“i got the BART sandwichThe first thing I have to comment on was the environment of this restaurantI came here on a pretty sunny day - and it was absolutely the perfect time to be here - as they have a fantastic outdoor seating areathey even have a sand pit!the layout, architecture, and art of this place gives off a great tropical/caribbean vibe, which is not something I'd expect from a place in SeattleAs for the sandwich itself - it was quite goodThe buns were roughly average I would say - there could've been more aioli added to it to give it a bit more flavor - and it was slightly harder than i would likeThe best part, by far, though, was the porkWhen I say this sandwich was absolutely loaded with pork I'm not exaggerating. It was quite literally overflowing out of the sandwich as I tried to pick it upEating this with one hand is practically impossible as you'll lose so much pork to the wrapperThe taste of it was quite fantastic as well - it had a slight sour flavor, had tons of fat, and most importantly had a nice, dark, almost-brown colorThere were certain pieces that were actually charred enough to have one side be fully black - and these were incredibleMoving on to the other toppings, the sweet ham was also really good, as well as the cucumbers (which normally i don't like) and picklesI noticed maybe a couple jalapenos and didn't taste the onions muchthe swiss cheese i felt was a bit inconsistent. I didn't taste it much for most of the sandwich, but it showed up near the end a lotI recently got a similar sandwich from Paseo, so I feel like I should compare the twoPaseo's sandwich certainly has a lot more oil, and this is less 'wet' than that one - this is also because the pork in Paseo is cooked to a lower temperature, which makes it more juicy so it releases more liquid, compared to the more brown pork we get hereI do think i prefer the pork there slightly, but it's pretty close. You do get more pork here compared to there, thoughWhile I liked the type of bun at Paseo better, I do really like the fact that the buns here are toasted - which is something they don't do over thereThe onions are certainly more prevalent, larger, and in my opinion better at PaseoThey have more aioli as well, but I would give the edge to the rest of the toppings herePricing wise it's roughly the same - although I think Paseo's sandwich is slightly bigger and more fillingI think I would give the slight edge to Paseo on this one - but it's pretty close. Both places are fantasticOverall, fantastic sandwich in a great environment. 8.5/10“
“Cons: the inside of the building is always a bit too hot in my opinion and the food is a little pricier than the other nearby options. Pros: EVERYTHING ELSE. The food is excellent, with my favorite being the brisket with a side of yams and mac and cheese. I especially like the mac and cheese, which has a really unique flavor to it you can't get anywhere else. The service is also great, with the staff hitting a comforting balance between casualness and professionalism. Overall, 5/5 stars, I always leave with a smile :)“
“Server was welcoming, booths were comfortable, and food was delicious! We ordered a couple entrees and a couple sides to share, which was the perfect amount of food, but I can't wait to go back and try the things I didn't get this time around, especially the other sides! Coconut corn muffins were the bomb! Got them instead of a dessert and left happy and full!“
“First time visiting Seattle and this was walking distance and thought we'd pop in. It was a Monday so the speakeasy was closed. But still enjoyed our time without a reservation walked in and sat immediately. The host was friendly and also took our orders which was simple enough. The ambiance was fun and pirates decor was cool. It was guest bartender night and they gave her a round of applause which was kinda cool. We tried 2 drinks the Puerto Rican Pina colada and the Surf School Swizzle both were very good and very strong. They say "Rum forward" for a reason. The banana foster with coconut ice cream was a nice snack to kill the rum taste. But it tastes like fair fried food so if you like greasy fried banana go for it.“
“Wow just amazing. I ordered the Jerk Chicken plate off of Uber eats and it was so good it came with plantains, rice, coleslaw, special sauces. You can tell the people at this restaurant really care about the food they’re making it tasted so perfect.“
“This place is so cute. The servers were busy but kind, and the food taste was good. If you have a picky eater in the family be really particular about what you order(ie my son ordered nachos but they come with pineapple and thick slices of sautéed onion...unique flavor but not at all what he was expecting)“
“I ordered the Jerk Shrimp with rice and peas and fried plantain. Everything was seasoned well and very delicious. The portion size was great, I had half for dinner and the rest for lunch. Service was prompt and friendly. I only stayed to get my order but while I was there, the music was nice.“
“If I'm ever anywhere near this area I ALWAYS go to Pam's kitchen. Everything is amazing, get a side of Chicken curry and Paratha Roti and you've got an excellent, affordable and utterly delicious meal. Whatever kind of meat you get is always incredibly tender, get the Jerk Chicken and the meat falls off bone. The drinks are really tasty and if you've never had Sorrel drinks, GET IT! Sooo good. I would have pictures but it's impossible not to dig in when the food arrives!“
“Truly unreal experience, vibes 10/10, service 10/10, food 10/10. Crazy delicious!! Came in for a late lunch w my girlfriend and was hella lowkey, dope reggae dub playing, server was crazy nice and welcoming, and the food was out of this world. Can't wait to pop back in!“
“Visited Arleana's when they opened and thought the food was mediocre. Under Executive Chef Jacob Howell, the food is SUPERB! Visited for dinner on Tuesday and returned for brunch yesterday. Both meals were sooooo tasty! The salmon for the brown-stewed dinner dish was cooked perfectly; the chicken and biscuit at brunch was a treat for my taste buds! I am not a fan of pimento cheese, but I would happily have that spread on ANYTHING. The Brussels sprouts we ordered were so good, I asked for some to go and they heated up nicely in my air fryer. If you've visited before - give it another try - you WILL NOT be disappointed!!!!!“
