I love this place- here’s a storyA D&A StoryIn my favorite little diner today, the D&A Cafe in Martinsville, Va, I noticed a guy waiting for a table. This happens a lot at this popular little place at lunch rush and I’ve been stuck waiting before myself. I know how inconvenient it is when you only have a half and hour for lunch.I signaled him to come join me if he wanted and he was appreciative and thanked me for offering on the way to a table just cleared off for him. I guess the only possibly unusual thing about it was that this older gentleman was black and I look a lot like General Lee ?Truth is I could give two hoots in hell what color a person is and, if I can help, I’m going to help. The fellow thanked me again as he was on his way out and I didn’t think anything of it until I got to the cash register and the proprietor told me that “that other fellow you offered a seat to paid your bill for you.”Now, If that doesn’t make you feel good, I don’t know what.Thank you, Sir ❤️

You seat yourselves, there was plenty of parking. The waitress and waiter were very friendly. I had the two egg breakfast, and I added tater tot's and a piece of tomato. The biscuits were completely delicious. I added a slice of cheese to one of them. The coffee is from a local business and not maxwell house but is as good or better. The biscuits were perfect and dense but fluffy. I could have just had a biscuit and have been full. We had excellent service. We will be going back tomorrow!

My rainy camping night earned me a real breakfast and this place was just the ticket. I went a bit out of my way to find it, but the drive was pretty and the end result was well worth the drive. From the outside, I had my doubts. This is not a fancy place. It's a local diner, and from what I could tell, it's locally beloved. I'm not a huge fan of eggs. I eat them because they provide protein. I'd eat eggs every morning if they were as good as D and A Cafe's scrambled eggs. Service was excellent. Price was exceptionally affordable. Bring cash. No cards.
