“Best Vermont has to offer. Owner is as amazing as the sugar cookies.“
“Seriously, these are the BEST cookies I have had in my 51 years of life! Thank you!“
“These are some of the best bagels outside of NYC. They are made fresh everyday. People who are calling them "stale" or "not very fresh" are probably used to eating the typical, inauthentic wonder bread bagels you find all over the US. These are the real deal, made authentically. Highly recommended (if you appreciate good bagels). Amazing to find this gem in northern Vermont“
“My sourdough bread baking journey was enhanced when I purchased Sarah Owens first book, "Sourdough". Since getting her book (and subsequent ones) I decided that I wanted to take a workshop at some point. When I found out she was going to be in VT (where my husband has relatives), we decided it was going to be our summer adventure. Brot Bakehouse is located in the picturesque hills of northern VT. The gardens were in full glory and created a relaxing and beautiful setting. The atmosphere of the school is welcoming with Heike and her husband greeting us as we arrived with yummy snacks, drinks, and coffees. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything a bread-baker could ever want. We had a large group and worked in pairs (10 in total). The first day of Sarah's Wholegrain Baking workshop was busy from morning until late afternoon...we accomplished a lot of bread making on that first day! Lunch was provided and welcomed after all our hard work. The next day was more leisurely as we baked off most of our creations from the day before. Again snacks, lunch, and discussions were in abundance. Sarah is so knowledgeable about the craft of using whole grains and low-gluten grains in baking. We were sent home with generous loaves of our breads and our heads filled with newfound information to take into our sourdough journey. I highly recommend Brot Bakehouse and School for anyone interested in expanding their baking repertoire.“
“Unlike any other place you may encounter. The decor is from decades past, so visiting is like stepping back in time, and the staff/owners will poke at you if you wish to partake in banter. Nothing is commercially engineered for selling and profits. Everything is homemade and fit for the locals and visitors who seek and appreciate authentic Vermont experiences. Expect real Vermont maple syrup, and tip well, because this business seems to exist just for the heck of it, but they deserve more. "Wicked good," "Holy Cow," and "Jeezum Crow" live here.“

“Red house sweets has not only the best pastries in town, they also have some of the very kindest employees. I’m not sure why the question “can I warm this up for you?” feels like a luxurious offer, but it really really does! A quiet corner to enjoy my warm pastry, delivered to me with a smile makes this busy working mom incredibly grateful this special business is thriving in my town!“
