A pretty cool restaurant in the Downtown Mall of Charlottesville. Like it says it's a Skybar when that is open during nicer weather. They have a really nice indoor area with good food, seating, and some really, really interesting and distinct drink cocktails and other offerings. I definitely suggest looking carefully at said menu - you might find some very unique and tasty treats!

I was so disappointed by this restaurant. My husband and I were in the area on a vacation weekend and this restaurant looks so much better online. First when we walked in no one was at the hostess stand so we waited for a few minutes for anyone to even greet us, then they took us to our table and we weren’t greeted by a server for at least 5 minutes and the only reason we were was because someone was walking around trying to figure out what table ordered the food he was carry

We went to Commonweath for restaurant week. This was the three course meal for $29. The meal was fine, except for the duck confit. The duck confit looked more like soup. The portion was somewhat small for all of us. There were 4 of us and we all ordered the $29 special. The bill came to $198, not including tip. I had two glasses on non-descript Chardonnay for $24.00 ($12 each). This seems too high for a "house" Chardonnay. Wished I had asked about the price of the wine. I would have ordered a cheaper mixed drink. Oh, well, you live and learn, right?

Hot take - commonwealth is one of the best restaurant downtown. Unfortunately it is conflated with Skybar which is what it is...a late night dancing bar and sometimes a mess. But for this review I'm focused on commonwealth, the restaurant. They are bringing back brunch with the new chef in March, last time I had brunch there and he (Andrew) cooked it, it was hands down the best offered in cville. Drinks - creative, fun, elevated and delicious. Food - yummy and fancy but not pretentious or tiny portions. Atmosphere- welcoming staff, flexible, not overcrowded Cost - you get what you pay for here $$ Will go back and soon

Tried to have a drink at the Sky Bar on Saturday night, but neither of the two bartenders acknowledged my friend or me for 10 minutes so we just left. Just bizarre behavior. They weren't even busy. It's weird to have such bad service in C'ville.

They were friendly and put out a good product. One criticism. The bartender served drinks with fingers all over the rim of the glass. Makes you wonder about training and sanitation.

This review is for the restaurant. They held my wedding rehearsal dinner at short notice for about 50 people and really on knocked it out of the park. It was very beautifully lIt and decorated with lovely food at a reasonable rate. Have no complaints.

We were excited for this place before a show at the Jefferson. Cool space and good drinks. However, the service was very slow and the restaurant was mostly empty so I can't explain why. I'm a big oyster fan and theirs were the worst I think I've had. Very small, tasteless and just very disappointing. Our meals were ok, but it was just a poor experience especially given the prices. We won't be going back.

Excellent live music, food, and a decent selection on tap. Enjoyed the rockfish, raw oysters, and calamari, though it's the first time I've ordered oysters somewhere that didn't note where they're from.

Good drink selection, nice atmosphere!
Very cool spot where you can look down on mere pedestrians while sipping your favorite cocktail.
Really good fried oysters and nice crunchy fried chix sandwich.
Just had a beer but it's a nice place to hang out.
