We decided to try something different for a fish fry. We expected the restaurant to be German themed but were pleasantly surprised by the live Polka music! The crowd was a bit older, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was definitely an experience that you don't find much in Wisconsin much anymore and reminded me of my childhood a little. The soup and salad bar was great! The Cod fish fry itself was kind of blah and lukewarm. My baked potato was the same. The table service was slower but not terrible. We kind of expected that and were not in a rush other than we had also placed a to go order.

Had our annual fishing clubs banquet here on Saturday. They served almost 150 people with exceptional service, food and a professional staff. They are setup perfectly for our event, and is the reason we all look forward to the event. I would highly recommend them to accommodate your special group gathering. Thanks again to your staff.

This is a first class restaurant. My wife and I were there for a Friday fish fry. We had the Haddock which was excellent. We are a little older so the amount of fish we received was way too much as there are four large pieces . We ended up taking fish home but, it is never good warmed up.

The manager took care of us two days in a row. Good old corner bar with popcorn, cold beer and Amazing brats. Sheboygan has a lot of great food choices but we went back to The Tavern @ Al & Al’s because of the food and the service.

Step back in time to a family style restaurant of the 70’s. As you enter, a bar is on the right and the restaurant on the left side of a rather cavernous room. Long tables accommodate large groups with some round tables for 2-4 in the back.It seemed there was only one waitstaff and a bartender out front so it took us about 5 minutes to figure out that we should seat ourselves since no one was around. No frills just food. The onion soup was flavorful, otherwise the presentation, complexity of tastes, and service were extremely mediocre. The sauerbraten was quite a disappointment, and we had selected this based on other reports. The waitstaff did warm up with personality as we paid the bill. And, they did allow us to split a German Combo platter, which was generous and appreciated. We did talk with a couple at the next table…this may give an idea of its lack of character. Someone at the bar said the Reuben sandwich was the best they had ever eaten. As of May 25, 2023, this restaurant was open, although now it says closed on TripAdvisor. I’m glad we’ve moved past the 70’s!
