This place sucks now it use to be really good stopped by for early dinner got sat in a corner felt like they didn't want us there then completely forgot my appetizer and then never came to the table to check on us even after we got food then when we was up front to pay ask how was it and I said food was good service was awful I then got an attitude from cashier that was so bad I will never go back and I mean it I know 2 other Mexican restaurants that are better than this now. It was disappointing that one of my favorite places has gone downhill I should have known by how empty the restaurant was so I hope they get their act together but that cashier who looked like the owner was giving me the vibe after I spoke truth don't come back I don't want your money and I was loyal to them for years o well avoid place if you need recommendations let me know. You lost a loyal customer of over 8 years

We went taco Tuesday 3/26/24 me & my mom around 815 or so. We were greeted as we came in and the nice gentleman let us sit at an open booth close to the entrance so my disabled mom didn't have to walk far. This for sight is always a plus I get annoyed when we're made to walk far when there's open tables along the way. I know as a past server that a section could be closed and I take that into account if closing soon but when a restaurant is in mid swing an acception should be made as needed. Only a few people have thought gee I shouldn't have this lady struggle to get seated so that a server can be next or doesn't walk out of their section to take the next table...we had great service and the food was exceptional. The Tacos were filled pretty full. We got the chilli con queso and 3 tacos for around $16. We were very pleased with the entire experience! We highly recommend!

Ive been living in VA for about a month, and have been let down by several restaurants that were recommended as good and to me they just passed as edible establishments. But Rico's, they are worth my time and money. Nice Ambience to the place, a true vibe to a Mexican restaurant . I want to give thanks to our server Mauricio, told him what I was in the mood for and he told me what dish to get and how to amend it to my liking. Spicy is what I wanted and the Carne a la mexicana has a red tomatillo sauce that is HOT! First time I ever needed guacamole to calm the heat from a spicy Mexican dish. But the flavor kept me wanting more, I cleaned the plate. Speaking of guacamole, Mauricio made a fresh bowl of guac for me and my wife it was on point, not a single ingredient was overpowering it all Blended well together. My wife ordered the street tacos, they have six varieties and you get three to a plate , great deal in my opinion. They were flavorful and are great as an appetizer. I would recommend this place to anybody who's looking for good Mexican food. See you again soon!

Finally went out for my birthday dinner. We just moved to Mechanicsville over the weekend, my birthday was Saturday but we were not able to visit the restaurant over the weekend. Today we did and I'm so happy we did. The food was above and beyond our expectations, my husband could not stop dancing with every bite of his Steak a la Mexican because it was exactly the correct spicy to it. My T-bone steak with vegetables was super, the table guacamole ? is a must have. Mauricio did an outstanding job but barely towards the end of our meal we felt rushed by the other waiters but by Mauricio he was great. We even order steak and chicken fajitas to go and had the cheesecake dessert, the dessert was not my favorite but I'm glad I did not visit for the desert. We will be back because this is so far the best restaurant we have cost since moving to Virginia. Mauricio you did a fantastic job ?.

The food and atmosphere were acceptable. Service was not good. I placed an order to go and when I got there decided to eat in. Added two additional items to my order after I decided to eat in and was charged $.25 for Togo and $.25 for carry out. When I asked about it, it was brushed off. I thought $.50 was petty so reciprocated with a petty tip. I’m sure the waitstaff would’ve taken a $6 tip over $.50 for being petty.

Introduced to Rico's on Sunday by BFF Jasmine, and the food was great! I could have made a meal on the Chips & Salsa, Chorizo Dip (outstanding!) and Blue Margaritas alone, but could not leave without trying the Nacho Supreme and so glad I didn't. I will return.
