Latin American Restaurants near Novato

“My husband and I were traveling through Novato and found this little restaurant on Yelp. We came in through their store and the gentleman behind the counter told us to go to the back of the store and turn right. The restaurant has a small eating area with a tv but clean. Didn't know what to order because their menu is extensive and they have daily specials to boot! With the help of our waitress we got the pupusas, tacos chapines,and a salad (asked them to make one up). She was so friendly and accommodating! They made us a salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and avocados. Didn't have salad dressing but came with lime wedges so we squeezed that with pepper and it was really tasty! The tacos chapinas were to die for as were the pupusas! The pupusas we had were the bean & cheese, pork, and the cheese and zucchini. The tortillas are hand made and part of the kitchen is exposed to you can see and hear the woman making them. Lots of people were coming in for take out orders and wish I could be around to try all their dishes!! If we come through here we'll definitely stop to eat here again!!“

“We went there on a Saturday afternoon love the decor. When we got there they placed bread pudding with jelly on the table. Amazing. We decided to order chicken empanadas, pupusa and nachos. Was very good and delicious. I will be back to try entrees even though they serve Americans cuisine, I can get that anywhere so I choose to order their Latin stuff. I can't wait to go back.“

“San Rafael Location…My husband and I were in SF on business. We travel often on business and whenever possible we look to try a local Puerto Rican restaurant, especially because we only have one back home and it’s ok.I’m from Puerto Rico, ?? I L❤️VE Puerto Rican food! The food at Sol Food was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and made to order. Don’t recommend the mofongo, however, everything else was REALLY good! It was our first t experience with shared, “community seating” and it was very nice, great vibe, music and very friendly staff! We did have to stand in line for a few minutes but Sofie came out to greet us, handed us menus and went over the menu with us. Super friendly and professional! My husband ordered half chicken combo and I ordered the steak combo which both included rice & beans, tostones and a nice salad! We added a side of avocado, plus I ordered their chicken soup and also, cafe con leche! Everything was delicious!!! They have a unique menu they don’t serve empanadas, pastelillos or any of the typical fried appetizers.They also have a take out only side next door with a small market. Very smart business model.1 hour drive from San Francisco to San Rafael was definitely worth it! We will definitely be back! “We've been to Ayawaska several times and it has been a bit inconsistent.... however the food was always compelling enough to return.This visit was the best ever.The service, cocktails (a new, wider selection) and food all hit high notes.Every dish was balanced and well present, but above all it was delicious.I suspect maybe a new GM or new focus on operations!“

“I don't normally leave reviews on yelp but we had such a great experience I could not not leave a review. We came in 2 min before closing and the owner Bill graciously welcomed us in. We had the white bean soup, beet salad and sliders and sangria. The food was amazing! As we were leaving we had a great chat with Bill and he told us about his 15 year history of owning the restaurant. I moved to San Rafael 4 years ago and this was honestly my best culinary experience. We will be back!“

“Everything it’s great about this restaurant. The food it’s amazing. Portions are big. Totally recommend. Fast. Friendly. Sometimes you have to wait for a table, because it’s so crowded. But it’s worth it. I complain about the coffee every restaurant I go. Even fancy one. But their coffee it’s super good ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️“

“Taco Jane's is a quaint restaurant with an energetic and friendly waitstaff, and food that is well worth the mid-range Marin County prices. Beers on tap, indoor and outdoor seating, and the occasional bard with guitar and amp posted near the entrance give this place a fun and relaxing feel. They have many vegan friendly options. I recommend the jackfruit tacos when they are on special.“
