“We stopped here by happenstance and I am so glad we did! It was a quiet and friendly little location that was very clean and well kept. Nice music playing and fast service. The server was very attentive and kept our drinks full and make sure we had what we needed. The food is so good. I got the fried rice with chicken and veggies and it was very flavorful. My husband got the hunan chicken and it was moderately spicy and he said it was very tasty. Would absolutely get again and go again. If you can’t make it in just order the takeout. You won’t be disappointed. We also got edamame and fried dumplings and they were the best fried dumplings cooked perfectly crispy. The portions are considerable so we have food for at home later as well. Ample parking in this shopping center. “More people really need to frequent this restaraunt. I always have the large noodle dish but I switch udon for ramen noodles. The portions are so large that I order more of their amazing Shoyu broth to go and have it with my leftover noodles the next day! Amazing!“

“I went here with my husband. You choose from hundreds of ingredients and it's weighed at the end. It's pretty savory. You can choose how spicy the broth is. I got mine with a lot of napa cabbage. The beef was good quality. I really liked this pork roll thing I put in mine. The whole thing was like 16$. Great deal this economy. Service was good. Ambiance was nice. A lot of ppl eating by themselves when I went for dinner.“

“Its rare that I give 5 stars as I believe in honesty and I do have high standards (at least for myself). This place deserves it. It is not inexpensive, but it is very much worth it. Portions are very large, food is authentic (i would say 90% there as I lived and worked in Malaysia and Sg for many years) and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is also really nice (it is small though). We had the following: Dry Wonton Noodle, Nasi Lemak (chicken), Curry Yong Tau Foo, and Kaya Toast. It was all fantastic and the noodles were my favorite. Kudos to the chef and the staff.“

“Me & my husband decided to give them a try for lunch today and we’re SOO glad we did! We were seated quickly and our food came out fast, hot & fresh! We had the crab Rangoons which were really good, I had the orange chicken which was phenomenal! The chicken was lightly bread & crispy with lots of flavor. My husband had the braised beef noodle soup & said it was delicious. The servings were large as well which we loved and there is a lot to choose from on their menu. Definitely the best Chinese cuisine we’ve ever had, we can’t wait to go back again.“

“Food is delicious. I’ve been to A LOT of Chinese restaurants in the area and this is the best one.Most Chinese restaurants in the area are very mediocre in taste and quality in food. Grand Wok is definitely not one of those places. I placed a pickup order for combo lo mein, egg drop soup, and spring rolls.When I got to the restaurant to pickup my order, it was brought to my attention that combo fried rice was prepared instead of lo mein since that is what was heard over the phone. To me, that is not a huge problem and I told them not to worry about it and I can take it as is, however, the cashier (owner?) was very sorry for the mistake and asked me to wait 5 mins while they prepared the combo lo mein for me to take along with the combo fried rice that was accidentally made. Wonderful customer service.The customer service, taste, and low price is well worth coming here over the competition. “I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this weekly standby! I’ve had several of their dishes and have enjoyed them all. I especially love the chili-garlic green beans appetizer, the veggie spring rolls, and kung pao shrimp. Extra heat please, which they’re always glad to provide. We prefer to dine at the bar and always receive excellent service from JP and the other bartenders as well. Speaking of the bar, they’ve got a great HH, both food and drink specials.“

“First time here. Decided to try because they had hand pulled noodles and was not too far from Arlington where we needed to go later.Glad we went to this Chinese restaurant. Just ordered the Mongolian beef and hand pulled noodles with chicken. The Mongolian beef was tender and flavorful. Just a the right amount of sauce and not too salty. The hand pulled noodles were the gem though. Perfectly cooked and chewy with the right amount of flavor. The chicken was white meat and texture was delicious. Apparently there was a sign at the door that read they had Peking duck daily until they are out, which I will have to try next time. I wished this place was closer to where I live in Plano/Frisco, but definitely worth another trip to Southlake.“

“Went to Empress of China last night. Great because my wife likes Chinese dishes and I prefer Japanese or Thai. They offer all three.Sandi had an egg roll and Kung Pao chicken. All were hot, fresh and delicious. Chicken pieces were good size and veggies were bright and crisp.I had a Rainbow Roll, a few pieces of Sashimi and Padd See Ew with Shrimp. The Thai flat noodles were great. Dish was sauced well but not too much and delicious. Sushi roll and Sashimi were all fresh and prepared well. Service was great. Nothing special about the ambience but restaurant was clean and well lit. We will be back.“

If you are having it for the first time, I wouldn't recommend any cilantro leaves into the mix and ask for the yellow pickled radish if they forgot to serve it. Spicy level 1 might be a good choice for the beginners.“

And it's always that hesitation because you dont want to get swindled by the restaurant. Lack of portion, soupy when it shouldn't be, roach in the food, nasty nasty stuff. I'm telling you, do not hesitate to go ahead and order from Open Rice Asian Bistro. They don't serve Peking duck here, or Ants on a Tree, so dont expect authenticity. BUT as far as Chinese American takeout, this place is better than most. The food was fresh and done before the ETA. We got the "Family Dinner" Deal which we chose Generel Tso chicken, Mongolian beef, 2 soups (their hot and sour soup is definitely a must try) we got that and egg drop soup, 2 egg roll. In addition, I got an order of crab rangoon, 2 more eggrolls, steam chicken dumplings. All for $47 with tip?? Yall.. for 3 people, the portions looked small initially, but they PACK IT! Chicken.. Juicy, egg rolls.. flavorful and with texture, sauces.. thicc but not too laden. Portions.. packed. Yall.. We ate like KINGS. Everything was FIRE! If you got to this part, you're wasting your time. “I visited this Panda last week Saturday and Sunday.(9/8&9/9) This lady,I first interacted with was magnificent and greeted me .I didn't get her name, but she was short, polynesian/ Asian. She was serving the rice and noodles. The line was long and she perfected her job. She directed 2 separate lines; one line for customers waiting to pay ,and the other line for ordering. She had a system. My flight was delayed and came back on Sunday. This time she was working harder. The line was longer than Saturday. I sat at the bar watching this woman work. I felt bad for her because she did not receive help from her co-workers. I am a restaurant owner ,and I would like to compliment her hard work. I heard several customers complimenting her such as " You're a super woman" , "You're doing it all" , "Wow, you're fast", " Are you by yourself?", " They should be helping you"... This lady continued serving. I hope she gets recognized , she is good. It is hard to find good workers nowadays. Thank you Lady for serving me,and may God bless you.“

“Kung Pao chicken is my go-to here. Most other places simply don’t match up. Portions are large, flavor is excellent. Food always comes out hot and fresh. The amount of chicken is fine, but too many carrots and celery keep me from giving 5 stars.“

“This is our neighborhood go to for take out. We ordered four entrees plus fried rice today for lunch using their online ordering system. When we got home one of our entrees was missing. I called them to let them know their mistake immediately. The man answering the phone was very nice about it and said he would make it. Moral of my story is to ALWAYS check your food before leaving with it. It was pouring rain today and this was very inconvenient having to get out in the rain twice while our other three entrees got cold. Other than that, the food is very good.“

When inside the building, you can tell it needs an update. I would also like to note that the staff here aren't always friendly. The atmosphere itself isn't always welcoming. However, I haven't had many problems here. You'll occasionally get that one lady on the front counter who seems to be having a bad day (EVERYDAY), but that's okay! “This looks like an old school place. I have no idea how long this restaurant has been around but judging from some of the comments, there's recently been some changes. I can say that I do love me some self-serve style restaurants. I kinda wish more restaurants were like this. It's just easier to get in an out without worrying about waiting around to pay the bill. I ordered half black bean noodles and half seafood noodles for $14. Overall, it's a great deal and a great way to take care of some cravings. I will indeed have to get their tangsooyuk next time, but their jjajjangmyun was pretty legit. Maybe not AS good as Mr. Paik nearby, but really good. Plus, sometimes I'm not in the mood to eat an entire of tangsooyuk by myself so the combo plates are perfect for me.“

“Z's Wok came through for me on Christmas Eve. Ordered through Grub Hub and the packaging was top notch , keeping everything hot upon arrival. Portions are huge, generous to the max. The boneless bbq ribs? Oh those are going on my reorder list for sure. The spicy crispy chicken wasn't really spicy but it had great flavor. The combo fried rice was overall good. I did find the shrimp slightly underdone. But here's the kicker... the portions are so huge that I had leftovers not once but twice ! I made some leftover magic by chopping up the extra bbq ribs and tossed them into the fried rice alongside the crispy chicken and it was a whole new level of yummy. The flavors melded overnight making it better the next day. Even if the chicken wasn't crispy next day. Consider me a new repeat customer.“
