I walked past this place to get to our dinner destination thinking a dive bar drink after dinner having drinks with dinner in a nice place would be a great contrast. With all the cool trendy places on Oakland I was surprised to see a dive bar in the area so how could I not go in. Axel's dive bar aesthetic is a snapshot of a by-gone era on the Eastside. Axel's has evolved over the years from being a local neighborhood bar to being the hangout for the UWM students to being something in between these days. Everyone is welcome! Always a game on the tv with great specials on drinks. Super laid back, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Pool tables are always available when I go.
