Stewart's Bakery Bakery •

“Sometimes bread can be finicky- holes in the middle- which doesn’t make for a great grilled cheese. I let Stewart’s know and they were quick to respond. Jacob personally delivered two fresh loaves (and a biscotti treat) to my home. Love their sourdough and their customer service!“

“I’m in town briefly while my dog is having surgery at a specialty center. I wanted to grab a quick breakfast before picking him up to go home. I mistakenly stopped at a different cafe down the road, was greeted by staff not wearing masks and arguing with each other. I paid for my food because I was caught off guard and didn’t eat it. Found Williston Coffee Shop and immediately felt like I was in the right place. Staff was friendly and polite, wearing masks and keeping customers safe. Food was so amazing and fresh, and coffee was awesome! I’m so glad the first place didn’t work out, because my tomato basil egg sandwich was incredible. I know it’s hard right now, but you guys are doing a great job keeping everyone safe with your extra protocols, and it shows. If I come back to town I will come back, and anyone that visits the veterinary practice will get a referral to your coffee shop from me!“

This coffee shop has a nice vibe, good bakery items and a short lunch / breakfast menu for a sit in or on the go item.I think the lunch menu this past week had a turkey sandwich, soup and huge focaccia pizza slices.A delicious maple vanilla was spilt and their iced mocha was even made with cocoa nibs. ?“

“I have placed many orders with Elizabeth and each time I have been so pleased with the macarons or meringues that I had chosen. The macarons are truly works of art: they are gorgeous and taste even better than they look. Each bite is a delight! I love bringing these treats to friends who, in turn, are surprised by the artistry and thrilled with the tastes. And just when I think that there couldn't be any more flavor combinations, Elizabeth creates another one. I'm looking forward to what she will have for summer tastes. They are sure to be delicious!“

“I come to this place probably once a week for a bagel before work and I just had to write a quick review. Whoever is DJ, there's always an amazing playlist. Not only is this my favorite bagel restaurant in Vermont but the music makes me feel like I'm inside of some bagel club and I'm in love with it. Today was a Laryn Hill playlist. Never change. “I had an apple muffin the other day that I LOVED. tbh I think it should be called a cupcake since it was an apple spice cake experience in small form but it was really delicious. I love that they have flavored vegan cream cheese. I'm not the biggest fan of their bagels--they're kind of bready, not very traditional bagel-ish. I also want to warn that the past 2 times I've ordered bulk bagels, I've received a cheese bagel in the pack. They used to have something on the website that said they only put vegan bagels in bulk orders, maybe they deleted that? But FYI!“

Belleville Bakery Bakery •
217 College St, Burlington - 5.94 miles

“Alert: there will be a healthy dash of food snobbery in this review :)While the bakery is perfectly better-than-decent (and the location and inside atmosphere great), I was left with the feeling that it could have done much to up their game. Possibly this is mainly considering that it is considered a French styled bakery and one's expectations might be unrealistically inflated. While the offerings (sandwiches, quiches, pastries, cookies, breads, etc) are perfectly fine, they seem very much entrenched in American bakery mode more than French-style. By that I mean that the cookies are thick and heavy and chewey, more for college boys and lumberjacks than anything flaky, light and delicate that would grace any 'rue' in Frnace :)The sandwhich bread similarly feels thick and doughy like more typical American fare than anything thinner and something that won't be visible around the midriff the next day. And the sandwiches are fine but for their price and size feel like even just one added creative ingredient would elevate them from the everyday/everywhere category to something with some more style and uniqueness and semblence of pseudo-French (red wine jelly, dijon mustard, lavender mustard, truffle aioli, red onion jelly, a French cheese...).Belleville leaves the impression of aiming to cater to everyone without alienating anyone by seeming too fancy (like Chef's Corner might to some, but even there it's not exactly French-style). And in doing so relegates itself in some middlezone that's fine but leaving a feeling of, oh it could be so much more! That said, no single review should ever be assumed to encompass the entirety of a place, and their menu changes constantly, so on any given day the experience might differ.“
