“I needed something last minute for a coworker’s birthday. I was undecided about what to pick because it would be shared with a group of people. I called the store to get some quick clarification and to ask about delivery and had a conversation with a wonderful associate. She was kind, funny, and informative. I was all set and placed my order for “bundlets with birthday hats” for delivery thinking I would be there when the cakes arrived with my own Birthday Card to go with the cakes, but I got delayed! I called last minute the next morning to see if they could add a personalized card to my order and talked to another associate who kindly took the information and made sure it was with the delivery. They were a hit! “Kenya is amazing! She helped me make a gluten-free cake for my daughter's birthday. Because we have celiac and cannot have cross-contamination and my daughter's friend has a nut allergy, I made the layers (she told me exactly what to do to make it work), and she put it all together and decorated it on a separate surface. She showed me the ingredients of all the icing and food coloring and we were able to safely enjoy the cake. Did I mention the cake was the most beautiful cake I've ever seen??? I told her "unicorn" and figured it would be pretty simple. No way! She made a BEAUTIFUL cake that was jeweled up, decked out, and super tasty! The kids LOVED it! So, I would highly recommend this bakery! And if you have a food allergy, just talk to her about it and see what she can do!“
“Me and some colleagues happened upon this great little bakery. We had the apple and cheese danish and a sticky bun. All I can say is that after taking a bite of the apple danish I wanted to go back and get 5 more. The danish was so buttery and the cheese and apple filling complimented the danish perfectly. The owner was very friendly and joked around with us. I will definitely come back.“
“Rickey J's Bakery is sooooo good! Had to get a cake for a birthday party recently and went to Edgar's & got a few cupcakes to sample before making a decision. Let's just say I was underwhelmed. I even considered going to a grocery store, but did some online research for a good local bakery and saw reviews for Rickey J's. The reviewers are spot on. Again, I got cupcakes to sample, and the owner/baker was so nice & helpful. She even gave me a free slice of cake to help me decide. I chose the key lime cake for the party & it was a huge hit... very flavorful, really moist, & great texture all around. The guests wanted to know where I got the cake. Of course I encouraged them to go to Rickey J's. They're my go-to bakery going forward“
“Love this place! It’s like a little trip to Paris. Small but well appointed with big windows, minimalist decor. Awesome wallpaper in bathroom! Decor complete with retro map of Paris. Great coffee/tea and delicious pasteries-flaky, fresh, cute and delish ✅. Staff is friendly and helpful. And free drip Fridays; buy a pastry/get a free drip coffee. As a busy realtor, I live to set up client meetings at places like this to showcase what our lively little city has to offer. This is what makes it fun to live in the ‘ham.“

“Would you believe me if I told you this was my FIRST ever cinnamon roll? Looking back I have no clue how I went so long without one! I ordered the plain cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting and was absolutely delighted! It was soft and sweet but not at all overpowering. I usually am not a sweet's person and definitely wouldn't usually finish a whole pastry, but I was able to devour my roll entirely and didn't feel weighed down or have any kind of sugar rush after! The employees were as sweet as can be, making casual conversation with us after learning about my cinnamon roll-less life. Will most definitely be back to try more flavor combos!“

“I am new to the area and saw this place today. They had slices of pound cake and mini pies. They might have had other items too but I only noticed these, they captured my attention right away. I purchased a mini sweet potato pie, key lime, and a pecan. I also purchased a slice of lemon pound cake. My 12 year old announced she didn’t like pound cake or pie… A couple of hours later I tried the sweet potato pie. The 12 year old asked for a taste and begged to have the rest. Tonight we equally ate the lemon pound cake. Both superb. We haven’t tried the other 2 minis yet, but have no doubt they will be equally delicious. This place had the most delicious sweet potato pie and even better than my own (really good) lemon pound cake. Prices are reasonable and they have fantastic employees.“

“Really cheap baked goods and so many candy and snack options. You don't really need to talk to get your food for the customers who dont speak Spanish but use Googletranslatefor good measure. You can pick out the baked goods you want by yourself with the platter and tongs that are at the front then you pay at the counter in the back.“
“I had to order breakfast for Mountain Brook Junior High Band. I unfortunately waited until the last minute. I went to a couple of other places that made doughnuts and they scoffed when I asked for the order. I then went to Magic Muffins- they were SO accommodating. They placed the order and will have it ready for me early tomorrow morning so I can bring it to the school. It has been so long since any business was this nice and helpful to me! I can't recommend them enough (I also LOVE their banana nut muffins!)“

“Driving through town on a road trip, wanting a tasty breakfast before leaving town. I am so glad I stopped in! Parking was easy in the street out front at 8:30am on this Thursday morning. The rower had several tables inside for dining or work (WiFi was available). Outside seating was available out back as well. The menu online matched the menu on store if you like to plan ahead. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable about the pastries and flavors! Per their recommendation I got an almond croissant and cheese danish with fresh strawberry jam on top. I also ordered a lavender honey latte and a loaf of sourdough to go. The latte paired with the pastries was exactly the treat I needed! It was savory and sweet and just the right amount of food to fill me up and then some. I will be using the sourdough in the next few days and am looking forward to sandwiches and dippy bread!“
