We were unsure about booking a wine tour but the tour was informative, personal and fun, we never felt rushed. The wine was delicious! There was no hard sell, it is a very relaxed family set up. It is not one of the big boys but it is what Napa is all about...good wine and good fun!!! You wont be dissapointed with a visit to Truchard..Highly recommended!!!!Justin was brilliant!“

“Myself and my wife visited during a trip to Napa to do some tasting at a few wineries back in September 2023. We had an absolutely amazing time and Skip was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the vineyards history and wines we were tasting. It had a lovely, more family run, feel to it and Hendry was definitely our favourite winery of the ones we visited. We will definitely have to visit again next time we’re over in the States.“

Trefethen Family Vineyards Wineries • $$

“My wife and I went here for a late afternoon tasting. We really enjoyed this place as it has a very old world Spanish feel to it. The gardens are stunning, and if you book ahead of time, and can do your tasting in the family home, it is well worth it. This venue have a 90 year old sequoia tree, beautiful flowering gardens, a well rounded veggie garden, beautiful fountains, and birds that are constantly chirping/singing. My wife and I did the cheese and wine tasting, but I know this venue also has a garden meal & tasting, which from looking around at our fellow wine goers, also looked very tasty. Great Experience, especially if you are an outdoor lover.“

Joe was our tasting host and he was an absolute delight! His unpretentious approach was welcoming and refreshing for a Napa tasting room. The wines were lovely and I couldn't believe how reasonable the price point was. The tasting room is housed in a beautiful Victorian in downtown Napa. Absolutely an awesome experience“

RD Winery Winery • $$
3 Executive Way, Napa

“My fiance and I were planning an overnight trip to Napa with our pet. I had initially planned to check out specific dog-friendly wineries, but we took our time leaving from the South Bay to Napa and didn't allot enough time to check those places out. Instead, I took a chance at looking into wineries by our hotel and hoped for the best. I did a google search of the area and found that RD Winery was a quick 4 minute drive from our hotel. A huge plus was that the winery was also one of the first stops off the main highway, so we didn't have to drive an extra 30 minutes for more popular spots. I was incredibly pleased with our time at RD Winery, and it ended up being the only winery we visited during our entire afternoon! We arrived at RD Winery around 4pm on a Saturday. The place wasn't busy at all, and we were informed that we had just missed a rush of people. This worked out to our favor, because it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. They were also very dog-friendly, and it was nice that my dog got plenty of space to roam while on leash. I did the chocolate and wine tasting, which I would HIGHLY recommend. It was such a sensory experience. I went home with a few wines because of their unique compositions. i.e. the reisling (sweet and citric), sauvignon blanc (crisp apple), veltliner (bitter tones), and zinfandel (spiciness?). I really understood the Vietnamese influences. The chocolates from Socola, a chocolatier by two Vietnamese sisters from SF, were amazing in their own right. The pho, durian, and guava chocolates were out of this world. The pho truffle was spot on with its brothy flavor. The durian white chocolate was fire, and I don't even like durian. The pâte de fruit of the guava truffle was juicy and flavorful.Lastly, the customer service and hospitality at RD Winery were exceptional. There were 4 employees during the time we were there, and they were all friendly and interactive. The staff member who walked us through our tasting was so professional and really flexed her knowledge about the wines and chocolates.“

Darioush Wineries • $$$
4240 Silverado Trail, Napa

“The Darioush winery is a fantastic place to visit. The grounds and the architecture were a feast for our eyes. It was nice learning how Darioush brought his Iranian culture to his winery. We enjoyed strolling around the tasting room admiring the artwork chosen by his wife. We purchased the wine pairing with food and Darioush did not disappoint. We liked having our own private seating area with our own wine steward. After tasting the flight, we left with 3 bottles of wine and wonderful memories of the day!“

ZD Wines Winery •
8383 Silverado Trail, Napa

“There are times in life when you just need to step back and reflect on an experience that seems like a normal occurrence when in reality it was indeed a special event. Being able to take in two special but distinctive wineries was learning experience and appreciation of what really good vineyards accomplish. ZD (Zero Defects) Wines definitely tops the charts in the true Napa experience. Upon arrival, it seems the isolated property is without splashy fanfare. But once you pass through the large glass doors, you realize that the wine tasting you are about to have is indeed top notch. The hostess promptly seated us to a picturesque view of the Napa Valley basin with their vineyards in the foreground. Just to take in the view and architecture gives you an appreciation of the thought ZD Wines wanted for their visitors. After going through the 2021 Founder's Reserve Pinot and 2007 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, it was time for the Main Event; Abacus XXV 25th Bottling. What I knew about wine at this point was infantile compared to what I was going to experience. My tasting was a 3-oz serving through a Coravin pour; if you've never seen one done, it's quite a visual display and way to keep the cork in the bottle to retain it's freshness. Upon first sip, I realized that Abacus XXV was no ordinary wine and that all the other fermented grapes that I had in the past were just Welch's Grape soda. My palate immediately knew how special this wine was; not a tiny hint of acidity or bitterness that even average/good wines have. The aroma was pleasantly floral with the harmonious balance of sweetness. My friend ending up purchasing a 3-bottle pack, we were escorted downstairs where they stock all their barrels. Nice finishing touch to a great visit. Thanks to ZD Wines, I will no longer be able to have a "normal" glass of wine during a steak dinner without recalling what a truly wonderful wine should be; they have spoiled me and I'm all the more better for it. Should you ever find yourself looking for a winery to experience in Napa, do not hesitate to make ZD Wines at the top of your list“

Napa Valley Tasting Barn Winery • $$
1021 Atlas Peak Rd, Napa

“For over 7 years I've been enjoying Prime Solum wines. They have a huge vineyard ranch in Napa on the west facing “Silverado Bench" with excellent Cabernet, Pinot and Petite Verdot known as Brokenrock terror. It's beyond excellent vine. Bill Hill, the proprietor and wine master has been in Napa since the early 1970's. They also source excellent wines in the Russian River and Anderson Valley areas. I especially like their Pinots from these areas, yet the Brokenrock Cabernet's are a favoriate. We enjoy their Tasting Barn on Atlas Peak Road at Monticeilo Rd. It’s a great way to try a variety of their premium wines in a very comfortable setting just a few miles north is their Brokenrock Ranch. You feel like you're in Napa of the 80's where the focus is on wine tasting, and not a commercial, retail setting like too many tasting rooms in Napa Valley today.I highly recommend you add a stop to their Tasting Barn when in Napa for truly fine wines.“

“Parents/Caretakers - this place is for you! Animals (Jack the donkey, Gertrude the goat, and Wrangler and Bolt, the mini horses were my son's favorites), exceptional wine, and changing tables (with wipes) in the restrooms. Hoopes is hands down the absolute best place to visit in Napa. Lyvia is an extraordinary host and Lindsay and her team thought through every detail to ensure guests have a special experience. My in-laws, husband, 20 month old son, and I could have stayed there all day .... there's truly something for all age groups. And the wine! “Thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Gustavo Wines Tasting room. Daniela greeted us. She was friendly and knowledgeable and it was apparent that she has thoroughly enjoyed learning about wines. Sat down for a private tasting with Gustavo. He's a very nice, humble man. He's extremely knowledgeable about wine and it is clearly his passion. It was interesting hearing about his personal background as well as the history of the area and the different varieties of grapes. He 'designs' his wines in advance- in essence, knowing which varieties he wants in it to concoct different aromas and flavors. He was super interesting to listen to. He mentioned his desire to come out with a reserve wine. We'd love to see that & will keep our eye out for it. A well worth trip! Left with several bottles of our favorite.“

“This was by far our most memorable experience in Napa Valley. It felt like we were a guest in Sid’s home for the afternoon. He set up a beautiful table for us to enjoy our tasting as well as an array of snacks including cheese, olives, dried fruit etc. After our tasting we continued with a tour through his property on a 4wd kubota that ended with us finishing our bottle of wine at the top of his property with wide ranging views out to Pleasure Cove of Lake Berryessa. Everything done on this property is done by hand and the love, care and respect for the land is evident. We had the 2018 Cabernet while we were there and enjoyed it thoroughly. He lost a lot in the fires including fruit trees, non Cabernet vines, and many animals. This place is a must visit while you are in Napa.“

“My friends and I had such a lovely experience here! The wine tasting area is tucked away amongst the barrels and decorated lovingly with pictures of the Herrera family. Andrea and Ronaldo Jr are so hospitable and fun, and really made us wine newbies feel comfortable! We learned so much about the wine making process and the family and can tell how detail oriented they are throughout all of their business, which sets them apart amongst the hundreds in Napa. You just won’t receive this level of service in many places nowadays! We were able to taste wine right out of one of their barrels and compare to the wines they had poured for us. I thoroughly enjoyed their Pinot noir and the price point is fair given they are a small business and focus on quality. They also sell candles, which are also named after family members, in their empty bottles of wine exclusively on site. They smell so amazing, my friend bought 4! Thank you all for curating such a wonderful experience for us!“
