My very first review on any restaurant. Mostly cause I've been really wanting to check this place out and it was such a huge disappointment I thought others may benefit from what I have to say. Set reservations so I wouldn't have to wait. A couple walked in ahead of us with 730 reservations as compared to our 715. We were seated. They received their drinks and salad long before we received a drink offering. Same waiter, tables side by side. Our first drink were placed on the table 27 minutes after we were seated. We were there to celebrate 25 years of marriage. I almost got up and left. Meal arrives. Ya know how you can put a pasta sauce on a plate and as it cools there appears to be a film over the sauce? Yeah, that's how we received our food, Luke warm. Taste? It was decent but nothing I'd write home about. Got up to go to the bathroom and, upon return, walked past the water station and nearly fell on my rear, slipping on the water on the floor and having to grab the shelves under the water pitchers, breaking off 3 of my fingernails but saving my butt! For the number of positive reviews giving this a 4.5, I am at a loss to see why. I love a quality meal and will pay the price but this was far from worth it.

We love Carmellos! We try to go as often as we can. The atmosphere is cozy yet fine dining and the staff treat everyone super kindly. Favorite date night spot!

We had wonderful experience. The food was good, ambiance was exceptional. Our server Mike gave us complimentary dessert. They did not rush us although we came towards their closing hours. Thank you very much.

I was beyond impressed with everything: the handmade pasta, Mike who did everything in the dining room including provide wonderful service, and the atmosphere. I thought the prices were reasonable and quantities borderline obscene (not a complaint, who doesn't want a handmade pasta coma?) I'm so thankful we stumbled upon this gem. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

This is a very outdated restaurant. My chicken had about 2 pounds of cheese on it. I didn't like my chicken at all. Other people at our table had a different chicken recipe, which was much lighter, it was a special, but it was very heavy as well.I'm told the spaghetti and meatball was great. The Caprese salad was amazing. I think the menu needs to be revamped. It was a nice looking place but almost empty.

One of Charlottesville’s best restaurants! The food is delightful - by far the best tomato sauce I’ve ever eaten. The service is always perfect and the employees are extremely helpful and friendly.
The food was delicious and it was clear that this was a family owned business! They seemed pretty busy, the people working were very apologetic for the wait. We were seated and done with our food within an hour so the wait wasn't even that long.

Not sure what's up with this place? Went one time a few weeks ago and the food was phenomenal but I stood and waited for a long time to pick up my food and when I was finally acknowledged I was greeted by a disgruntled staff member murmuring that he was the only employee working. Decided to try it again and called on a Wednesday during open hours and same disgruntled employee answered the phone and said the establishment was closed for the evening. I was surprised and asked for clarification because of the website hours and he rather abruptly answered they're closed. The food was delicious but I'll find my Italian fix somewhere else moving forward unless they iron out whatever kinks are going on beneath the veneer.

Excellent food - I had chicken parm, my wife had ravioli. Nice Chianti wine. Bread was fabulous. And great cheesecake dessert. We will happily return. Family-owned makes it sweet.

Thank you for another WONDERFUL evening! I brought my mom on a date last night and we were SO impressed! It was GREAT seeing Stella, George, Bill and Mike again. The service was incredible and the food was AMAZING! I love the stuffed artichokes and I had the seafood Pppardelle, YUMMY! My mom had the Veal and it was SO SO SOOOO GOOD! Wonderful wine pairing and fresh bread. WOW! Thank you again; I've been a happy customer for over 25 years and plan to be back again soon!

They have roaches. This place needs to be shut down and tore down. Not only are the roaches really bad the smell of the place let’s you know that it is a bad infestation I’mNot even sure how the health department allows them to remain open. The place is clearly infested the smell tells it all. This

Great authentic Italian food. They didn't have a kids menu with chicken Alfredo (which my daughter was craving) but made a kids dish of it anyways. That's great customer service!!! The service and ambiance was nice.
