Egg foo young is terrible.... gravy looked like liquid mayonnaise and is so salty with no flavor like a new person experimenting on the food..The beef and broccoli the sauce was equally untraditional and bland...Worst meal ever!!!Nice people, but they need a cook!!!! OMG....The people that think this food is good have a very foul palette...

I do not ever put 1 star usually on the food unless it is something that does not match the description of the order, food had very bad taste or poor presentation. ( In my case it was a take out). Today I tried for the first time Golden Fortune Restaurant . I live in Norfolk for 25 years and never been to this place before. It was my misfortune to stop by the Golden Fortune )))First of all I expected my order to match the description to the menu.It was not right at all and it was made with different ingredients .The food (35$) ended up in the garbage ?.Kung Pao Chicken at first is made with red peppers, chille peppers ? ,peanuts and scallions and might sometimes have bamboo shoots.But here was not the case.Chicken taste like boiled chicken, there were mushrooms ,bamboo shoots and peanuts. The meal was made with brown sauce as most of the Chinese food in US is made.I also change the rice to fried rice wich is my favorite instead of steam rice. No taste , very blend and had frozen peas as some of them still not cooked . I included the pictures of the food i got and the pictures of the food item as described. You be the judge of it . As for the customer service i can't complain. The lady in front was a resl sweetheart.We go to the restaurant for the high quality food that tastes good and a smile of the personal is an addition.I do not recommend this place and I personally will never buy from them again .

Some of the best Chinese food in all of Tidewater comes out of this small hole-in-the-wall kitchen!!! I think we've tried 80-90% of their dishes and loved everyone of them. You can go other places and spend more, but you can't find better than Golden Fortune.

I will come back to this wonderful place anytime I am in downtown Norfolk. I love their food, I've never had a bad dish. The sesame pancakes are my absolute favorite to order, I always get an extra cup of sauce because it's so tasty. The fried dumplings are perfectly done and not too oily. The lumpia is also delicious and again while deep fried is not super oily. My mother favors their green beans which are crisp and always super fresh. I generally swap between the beef and broccoli and the chicken with Chinese veggies. Both pack so much flavor and always have perfectly cooked veggies that still have a bit of bite to them. And of course finish off your meal with the sugar coated fried donuts and a fortune cookie. You won't be disappointed, come check out one of the places Norfolk's finest even stop off to eat. That's when you know the food is tops!
