An absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable--Dederick was attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The tasting room, loft area and expansive patio with breathtaking views were awesome and very relaxing. The wines were all good quality. We preferred the whites over red, especially the Chardonnay- they offer 3 versions- oaked, unoaked and barrel fermented! We brought bottles of all three home. Reds were primarily bordeax style blends, each with unique characteristics. It's rare to find a place that exceeds expectations on all fronts like this. Highly recommend for an unforgettable winery experienc! My rating rationale+1 Service+1 Wine~Taste/flavor/quality+1 Presentation+1 Atmosphere/vibe+1 Value

Beautiful landscape and delightful!

Apparently they are “adults only”, nowhere mentioned on the website. Came there and were turned around. The other day we came, the sign said “open” and they were closed.

Literally the best wine tasting experience ever! My mother reserved 2 igloos and they let us stay for 4 and a half hours! We were buying wine bottles and clearly my uncle had a great time. The igloos were nice, the inside had blankets, a blue tooth speaker, and heater. Our waiter Matt was friendly and funny. My family and I definitely made some memories!

Such great hospitality. If you want a fun time with friends and family ask for Jeremy! We had so much fun for girls day!! Such a great experience!! Live Delaplane cellars!!

Melanie is the reason why my family and I continue to come to this winery. She is truly the best manager ever. She’s so sweet and goes beyond the extra mile to take care of my family. Richard and Jeremy are also particularly amazing people at this winery. Some of the best memories I share with my family have been because of them. This review doesn’t do justice to the experience they provide for us.

We stumbled up in this place as we were looking for "something to do" as we were boondock camping in our Airstream along the Shenandoah (for which I have ANOTHER great review coming!!)Let me start by saying the wine was AMAZING! We aren't wine snobs, but we LOVE a good wine. Our flight was 2 whites (I loved 1) and 2 reds (I loved 1.) We bought the white I loved and then bought the rose untasted, as our airstream friends were joining us on the river later that night and SHE loves rose. (SHE is a wine snob and LOVED the rose!!)So when it comes to wine, this is a really nice place to purchase some lovely VA wines! But here is the BEST part of our experience! The Ambience, the View, but more importantly, the acceptance of our pups in the tasting room!Delaplane allows dogs in the tasting room on the 3rd weekend of every month!! We were going to leave our pups in the car (it was a crisp clear day, and they were in NO HARM of overheating, etc. We car crate them in the fall in the proper conditions...) but we got to bring them in!! So we had a flight (YUM!) some cheese & marconas, and enjoyed a GORGEOUS view with yummy wines! (bought 2 bottles to take back with us to the campsite!)Delaplane has doggie bowls, pup cups, treats, etc for these days. We were inside (as outside was too windy and cold) and it was HEAVEN for all 4 of us! (Me, the hubs and the pooches!)NOW LET ME BE CLEAR - we have good pooches! no barking, licking, jumping, and they settle down next to us, aren't startled by strangers, don't beg at the table (or from their spots on the floor) etc. One is a trained TDI therapy dog and is Canine Good Citizen & Canine Good Citizen-Advanced and the other is his baby brother (he sorta raised him, so our blued eyed boy has EXCELLENT manners as well!) Both are over 60lbs and both are VERY used to being in people places because of how they have been trained. We made sure to be off in a corner so as not to bother other guests and we kept them on a tight leash so they knew they were "working" and needed to sit and be quiet while mommy and daddy (yes, we are fur-parents as we are also empty nesters now!) enjoyed a pleasant view, a flight tasting, and some cheese.I always like to encourage doggy parents to be GOOD GUESTS in GREAT PLACES so all of us don't lose the opportunity to enjoy such marvelous possibilities! We will be driving down from Falls Church every 3rd Saturday of the month for a fun afternoon and to replenish out cellar... the wines were AMAZING!! (I wanted to mention that again, as most people go to wineries for the wines! LOL)

Delaplane Cellars was very lovely overall! There are a few downsides to my review, but I will cover the positives first. Beautiful place with extremely kind and helpful staff - shoutout to Matt, the ambassador of wine (I think?) who came by as often as they could to provide us with information on the wines we were tasting. In addition to that, the campus is gorgeous and very easily accessible. Everything was very clean and just overall a good vibe. Most importantly, the actual wines were delicious! So was the Fall Harvest charcuterie board we got.A downside is that when we came in there wasn’t a clear line or way to immediately get service. One of the waitresses did mention that they were a bit understaffed though and experiencing higher traffic than usual, and we appreciated their awareness of the issue. Small irritation, easily rectified. Now to the big one! Something to be extremely mindful of is that the outside is plagued by stink bugs right now. Like they were literally everywhere. I couldn’t get super great pictures of them because I was mostly just trying to get them away but there are a few down below. I spent basically all of my time there intermittently swatting the little pests out of my hair and face, and off of my clothes. They also had gotten to the inside a bit because of the door constantly opening and closing, but seemed less active in there. We spoke with someone on staff and they mentioned that these bugs are only around during the Fall and very recently got pretty bad. Hopefully they are able to get this under control, but it’s just something that I think is important to know as it will impact your experience. But all in all, lovely winery that I would revisit, just in a different season!

Delaplane cellars offers an elegant tasting experience with comfortable leather seating indoors, two levels of outdoor decks, fire pits outdoors and gorgeous sunset views. We tried the wine tasting before deciding on a bottle to pair with the Virginia Sampler - three cheeses, sausage, marcona almonds and pistachios, olives and olive oil plus an outstanding fig chutney to accompany a fresh baked baguette. The sampler truly can substitute for a lunch. All of the wines we sampled were outstanding - their French oak aged Chardonnay was the standout among the whites for us. Just enough oak to smooth out the edges without being over oaked. (We are not fans of the 80s style heavily oaked Chardonnay - this is definitely not that). All of the reds were outstanding- we settled on a bottle of Adjacency to accompany our charcuterie sampler board. Service is excellent, our server checked on us multiple times and even brought out more olives and chutney. There is live music on the weekend. Parking is on the grassy slope below the tasting room although there is a drop off area in front if necessary. There’s an uphill walk to the main entry.

Not a bad place, but not the best either. Wine was average, the place was loud even without the live music. Staff was not friendly or welcoming at all. It seemed like when we got there we were bothering them. Kind of a rude welcome. When leaving we stood at the counter for 2 minutes before anyone even talked to us so we could pay our tab. Just not a good experience. Will not be returning, will go to Three Fox’s down the street for a much better experience.

Insta: dmv_reelsWow just amazing view from this place. I loved their cheese board. You can also bring your own food. It was my first time visiting VA winery and wine was ok. Not the best but the ambiance and the scenery were just on point. When you wanna sit inside, make sure to reserve on the first floor because we got seated on the second floor and we didn't have ANY outdoor view. Not dog friendly.

The wine is great. There seems to be something for everyone. I typically am picky about my wine but enjoyed both some white and red wine selections. Our guided tasting by Sheri was informative and fun. She is both knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel welcome. We had some pizza from a local food truck that was delicious. They offer many events and live music if you like that atmosphere. On the other hand, they offer more quiet and relaxing spaces to enjoy your wine (without children) or if you're looking for a place to hang out and relax or work. We will definitely be back.

It is an amazing place with a great view. We sat on the second floor inside. Their chairs are comfy and nice. Their staff is welcoming and checks on you regularly. They brought our things to our table. Their wine was good. Tasting was fun as well.

Delaplane Cellars is absolutely stunning. The views are to die for, the bites are delicious, and the wine is robust! When we walked in we were immediately greeted and given a run down on how to order. Within minutes of ordering, the waitress brought out our wines for the wine tasting. We also ordered a sampler platter that was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back. We visited another Virginia winery a few days before going to Delaplane, but Delaplane was light years ahead of that one. Five star experience!
