Came in around 1pm on a Sunday! Completely empty and we were able to get delicious bibimbap in hot stone pots! About $15 each. I chose the seafood and my 3 other friends had beef. It was delicious and I loved the miso soup and side dishes (came in a cute tray) that came with it. Quick and friendly service. Very lowkey place next to the eastgate ride and share, highly recommended. Ps. Korean bbq prices are a lot more pricey, so that's why we did normal entrees

Bad service, not friendly, hardly any food, no refills of food for barbecue very disappointing. Worst of all, doesn't say thank you.

They denied access to a service dog, saying that their policy is to allow only "sense dogs," which they explained is only for the blind. This entirely against the law. ADA requires that service animals be allowed inside, and it makes no distinctions such as "sense" dogs and blindness vs other disability. Just letting people know who may be in a similar situation.

Food was not bad. Beef bugoglgi was good and tasty. Pricing is expensive and not worth the value of what you are paying for. Quality of Food: 6/10 Service: 6/10 - they don't tell you that you can box up the food and take away at the end. Even though the menus says you can't. Pricing: 3/10 way to expensive Cleanliness: 5/10 Professional look: 3/10 place is old, out dated and doesn't make you feel comfortable

As someone that has been spoiled by the LA Korean food scene, I admittedly am a bit of a snob when it comes to Korean cuisine. Southgate definitely made the grade!! First off, the interior immediately makes you feel at home, classic Korean restaurant interior. Bbq tables have vent hoods which does wonders in minimizing the smell of meat on your clothes. As soon as you sit down they set you up with the classic trio of soybean paste, raw jalapeños and raw garlic to accompany your bbq (another sign of a great authentic kbbq restaurant, when that trio is a given and you don't have to ask for them.) They also have thinly sliced radish wraps alongside and don't forget the sesame oil with sea salt We ordered combo number one which came with galbi, thinly sliced brisket and thick cut pork belly. All the meat was so fresh, and you could clearly tell they never saw the inside of a freezer. The combo also came with white rice and of course a banchan set (see my photos for a detailed list of the banchan.) The combo was $62 and let me tell you, that's about the same you would pay for 2 people at a ayce spot and this beats any ayce spot in WA by miles and it was plentiful (with food leftover to take home for second dinner!) I also loved that they brought us 2 sets of tongs, one for each of us, such a nice touch because most places bring you one pair of tongs, leaving one person to do all the cooking or, resulting in a meal long game of pass the tongs (which only disrupts your feasting!!) The staff was also super attentive and friendly Overall a definite 5 star experience, I will be a frequent diner!!!

If you've had a lot of kbbq before this probably won't be the best you've ever had, but this one is solid! Nice sauces, good meat quality, pretty clean overall. A nice place to satisfy a sudden kbbq craving!

The staff was super accommodating and kind even though we showed up late. The food had good portions and prices as well

So yum! Not sure how it would be without people to order for us who knew what they were doing, but it seems like you couldn't go wrong. Everything was amazing.

Well, in a word, this place is a gem. Our first time here was early on a weekday evening. Wonderful aromas and a smiling wait staff are there to greet you when you enter, and seating is very comfortable. We opted for BBQ so we were seated at a table with the central grill and overhead smoke hood. A cup of hot barley tea was poured for each person as the menus were distributed and the servers remained attentive throughout our visit. Though it was just my wife and myself, we ordered two BBQ choices, the beef and the pork bulgogi, and we also ordered the Soondubu jjigae w/ mushroom medley (boiling soft spicy tofu stew). Very quickly after we placed our order, the banchan arrived. What a nice selection it was! We each were served our own banchan in multi-well dishes that looked like a muffin tin strip. Very nice touch and hygienic, too if you are eating with persons that are not immediate family. The tofu soup was one of the best I have had anywhere, even in Korea. Tofu was very soft and fresh and turned into fluffy bits as it boiled in front of us in the serving bowl. We enjoyed that as we grilled the pork and beef. The smoke hood was flawless, and so effective. It was not drafty at all. Neither of us reeked of BBQ smoke after we left the restaurant! The portion size for the meats was enormous...enough to feed four as a healthy portion, and certainly enough for three for bigger appetites. We took home enough for a 2nd meal! Moreover, the cuts of both beef and pork were of the highest quality. This was NOT just blobs of gristle-filled shreds of inferior meats. The rice was perfectly cooked and served individually. Also, contrary to what you do NOT get in many "Korean" BBQs today, the BBQ here was served with the traditional Romaine lettuce leaves and the ssamjang paste so you can make the ssambap, which are the delicious Korean "lettuce wraps" of meat, rice and ssamjang paste. Excellent! The restaurant offers a selection of Korean beers and Soju to accompany the meal. As I said at the outset, this place is a real gem. It is far and away the best Korean BBQ restaurant in the area, and we have tried most all of them.

Our go-to Korean restaurant! This place has been here for many many years. Solid food and service.

The waitress there is really rude. In fact, I haven't seen such rude waitress for quite a long time. I left the message because I would like owner to take a look. It is not that hard to welcome customers with polite words.

As a Korean, I'd recommend this Korean place both for its authentic Korean food and Kbbq. Solid takeout and dine in experiences. I haven't had a bad experience so far. The kbbq is tasty and takeout is good. Soondubu here isn't as tasty as my favorite Korean places, but it's still really good. I typically go here when I'm feeling too cheap for Exit 5 or I don't want the pork shoulder from the combo. Overall the meat and sauce doesn't taste as good as Exit 5, but it comes pretty close.

It is unfortunate that I am leaving this meh two star review which is unsual but I want the owner to read and make some changes for his own business. First of all, the food is pretty good. I'd recommend it. Secondly, their staff are working super hard and attend to as many tables as they can. Then why would I give only two stars? After we were seated and ordered, there was absolutely no update whatsoever on our order for 30 minutes. Finally, I had to call one of the servers and asked what's going on. I was simply told "We have too many orders. I am sorry". Eventually, we got the food we ordered and it was great as usual. I have been coming to his place for over a decade. Here is what I think they should improve. - Set the expectation before we settle. Tell us if the food will take 30 mins plus because they have tons of orders so we can make an informed decision rather just sitting and wondering what's going on. - Stop taking customers if the restaurant is not capable of handling them. - Hire more cook. It looks like all the servers were working hard and efficiently. They were literally running from a table to another. - Hire more servers. As a loyal customer I want this place to be even more successful than it has been but it will need to take a moment and see what could be improved. Good luck.

Frankly, not the best restaurant in looks. Parking can be tight. Building looks run down. And, inside, not particularly attractive. And, vents are not great, so you walk out smelling BBQ'd. Ha. However, food is quite good. We, just the two of us, have not tried their bbq, as their prices of bbq meats are quite daunting. It only works for large groups, splitting the cost. Dinner menu is manageable, but only for some low cost items like cold noodles and tofu stew. However, they offer quite a few items at reasonable price on their lunch menu. Wife and I have enjoyed their bulgogi, bibimbap, yook gaejang, and rice cake soup. Last note. Perhaps I should have been more aware, but it appears most of the Southgate Garden (and Korean restaurants in general) "noodle" offerings are yam noodles. The texture and taste of yam noodles maybe something that non-Koreans expect. So, order and try it, but don't be surprised.

Pretty decent Korean restaurant in this area. Foods taste better compare to other nearby Korean restaurants in my opinion.
