“I have been very biased when trying Thai restaurants ever since I had food in Thailand as I feel like the flavors are so watered down in many places here in the US. We came here as we were visiting the area for the weekend. I had the green curry with chicken and my wife had the Khai soy noodles. Service was fast and the portion size was more than adequate. The Khai Soi is enough for two to share. The taste felt authentic and the flavors popped out and reminded me of the food I had tried back in Thailand. For the price of the food, scale of this restaurant and authentic taste and flavors, it gets a 10/10 on my personal scale!!”

“We had dinner here on Mon. 9/12/22 5pm. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, Double Tree by Hilton. Their courtesy car driver was familiar with the location near James Madison U. and brought us there in 10 min. We also checked out their website ahead. Well Monday Pasta Special was just what we were looking for after a day of exploring. For $10.95 you can choose from 6 pastas, 6 sauces, & your choice of two toppings from 25+ choices of meat, olives, peppers, cheese, etc (think pizza toppings). And if that's not enough incentive also on Mondays it's 1/2 off bottles of vino. What's not to like? Vito's is not a chain. This is authentic cooked to order Italian fare. There are specials on every day. They also have a market & deli next door. We sat at the bar and ordered a beer ($6) & a wine ($7) while make our dinner choices. My bride had angel hair pasta w/ pesto, chicken & fresh mozzarella. The portion was full dinner size & she took more than half back to our room. I had bucatini w/ spicy marinara, sweet Italian sausage, & kalamata olives. Again a generous portion. Very tasty marinara & al dente pasta. Full disclosure: I ate in all. LOL. It was a great first impression at Vito's. Our service was excellent. Bartender T was always checking on us even while cashing out all the take away orders. Very busy place on this Monday. It seems that they have built a brand and customer loyalty because of the food & the service. Specials everyday for lunch & dinner. Can place orders online and JMU students can use their JAC meal cards there also. Hours: WED-MON 11am-10pm, closed TUE. Happy Hour 3-6pm. “This place is incredible. The atmosphere is slightly speak-easy-esque. The staff is knowledgeable, engaging, and truly seems to care about the customers’ experience. We came here after getting married earlier today and passing through Harrisonburg on our way to our destination. We needed dinner and it was THE RIGHT PICK. Michael, our server, and Steph, a manager or a GM equivalent, were seriously the BOMB. Soo accommodating and kind, and cared about our evening. The spicy Marg … insanely satisfying. CRAZY kick of flavor without the straight burn of something that’s spicy just to BE the spiciest. The tincture that makes it spicy is made in house. Amazing! And the spicy burger … also incredible. “I come here about once a month, and I honestly haven’t had a disappointing experience yet. The staff is always friendly and on top of everything, the restaurant is consistently clean, and the wait times are never too long.

I also really appreciate that management takes the time to come by and make sure everything is going well. The food always comes out fresh, hot, and tastes great.

“My granddaughter and I were having grandma day in Harrisonburg. We ordered burgers fries. Brussel Sprouts Fried Pickles and Fried Tomatoes. The Brussel sprouts live up to their hype. A bit of crunch and most delicious. The tomatoes were done perfect. crispy on the outside- juicy on the inside as were the pickles. My granddaughter received the Wrong order yet the manager made it right. He offered a free dessert on the house and my granddaughter recieved the right burger and fresh made French fries. They have always provided excellent food. ONE year the ham was not up to par…which was shocking and they delivered a new ham right to my door without hesitation…never expected that but they went above and beyond to make sure my family had the perfect ham for Christmas Eve. It was just a fluke I’m sure that happened. I’m sorry I have never give. a review… life gets busy and crazy. We appreciate you all being in our area. photos are from day two remaining and what was packed up for day three. (day one was eaten so fast, no pics were taken. lol) It’s a take out space, no dining within and this place was a revolving door with orders.
I highly recommend my meal:Dragon meets Phoenix… and you can spice it up to whatever level you can handle.

The owners are absolutely phenomenal. Some of the best food in Harrisonburg without a doubt. The El jefe is an absolute masterpiece of a burger, let alone there beautiful chop chop (add steak, you won’t regret it), to there appetizers such as the empanadas or tostones. The bar is beautiful and has a massive selection of drinks! It’s not just food, it’s art, passion, & huge amount of dedication!”

We had a cup of soup, the tuna salad plate which had tuna, potato salad and Cole slaw over lettuce with tomatoes and cukes, and four wedges of pita bread. Very filling and good. Also, crab cake sandwich, which was huge filling the deli roll, with lettuce and tomato. Service was great. The dining area was clean and bright. We will definitely visit again.”

“One of my favorite restaurants in Harrisonburg. I grew up eating hummus and falafel, and the hummus here is maybe the only one I’ve ever liked as much as or better than my mom’s. The family who run the restaurant are so nice, and the food is incredible. My favorite is the chicken shawarma salad with cilantro lime dressing and a side of hummus. Yummmmmmm. Also they just recently renovated and redecorated the dining room and I think it feels much lighter and more spacious.”

The second time was at their Porchlight Plates, private dinner service which was managed by Brandon Tapley, whom I must say did an impeccable job! The food creations, by Maria Cooper, during this event was incredibly scrumptious! They provided a very memorable dining experience with beautiful ambience and decor! The service by Abby was impeccable and the live music by Tjax_21 was fantastic! I really can’t say enough good things about Broad Porch or recommend it enough! You simply have to try this place out.”

“Dec. 2023, we had our worse restaurant experience ever. My past review still shows here. After my review, we got a call from Applebee's asking us to give them another chance. I said no way because that visit had been us giving them a second chance. Eventually they offered us a large enough gift card that I took it. We just got around to using it and everything was good. Seated right away, service was excellent, low volume music was enjoyable, food came out quickly, and the food tasted good. We will be going back.”

“We stopped here on the way home from Shenandoah National Park. We don’t have one in our town so I enjoy stopping when there is one in the area. The chicken is great and I also like the waffle fries. Their food is consistently good and the service is always great! The place was very clean and staff friendly. The person the waited on us at the counter was out in the dinner area. She noticed we didn’t get water with our meal and offered to provide some if we wanted. It was thoughtful of her to do this. We had a while left to drive and the water was needed as we were farther down the road. I would like to thank her for doing a wonderful job.”

“Edit (as of 10/4/26): As I said in a previous review, the service here is never great. However, today - we had the BEST service we have ever had. Our waiter, DeAnna, was fabulous. I watched her run the restaurant single handed while others were no where to be seen. She got to our every need in no time flat. 11/10 stars for her. Macados - give that woman a raise.

We eat here regularly (mostly because of the 0.39$ wings and cheap beer) and to be honest the service is never the best. But we ignore it for the most part. However, today we had the worst experience. It started off good. (ie got our drinks, placed our order etc.) We ordered 2 appetizers. The first one came out in a timely manner - but it had tortilla chips instead of flatbread. No big deal. Then we wait a good 45 mins & the waitress hasn’t came back. By this time we are all out of drinks & our other appetizer hasn’t showed up. When shes come back she says itll be another 30 minutes on our food, including the other appetizer. Keep in mind all we ordered was wings, a wrap, & the appetizer is literally melted cheese and Tostitos chips on a plate. So, nothing time consuming to make. We ask for the manager. About 10 minutes later she brings our food out with the appetizer - most of the stuff was cold like it’s been sitting. The manager comes out. He was cool & took the appetizer off our bill & discounted the wrap. However, the waitress was not up to par - worse than normal macados servers. I hope we never get her again. Also - the restaurant wasnt even busy. ☹”

“I’m a traveling farrier so I eat out A LOT. I stumbled upon this little diner and was so pleasantly surprised. The food was AMAZING and bonus points for being extra fast service! Definitely recommend and will be back when I’m in the area!”

“Stopped for dinner heading home. Got a chicken breast and mashed potatoes. The lady that took our order was very patient and efficient. Everything tasted good. While we were there I was able to witness a kind young man carry a tray of food for an elderly man with a cane to the table for him. Very kind and considerate of him to help. For a fast food place the bathroom was immaculate on my visit. Did have to ask for forks, ketchup and hot sauce.”

But the food is what really stands out. Clean fresh food, minimal processed ingredients, well-balanced dishes - it truly is exceptional and a wonderful place to eat.
There are not many restaurants in Harrisonburg at which I can eat and not feel like crap afterward because of seed oils and so many processed ingredients but this ranks high on the list of my favorites.

Oh! And their water is filtered (I asked). You can really tell the difference - it is so much tastier. Please other Harrisonburg restaurants, follow suit with filtered water and better ingredients! 🙏”

“My daughter and I had lunch here on Easter Sunday and OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This will be our new favorite place to eat. We had the beef pan fried dumplings, the pork soup dumplings, and fried rice (the biggest best bowl ever!) I highly recommend going there.”

“I deliver from here. I admit the aroma isn’t always appealing to me. Inside the store or the bag. But today I tried the El Jefe bowl for the first time and it’s wonderful. I will compare it to eating at a Hawaiian Poke Bowl place I’ve been to in Wisconsin. I like the set up of the Hawaiian place cause it’s customizable like a Chipotle. Maybe they do that here too, but I didn’t know. I just got a to go, El Jefe bowl. Very filling. Probably eat three times from one bowl. People are super pleasant and helpful here. Thanks for dinner! “Everything about this place was phenomenal! The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was great, the service was fast, and it was super clean. Came in wanting something different than your typical pizza chain pizza, and they did not disappoint! From the crispy, flaky crust on the bottom to the thicker cut pepperoni on top, it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!”

“Great bread. Wish they had a store to get bread the rest of the week as they only sell at the Harrisonburg market on Saturdays. But their bread is delicious. Their granola is amazing. Everything I’ve tried I’ve been happy with.”
