The owner of Mermaid Catering, Julie Aubrey, was easy to work with when I was planning my husband's "Celebration of Life".Her staff was phenomenal the day of the event. They made sure that everything was perfectly set up and cleaned up. It was such a relief for me, since I was able to focus on the program itself. Best of all the food was delicious and many of my guests came to me to let me know how much they enjoyed the luncheon. They were worth every penny!

The food we’ve had from Mermaid has all been delicious and cooked perfectly. I’m giving only 4 stars due to an issue with their packaging. When I last ordered I spent a lot of money for a tenderloin roast. (Which is fine, it’s an expensive cut of meat) unfortunately, It was delivered wrapped in tin foil inside a plastic grocery store style shopping bag. It leaked everywhere. Tbh, as good as the food is, this issue has stopped me from ordering again. Having a $100+ roast thrown in a leaky plastic bag for delivery was really off-putting for me.

I live in Maryland and had no one to help me find a good company that could help me catered my wedding at Virginia Beach! The service this company provided was good, however, I got buffet style form their options and their fish was EXTREMELY dry! I couldn’t even enjoy the flavor because it was to dry to even taste it. The risotto was CRUNCHY!!!! And the beef was dry as well! I was so sad and disappointed when I tried their food :(I was looking to get a unique experience!

Mermaid Catering did an outstanding job catering our party. The food was outstanding and the service was superb. The process was easy from start to finish with plenty of great menu choices. Ryan, the attendant, arrived early and had the serving area looking very professional when the guests arrived. He was a tremendous help throughout the event. I will use Mermaid Catering again, highly recommended!
We hosted a 2016 event for 60 people and hired Julie for Indian food. It was all pretty mushy and tasteless. The guests were gracious and ate it anyway, but only enough to be polite. Julie was curt on the phone and in person. She tried to put up a huge cardboard advertisement for her business next to the buffet, which my husband immediately told her to get rid of. One of her staff people stepped over the baby gate and used the bathroom in the kids area because he said, the one we told them to use was "occupied". Later, he was literally taking a piss in our yard, on the edge of the property, into the fence, which borders the Admiral's home. Julie left very early in the event. Never hired nor recommended them after that.

The 2 attendants they sent were absolutely wonderful in all aspects! They were friendly, organized and extremely professional! I would/will highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future!! It made our experience so much easier and I was able to enjoy the party with everyone else! OH…. and did I mention the food was fabulous!?!! ????
