“This was our first time and it was absolutely excellent from start to finish! The manager, Brandon, was SO genuinely welcoming and accommodating. Our server, Parker, was flawless and so much fun (request him!). Every dish was perfectly cooked, refined and full of flavor (smoked salmon, fried green tomatoes, fried oysters, rainbow trout, swordfish with andouille, ribeye with truffle fondue). The cocktails and wine all perfect. Will definitely return and want to thank Blueprint for a truly wonderful experience!”

“Take your tastebuds on a magical journey that will delight and thrill. This is as authentic as it gets for Greek cuisine in Alabama. There is most definitely truth in advertising as everything was indeed tasty. Since I couldn’t decide on what to order I instinctively went for a whole assortment of different flavor profiles. The baked chicken is the tell , if you go to a Greek restaurant and they don’t have a good baked chicken… walk out. This should be a staple on every single Greek menu. Seemingly innocuous but it is the cannery in the coal mine so to speak for what you can expect for the rest of the meal. It outperformed even my high expectations. Served with a grilled lemon to squeeze over the top it was perfectly salted and not over or under cooked. Our sides were the Greek fries (which were crispy in all the right ways, and a punch of saltiness from the cheese) I asked for some taziki sauce for the chicken but dipped my fries on it as well. Honestly I didn’t even dip the chicken in it because it tasted so good on its own I didn’t have to. I also feasted upon the spinach rice and tabouleh and both were opposites on the flavor spectrum one with warm savory spices that melted with the tomatoes and rice and the other bursting with fresh herbs and spring vegetables with Frekkah which is a roasted green wheat that adds such a wonderful texture and pleasant yet slightly nutty flavor. The orzo “Mac and cheese” is no ordinary Mac and cheese side, this Greek version of a classic dish had such an amazing mouth feel with some garlic and herb notes that just elevated it to the next level. And I’m going to end where we started which was with the appetizers. I can never get past the spanakopita (which is heavy on the dill just like I like it) But today I added in the garden humus which had fresh limas and asparagus with an array of herbs with a drizzle of olive oil… and that is just the topping, underneath laid a silky smooth hummus that was not grainy or bitter . The fresh pita sent me over the moon… I was in greek heaven. The chicken pita was like having all the freshness of the salads and the spot on roasted chicken all in one…. So you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I have yet to try something I absolutely didn’t love . We were so stuffed that we had to get the desserts to go but my god … if you haven’t been here you are missing out on one of the best restaurants Birmingham has to offer. It’s a hidden gem in plain sight.”

While the bar seating was full, they were kind enough to accommodate me on the heated patio. The food was excellent, so much so that I had to splurge on the Genepy sundae. I will have to come back whenever I am in Birmingham again.”

“The staff is friendly. I had the oatmeal cream pie! When they post it on the "Gram" the night before, you better line up as early as 6:30 a.m. However, in all fairness, they only let you get just one (that is new). I would like for them to declare an Oatmeal Cream Pie Day. I would even come in to assist. I guarantee they would be busy all day. This place is a cute little gem and I'm glad I found it.”

“We had a great experience with our impromptu work dinner with our party of 15. Our server Thomas P. was very accommodating and worked to help our large group have a wonderful time. The flavors of the food were bold and paired well with the amazing drink menu. We loved the daiquiris and the Will You Be My Hurricane drinks were our favorites. But please don’t miss the Guri Guri - so yummy! Located right in the heart of downtown in a walkable area from neighboring hotels. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Waffle had flavor by itself and the fresh warm peaches with house made butter complimented each other very well.”

My son had Barbaccoa quesadilla, it was great too! Little one had a bacon quesadilla he ate ALL of it shocking for put 9 yo! Seriously though, go! You won’t regret it!!”

The whole fish was fried good, but no seasoning at all, the sides that come with it is a -0 for me. WHY, serve this beautiful whole fish with a huge wedge of RAW cabbage, plain big wedges of tomatoes, plain thick slices of cucumbers, cooked white plain rice, and a tomatoe chutney which was very tasty. The sides served with this $27 dish is not a compliment to the entrée at all. The dumplings saved the day!!”

Fresh, crunchy and seasoned just right--LOVE IT!! The Shrimp and grits is really good. I went all out and got warm chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream drizzle with chocolate fudge syrup-- spectacular!! Definitely wouldn't mind coming back again!”

Not only was the bread crispy and the (seemingly) infused olive oil to dip with perfectly seasoned, but my ravioli sauce... I tried to pinpoint the flavor profile and never could. It was so amazing, but I couldn't put my finger on what made it that way. Hats off to Chef Andrew. He and Scott, our waiter, made that meal a perfect way to celebrate my parents' anniversary. There are McDonald’s locations close by that charge $2.19, but it’s $2.99 here. This is a 36% markup! Most items are slightly marked up at this location, which I understand due to it being downtown by UAB. But the hash brown price is marked up a far larger percentage than anything else for no apparent reason.”

“Here solo with 2 dogs from IL. Google reviews said dog friendly. SO GLAD and much appreciated you are a TRUE dog friendly location. (Dogs allowed inside/outside including water bowls and public restrooms that a solo person can bring their pet with them). Im not much of a beer drinker and they did have options of cocktails. The cute guy at the counter was polite and made suggestions. I decided to try the Strawberry Blonde. I saw several other people with their dogs. I was able to have a couple beers, eat a burger (from food truck outside), chill indoors with my dogs and use the restroom. A huge outdoor and indoor sitting area with a variety of seating types. I would give this location 10 stars if I could.”

“This is our go-to Thai restaurant. The food is always excellent. Prices aren't cheap but fair and affordable. You have to keep up with them on Facebook because they will randomly close for a month or more, plus weeks here and there. And the phone is always busy- sometimes I have to redial fifty times before I get through. If the call goes straight through and no one answers, it means they are closed. And the wait for food is always long because they are so busy. Sometimes they run out of food. They only make the yellow curry soup on special occasions and it goes fast. But all of this is due to the food being good and fresh, the staff being wonderful, the restaurant being clean... and people just love it. No one cares about any of these obstacles. Even me. We just know the deal and plan for it! Eat early if you want to mostly avoid any of these obstacles. The owners have a work/life balance and make a quality product. I hope nothing ever changes!”

Not only was the bread crispy and the (seemingly) infused olive oil to dip with perfectly seasoned, but my ravioli sauce... I tried to pinpoint the flavor profile and never could. It was so amazing, but I couldn't put my finger on what made it that way. Hats off to Chef Andrew. He and Scott, our waiter, made that meal a perfect way to celebrate my parents' anniversary. As for the experience, it was top-notch. The staff were absolute champs, handling our rowdy group with ease and adding to the overall fun factor of the evening. Ambience-wise, think normal lighting with a light-colored interior, but the real star was the impressive ofrenda that added a touch of authenticity to the space. Now, onto the ending thoughts. “First of all, this is a really cool place. I really love the vibe. Lots of cool merch, and then really good food too. The food was great, everyone was working hard to get you your food, and the atmosphere is really good too. Friendly. It is loud, but not in a bad way. The area is actually really nice and there's a nice parking lot right across from the restaurant. Downside: they are kinda slow. This looks like it should be fast food, but it's not. I came right after they opened, and there was maybe 5-6 people in front of me, and it took a good 20 minutes for them to take my order. About 10 to get the order. I don't know if that was bc they just opened up maybe? Wasn't a big deal. Other thing is: this isn't cheap. Most of the burgers and sandwiches are $15 or more. (There's a couple of items that are cheaper, but they aren't what I went for - I went for their burger). Comes with fries, but does not come with a drink. Drinks are all $4.99 and up. So, for a burger, fries, and some sort of fancy lemonade, it was right at $26. Pretty high. I really liked it though. I'll probably go again, and just get the sandwich and fries - because you can't find vegan stuff almost anywhere in Bham, and this is good stuff as long as you're not broke or in a big hurry.”

They specialize in fresh seafood & sushi. We started with the Kimchi Brussels served flash-fried with bacon & cilantro aioli. I'm such a fan girl for good Brussels & these were PHENOMENAL! Brussels sprouts have that earthy, almost nutty flavor which paired incredibly well with the tangy umami of the kimchi. They were perfectly crisp on the outside while nice & tender inside. The bacon also played a huge part in this dish. These were no bacon bits, rather generous strips of real bacon. It has been a few years since we last dined at Chuck's Fish. The last time we dined here, we tried dishes from their dinner menu as well as their sushi menu & decided sushi is definitely the move here for us. Last night, we ordered Salmon Nigiri, the Meatloaf Roll featuring yellowtail, green onion, spicy sauce & tempura topped with avocado & tuna tartare as well as the Red Dragon Roll featuring soft shell crab, smelt roe, green onion & spicy sauce topped with tuna & avocado. The Salmon Nigiri was super fresh & had the perfect rice to fish ratio. We both thoroughly enjoyed the Meatloaf Roll & the Red Dragon Roll, but the Red Dragon Roll had the slight edge, for me. The combination of sweet soft shell crab, the pop of the smelt roe, firmness of the tuna & creaminess of the avocado was delightful. I really dig the atmosphere at Chuck's Fish. It's upscale & modern, but not pretentious. Service was friendly. They have a nice selection of spirits, wine, beer & specialty cocktails. I was pleased with my Pomegranate Martini as was my wife with her Maple Pecan Old Fashioned. They also offer Happy Hour daily featuring 1/2 off select drinks at the bar from 5-6pm. We stepped aside - my husband searched for our confirmation email and I called other restaurants to see where we could eat. The chicken was juicy and savory. The two paired well with each other, and the crispy, freshly baked crust made for an unforgettable pizza. The service was fast and friendly. As far as I could tell, there weren't any COVID-19 precautions, but the establishment was clean and the menu options were affordable. The ambiance was a reflection of the uniqueness and character of Avondale. If you're from out of town and like pizza, I recommend stopping by.”

I saw the truck was in the area and decided to stop by for lunch.I've tried the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken Sandwhich before and it was good BUT it was something different about this one. It was fried to "perfection" and the seasonings were on point. I enjoyed every bite!!! Now, I am never thrilled about the consistency of the potato salad but once I get over the fact there are no chunks of potatoes, I really like the flavor. Check them out either at the truck or several of their brick-and-mortar locations.”

“Take your tastebuds on a magical journey that will delight and thrill. This is as authentic as it gets for Greek cuisine in Alabama. There is most definitely truth in advertising as everything was indeed tasty. Since I couldn’t decide on what to order I instinctively went for a whole assortment of different flavor profiles. The baked chicken is the tell , if you go to a Greek restaurant and they don’t have a good baked chicken… walk out. This should be a staple on every single Greek menu. Seemingly innocuous but it is the cannery in the coal mine so to speak for what you can expect for the rest of the meal. It outperformed even my high expectations. Served with a grilled lemon to squeeze over the top it was perfectly salted and not over or under cooked. Our sides were the Greek fries (which were crispy in all the right ways, and a punch of saltiness from the cheese) I asked for some taziki sauce for the chicken but dipped my fries on it as well. Honestly I didn’t even dip the chicken in it because it tasted so good on its own I didn’t have to. I also feasted upon the spinach rice and tabouleh and both were opposites on the flavor spectrum one with warm savory spices that melted with the tomatoes and rice and the other bursting with fresh herbs and spring vegetables with Frekkah which is a roasted green wheat that adds such a wonderful texture and pleasant yet slightly nutty flavor. The orzo “Mac and cheese” is no ordinary Mac and cheese side, this Greek version of a classic dish had such an amazing mouth feel with some garlic and herb notes that just elevated it to the next level. And I’m going to end where we started which was with the appetizers. I can never get past the spanakopita (which is heavy on the dill just like I like it) But today I added in the garden humus which had fresh limas and asparagus with an array of herbs with a drizzle of olive oil… and that is just the topping, underneath laid a silky smooth hummus that was not grainy or bitter . The fresh pita sent me over the moon… I was in greek heaven. The chicken pita was like having all the freshness of the salads and the spot on roasted chicken all in one…. So you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I have yet to try something I absolutely didn’t love . We were so stuffed that we had to get the desserts to go but my god … if you haven’t been here you are missing out on one of the best restaurants Birmingham has to offer. It’s a hidden gem in plain sight.”

“Was recommended I should check out this place called The Fennec so well I did. I have never heard of or seen this place until I was told about it and now I'm like why didn't I know about it sooner?! The atmosphere itself was awesome with a nice bar, live music, nice looking stage and dance floor and yes a disco ball! Great place to hang out and eat good food. The staff was top notch our waiter was so great. We had to wait almost an hour for our food only because the kitchen was backed up with a huge parties order. We didn't complain once we totally understood. But this waiter was on his A game! Even though we waited nearly an hour for food we were not disappointed the food came out hot and fresh everyone at their table loved the food they got but you know me I order neutral unless I'm recommended something in particular. The burger I got was legit cooked perfectly I ordered it medium well and that's what I got a hot juicy burger. However there was literally no seasoning on it salt and pepper would have took this thing sky high. Wasn't a huge fan of the kaiser roll but that's just me being picky at that point I personally just wouldn't use that but it was toasted perfectly so no complaints. I will say I ordered bacon on the burger and only recieved one strip of bacon on it and I found that to be very odd. HOWEVER the burger gets a solid 7.9 out of 10 from me. Having some salt and pepper would have had it in very high 8's The fries were fries crispy salty good to go no complaints. The wings I personally think $15 for 6 wings is a bit much but they do give you 6 jumbo sized wings with fries and ranch. I ordered the hot honey wings. These wings were so hot when they came out and had a nice spicy and sweetness I just loved. But once again they clearly weren't seasoned. Some seasoning salt would have set these bad boys off! Wings get an 8 out of 10 from me. Had they been seasoned definitely a 10. We also got the Churros for dessert these things were so good it came with 4 churros covered in cinnamon sugar, chocolate drizzle, strawberry, and chocolate ice cream, oh and on the inside of the churro it was filled with caramel. All that and it still wasn't overly sweet. Definitely 10 out of 10! I highly recommend you go check this place out its well worth it. The portions a appropriate and you are getting what you pay for including live entertainment. I'm coming back to this place and I'm bringing more people with me. The staff was extremely nice and patient, answering our questions and making small talk. They're extremely sustainable by using reusable silverware and dishes. However, the tables are close to each other, which adds to the homey/familiar vibe, but it doesn't help with preventing COVID-19. Though, they do offer take-out as a counter! The area is really small with limited parking but the experience there left a big impression.”
