Probably my favorite restaurants in Yakima. The space is inviting, and tastefully decorated, with a large open kitchen. Probably one of the few restaurants in Yakima that would not feel at all out of place in Seattle, or NYC, or another large city - not bashing Yakima at all, but just a much more ‘hip’ vibe then most other places in the area. The Asian-fusion menu rotates frequently, and is always thoughtful, innovative, and honestly just delicious. It is a bit limited, but at the same time, there always seems to be a good range of options from salads, to fish, to ramen, and a number of staples. Much of the menu (if not all) is designed to be shared, small-plates style, and has always been just wonderfully prepared.Service has always been friendly, and a lot more easy going then you would expect for a higher end place - which is a good thing. The prices are higher then many other restaurants in the area, but are justified by the quality of the food, service, and just experience that they offer. Just one of the best restaurants in Yakima.

The food carries the day, which is what you want in a restaurant. I love the spicy mushroom tan tan ramen but haven't strayed too far into the limited menu. Great broth and succulent veggies make for a guilt-free meal. This place is a hidden gem, speaking of the food. The decor is wanting, as the framed art clashes with the lighting. The choice of repeating background music is confusing, and service matches music. Order quickly, as you may not see your waitress again - impressive for a tiny restaurant. Pay-by-phone payment saved me from still being there waiting for my bill.

This was my first visit to tokkiya and I was pleasantly surprised. There are pros and cons to this place that I think will help people who haven't been here before. Pros: food is high quality. Service was good. There is a 40s and under crowd with majority being 30s. I felt I finally found where all the people who are cool and not obsessed with tap beer go. Cons: too loud- I was seated in the center and very overwhelmed by the noise. There were probably 32 people to my left and 10 to my right. If I had been able to sit farther from the door and it wasn't slammed (busy) this would have been a delightful experience. Don't sit in front of the door. (It was my only choice) but every time that door opened I was freezing. I only took off my gloves to eat. Also- the lighting is super low. I could barely see what I was eating. It was delicious, so I didn't worry much. Oh the last con- you must pay $2 to add an egg to your bimbimbap and it doesn't come with the usual extras you get with it and no kimchee. I've never had bimbimbap that didn't come with kimchee. But- I loved the mushrooms that came with the dish. It was very tasty.

How is it ALWAYS SO GOOD? I live in Portland and come to Tokki ya EVERY time I'm in town. I can't believe we got so lucky to have Greg Perrault open a restaurant in Yakima. Every time, I struggle to not order ALL the things. I have to get the cucumber peanut sesame salad, the poke, Hamachi collar - and omg don't sleep on the eggplant when they have it. Tonight the Korean French onion soup was delightful. My dad's fave is the fried chicken, my siblings are devotees of the okonomiyaki waffle - and how can you pass up the flavorful perfect ramen?? Thanks Greg and Michelle for the always amazing experience!!

Food and service were excellent. You can tell they are very intentional with ingredient sourcing and flavors, which is hard to find. The lady who greeted us went over the menu and was very welcoming and friendly. Definitely will be back!

Adding to the chorus of 5 star reviews! This is a well run restaurant with a staff that clearly cares about the complete experience of providing outstanding food with inviting atmosphere. The staff were especially kind to our 5 year old son who *cannot* sit still. Many restaurants will give you the stink eye and rush you out the door. The staff here gave our son plenty of stickers, brought his meal out first, and directly engaged with our son to keep him entertained. These little extras were noticed and much appreciated. Thank you!The atmosphere is modern, hip and clean. The food, where do I start? The food is a 10/10. Fantastic full yet subtle flavors, fresh, and made with love. I've eaten ramen in NYC, San Fran, Seattle, Portland and DC. I would put Tokki-Ya's food up against any of the best ramen places in the big city.

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat in Yakima. One thing I have learned about Yakima since moving here is the call for supporting local businesses. So go support one of the most delicious and local restaurants in town.

My wife and I always debate about who had the better dinner. Everything we have tried has been exceptional. The Ramen bowl is beyond description. So many favors, and all in balance! Add to that a variety of textures and a wonderful visual appeal! So much thought has gone into each dish! The atmosphere is casual and friendly. The staff is very attentive. Top marks!

We enjoy ALL of the food we've had, but are especially excited whenever they have ramen (follow them on social media to get notified when there's ramen). Our 5-year-old requests "Ramen-Ya" all the time!
