Bartender was friendly but drinks were not good. We had a vodka tonic and an old fashion. The VT was just straight up flat tonic. No vodka. The old fashion was like all old fashion mix and cherry’s. Super bummer because it seemed like it could be a decent dive bar.

Friday Night Fish Fry was terrific. Perfect light breading. Lots of choices for sides including very good potato pancakes. My wife strayed off the Fish Fry menu and had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and it was the best she's had outside of Nashville. Another person in our party had the baked cod which in my opinion at some places can be kind of dry, but at Benno's it was nice and moist. The food arrived very quickly and everything was piping hot and fresh. A big bonus is the extensive craft beer list. Overall great value. The service was phenomenal and the restaurant/bar was astonishingly spotless. I can't think of anything bad to say about this place. This was our first time at Benno's and we will definitely be back!

This place started the beer game in Milwaukee and is still doing it the right way. 40ish beers on tap, an excellent fish fry on Friday's and the staff is always on top of their game. If you haven't been to downtown west allis in a while this is a must stop place to check out.

My husband and I were looking for a good, local fish fry and stumbled upon this place. We got the beer battered cod (I think that's what it was) and it was SO good. I've only had a few fish fry's and this was by far the best. The tartar sauce is really good too and their fries are perfectly crispy and salty. Highly recommend!
