“We'll start with the food... I had the 2 catfish fillets with fries and Mac and cheese and added 3 whole, lemon pepper wings. The catfish was fried great and the batter was on point. Not a ton of seasoning but I dipped it in their comeback sauce and it was a good compliment. The chicken was my favorite! The skin was super crispy and it was seasoned well! The Mac and cheese tasted homemade, it gets an 8/10 and there was nothing special about the fries. My wife had the tenders which had a sweet taste to them and they were phenomenal. They would pair well with the waffles which were also good and prepared perfectly, very light and fluffy. The establishment isn't bad. A little tight so not idea for big crowds. They were out of drink selections and we were never updated about our order. I did realize they make everything fresh but just kindly letting us know they are still working on it would have been nice. It was 7 of us and my total came to $127, but the portions were good so I'm ok with the price. I would give a 5 if the fries were seasoned, Mac and cheese had a bit more seasoning, fish was seasoned a bit more and the establishment was a bit more inviting. Maybe offering some "out-of-the- box" selections since everything is made to order. We'll definitely go back if we visit Birmingham! ??“
“I live about an hour away from the Birmingham Alabama location and I could drive there every single day and get some food as it is some of the best food I've ever eaten! I don't know if anyone will read this but my only piece of advice would be to put one in Jacksonville Alabama near JSU. I think business would boom!!“
“We eat at Guthrie's any chance we get! Had an appt in B'ham so took advantage and ate at the Guthrie's on Hwy 280. It's always good - but it was perfect this day. Nothing could have made it any better. The chicken was tender and juicy on the inside with a perfect thin crispy coating on the outside! Same for the fries - and seasoned perfectly! The toasted bread as well - not too brown, but a little 'crunch' to the bite! The slaw was delicious as always. The entire meal was excellent. Please pass this on to your 'crew.' Oh, I had eaten at a burger chain a few days earlier and spent just about the same and there was NO COMPARISON! This place does NOT even have a warmer. Your food is always going to be FRESH and reasonably priced!“
“This Zaxby's location was a unique experience! It is one of the new business models where there is not an indoor seating area. In other words, it is drive-thru or take-out only. Despite this, there were indoor bathrooms and you were able to order inside. Everything inside felt very new and very clean. Also, outside, they had four tables available for outdoor seating. Regarding service, I was quickly greeted and had my order taken ASAP. I then had my food in hand within just a few minutes (much faster than the usual Zaxby's wait time). Lastly, the food was hot, fresh, and on the higher end of Zaxby's quality. Overall, this is a great place for a quick bite to eat (as long as you don't plan on eating in)!“
“My favorite chicken tender place other than Jay Alexander's. I think they take the nasty tendon out of the chicken tender because I never taste it. Their chicken is delicious with a nice crust and cooked all the way through. I also love their coleslaw. “I booked a reservation on OpenTable the day of our visit and checked that it was our anniversary. We were greeted by the hostess with a happy anniversary, and when we left with another happy anniversary. When she showed us to our table, there was a handwritten card wishing us happy anniversary, and heart-shaped confetti across the table. Granted, this was a Monday at 4:00 pm so the crowd was slim. Alain (from France!) was the most attentive server. The ribeye was cooked perfectly to medium, the wedge salad was probably the best I've ever had ( the balsamic drizzle did it), Fleming's potatoes (AKA au gratin) were rich and delicious, and the sautéed mushrooms with whole garlic cloves were a great finishing touch. Alain brought us boxed truffles to take home. What a great meal and experience!“
