Awesome atmosphere for a good German beer hall. The decor and paintings are great! They have a good selection of German beer and lots of cocktails. The food menu is traditional. We really enjoyed the hot pretzel, but it wasn't as "giant" as we were hoping. The prices aren't cheap but also not super expensive. There is a front room, back room, and an outdoor beer garden. German bar with amazing atmosphere and walls full of tshatshkies. It's worth it to go just to see the decorated beerstein collection they have all over the place.Great selection of German and local beers, Spaten by the litre being my favorite currently. For many years Von Trier has been the quintessential German bar in Milwaukee's east side. I used to live so close to it and now that I'm no longer in Wisconsin I miss it. Von Trier is, I should say, more German than many of the German bars I've visited while traveling in Germany.
