Whether your preference is red or white you simply cannot go wrong at Barboursville.

The tasting room is very well organized. The wines are great, the people are friendly and the view is AMAZING. Very happy with this winery.

Go to Pippin Hill or any other Vineyard in Charlottesville for that matter! My family came to the winery on 10/21 to celebrate my mothers 65th birthday, paying ahead of time ($50) just to walk in the door and reserve a space within one of the library tasting rooms. She was corresponding with Allison ahead of time for this reservation, who told us she would reach out ahead of time with a menu to plan our afternoon. Despite 2 follow up emails to her we received no response. Instead, the night before our arrival at 7 pm she called to tell us that it would be “inconvenient” for our party to order flights of wine at our tasting. Meanwhile, flights are an option on the menu for the general tasting room as well as the library tasting room.Several members in our party ordered wine flights, Allison glared at my mom, saying “really, flights for everyone?” while making a disgusted face, implying my mom did something wrong by the rest of our party ordering wine flights. I confronted her about this as we were leaving and she denied she ever said that and was dismissive and rude to me as well. She has no business working in the service industry with that type of behavior. I confronted the general manager about this behavior via email, and was met with a significantly delayed response complaining to me that it is challenging for the winery to deal with large groups of patrons ordering flights of wine. If its a strain on your staff, take it off the menu! So like I said at the beginning - take your business elsewhere!

It is one of the bigger wineries and Vineyards on the Monticello winery trail around Charlottesville, VA. Nice selection of wines for tasting. There are snacks available to go with wine tasting. Also, full dining facility.

This winery stands out among its peers in Virginia. The Library tasting experience takes place in a picturesque space. Guests are afforded comfortable spacious seating (we sat near a fireplace). Wine flights are curated and information is self guided. A range of food options are available including a number of entrees from the Italian restaurant adjacent. My partner is a sommelier and found these wines among the best of the ten we visited during our five day trip. Make the drive. It's a beautiful space.

AMANDA IS THE BEST!The best and most fun and bubbly Amanda (she's standing in the picture) made our visit exceptional! She answered our group's many questions, suggested wines and had us laughing a lot. Oh yeah, and the vineyard and tasting room are beautiful.Prices are reasonable. I'm not into wine and didn't order any (I go with friends for the atmosphere), so I can't comment on the wines.

Great views, good wine (try their Pinto Grigio) and service. The property is beautiful. Make sure you check out the mansion

Had a great time at the winery today, tasting several of their wines and having a personal mini tour and a very interesting and amusing conversation with Vince. He knew a lot about wine production and this winery in particular, and had some amusing anecdotes as well.
