“We went for a hot dog and were pleasantly surprised to find this place. It seems it is a fairmont classic for hot dogs. The staff were friendly and we had the best hot dog of the day on our hot dog road trip! Just a heads up; it is cash only.”

“Atmosphere- 5 stars- this quant little eatery resides in an old building on the end of the Mid-City bridge located on the West side of Fairmont WV. The inside has been redone making it a modern yet cozy area decorated with photos of well known chefs and vines of white flowers accented with white lights strung on the wall. The place is super clean and offers a small area with deserts and bakery items.Service- 5 stars- Kevin was our waiter and he was friendly and very attentive.Food- 5 stars- they offer daily specials and a decent beer and wine list. I had the dirty rice with chicken, beef and hot peppers. It was awesome. It must be a popular dish because I saw many people ordering it. I also had the roasted red pepper chicken bisque for a starter and again it was delicious. My wife got the blackened chicken breast sandwich with Swiss cheese and a side of fries. She said it was one of the best chicken sandwiches she had ever had.I would highly recommend stopping here. From what I understand it’s get quite busy in the evenings. We went mid afternoon and beat the rush.Parking: Small side lot which when restaurant is busy could fill up fast however there is street parking in the area and it’s free.”

“Went to creek n rail today for the first time! We definitely weren’t disappointed! The food was delicious and the staff was friendly! Their sweet tea and white pizza are the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend going!”

“You've heard of hole-in-wall places, but this one is literally a door in the wall. You will question if more than 10 people can fit inside, but don't let that keep you out. The entrance way is a touch narrow, but once you pass the ordering area it opens up! Tables, comfy chairs, a group gathering space. Yep, all just past that tiny door. I found myself up that way last summer and of course I quickly sought out somewhere to enjoy quality coffee. In conversation with another artist, he mentioned Joe and upon seeing the Yelp photos I knew where I would be spending the next few hours. If you're a visitor like myself, know there is free parking at the end of the block (going downhill) on the left. Also, take the time to walk around the quaint downtown area. Now about Joe's. This is truly a coffee shop and bar in one. And since there's a full food menu, also a cafe. You will find something to eat and sip no matter what time of day. I of course ordered my go-to, an Americano. I settled into a chair with the vantage point of three people playing Monopoly, two others sketching, a couple flirting at the bar, and what appeared to be a family gathering taking place in the larger room. There are board games and books to borrow, local art on the wall for purchase, and plenty of cool Joe schwag to take home (including beans). The Americano was perfection in a cup. The bean, roast, and pull were some of the best you will find. About halfway through it, I saw someone with their house made cinnamon bun. Talk about envy in your heart! But alas I opted for a seasonal latte so I could take it and walk around the downtown. I know they've been around for a few years, and I hope they're around for many more.”

“I don't live in the area anymore but I get the opportunity a couple times a year to eat here. I absolutely love the asparagus salad. It's the best salad I have ever eaten. I normally get a main dish and an asparagus salad to go.”

“This place is always fantastic! The waitresses are so sweet and the food is always delicious! We have went as a group of two and we have had as many as eight people and they never get anything wrong. We have never had to send anything back. Their rye bread and the homemade raisin bread are fantastic! I love that they have fresh cut fries! Salads are delicious as is the steak sandwich but eight times out of 10 we get a sampler for breakfast which leaves you filled for a great price! Highly recommend!”

“The hot dog game is competitive in Fairmont. These guys are ready to Stand toe to toe with legends. The guys behind the counter engaged each and every person. The welcoming nature of everyone was a nice touch. The dogs were spot on. I like my dogs spicy and when they say hot, these provided a kick.”

“Homestyle Italian cooking. Different special everyday and those specials do run out, especially the pepperoni rolls and pierogis. A case with meats, cheeses, salads, Italian sausage (ground or rope) that you can take home and cook yourself. Take out only. Very tasty. I try to stop at least once a month. They only take cash right now so keep that in mind.Vegetarian options: No veggie options that I am aware of.Parking: Smallish parking lot. Dairy Creme Corner is a local institution! Their portions are absolutely insane! Try finishing a large ice cream cone! They closed for the winter season on October 8, 2023! They will reopen in Spring 2024.”

“My wife and I enjoyed the food. Drove up from SC to visit her father. You will get more food than you can eat. The owners were very hospitable and joked to flatten our tires so we could stay for dinner. Definitely going back on our next visit!!”

“Recently made a stop to Short Story. Such a great place to visit. Food was delicious and my husband enjoyed his beer. The employees were super friendly while answering questions and having conversations. The area was clean and relaxing. I loved the merchandise options which included Christmas bulbs, drinking cups and beanies. Highly recommended!”

“It’s great, we ordered food to go and they put the ingredients in small containers (they are supposed to be on the fires btw) so our fires wouldn’t get soggy on the way home. They also have a new guy whose atmosphere and service is amazing. Their food is nicely priced and even an appetizer is fulfilling. I live nearby so I know what I’m talking about. :)”

“Prices are on the higher side but they are so busy taking orders and making food the wait times can be longer. The place is always clean, food is good but potions can be on the smaller side for the prices. The place is tiny both in the dining room, parking lot and where they make the food so more than 8, 10 people inside and you're elbow to elbow with others. They do give free pup cups that are little cups of vanilla ice cream with tiny milkbones in it but the last time I got my dogs one there weren't any bones which is fine, it's free.”

“Wow, we have lived in Fairmont for a few years now but it’s taken us this long to order from here. Too much time wasted! This place is the absolute best. It’s everything you want from Chinese takeout and more. I had the general tso tofu and vegetable lo mein. The tofu was crispy, and the general tso sauce is the best I’ve had in years, I loved the spice to it. The vegetable lo mein was exactly right, cooked perfectly. The crab rangoons are probably the best in Fairmont and Whitehall, at least.Not to mention, everything was packaged perfectly - not a single missing sauce, side, soy sauce packets, napkin, etc. And for the price? You can’t beat it. 5 stars, this is our new takeout spot from now on.”

“It's a honky tonk dive bar. The wings are good too. Hard to find a place that maintains their fryer correct enough to produce good wings. Also the sauce doesn't taste like bottled prepared stuff. Certain small details are taken care of like mixing your own sauce which is automatically miles better than any bottled wing sauce.”

“It's Little Caesars Pizza, so you know exactly what you're getting. This one always seems to have Hot N Ready always Hot N Ready. I personally have never had to wait, so that's a plus. That alone makes it one of the top Little Caesars around the area. Access in and out is also smooth thanks to a traffic light.”

“Very CLEAN subway!! Was very impressed with the cleanliness of this subway! We came in with a van load of teenagers and the staff for us through quickly and correctly! One worker misunderstood what one of our teens orders and when she was made aware she handled it very well. Very good cutover service. Didn’t miss a beat, she acknowledge the mix up and immediately offered to fix the sandwich. If you are driving through this side of the country and need to pop into somewhere to get a quick bite to eat- this subway would be great!Vegetarian options: Salads that can be made without meat. The lay out of the subway is spacious enough for a wheel chair. The bathroom is easily accessible and for most wheelchairs the width of the door should work perfectly.”
