“Kenya is amazing! She helped me make a gluten-free cake for my daughter's birthday. Because we have celiac and cannot have cross-contamination and my daughter's friend has a nut allergy, I made the layers (she told me exactly what to do to make it work), and she put it all together and decorated it on a separate surface. She showed me the ingredients of all the icing and food coloring and we were able to safely enjoy the cake. Did I mention the cake was the most beautiful cake I've ever seen??? I told her "unicorn" and figured it would be pretty simple. No way! She made a BEAUTIFUL cake that was jeweled up, decked out, and super tasty! The kids LOVED it! So, I would highly recommend this bakery! And if you have a food allergy, just talk to her about it and see what she can do!“

“Edgar’s Bakery on 2713 18th Street South saved my nieces wedding day. The cake made by someone else unfortunately had no support and started to fall apart. The cake could not be displayed or in pictures. We made a decision to try to locate another cake. We drove to and called several stores and bakeries to no avail. Before giving up my daughter made a call to Edgar’s. She immediately said, mom they were actually nice (the other bakeries we called were rude) then she said mom the lady said they may have something that will work. We made it there and unfortunately there were no all white cakes but there was a lot of strawberry cakes, chocolate, and other flavors. Still nothing that we thought we could add flowers to and make it match her wedding colors. One of the young ladies at the counter went to get the manager and also I believe the Baker/decorator. We told her what happened and showed some of the pictures. It was so close to closing time so I would’ve totally understood if there was nothing that could be done. She asked me to wait so she can make a few phone calls to see if there’s anything that she could do to help or offer any advice. After she made a couple of phone calls and no one answered, she finally said you know, I can help. She asked for a little time and she came from the back with a beautiful a two tier cake. It was perfect. She also noticed on the cake that was ruined that my niece wanted a textured icing so she went the extra super Duper mile and textured the icing on the cake she made for us. We also purchased a chocolate cake for the grooms cake because it was also ruined. The kindness and support that the staff at this bakery provided us in the mist of a complete disaster was beautiful and heart warming. They could’ve easily said not our cake, not our problem plus it’s almost closing time but no, we were offered a solution and comfort. I am back in Dallas,TX now and I can’t stop telling everyone about our wonderful blessed experience. I am so sorry that I cannot remember the name of the wonderful lady that made the cake but she knows who she is and I really hope she shares her wonderfulness with everyone in the Edgar’s Bakery family and in Birmingham, Alabama.FYI, Edgar’s did NOT make the cake that fell. Edgar’s kindly made the perfect cake that replaced it.“
“I needed something last minute for a coworker’s birthday. I was undecided about what to pick because it would be shared with a group of people. I called the store to get some quick clarification and to ask about delivery and had a conversation with a wonderful associate. She was kind, funny, and informative. I was all set and placed my order for “bundlets with birthday hats” for delivery thinking I would be there when the cakes arrived with my own Birthday Card to go with the cakes, but I got delayed! I called last minute the next morning to see if they could add a personalized card to my order and talked to another associate who kindly took the information and made sure it was with the delivery. They were a hit!
