Experience Lake Montezuma's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“I consider myself well traveled, and this is 100% the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! All three of our entrées were bigger than we’ve ever been served, and all three of us agreed the best from coast to coast! The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The owner herself, Gabriela, came out to check that everything was terrific. She went above and beyond to make our experience there a memorable one! If you’re looking for a non-chain, authentic Mexican restaurant, this is a must visit! Thank you so much, Gabriela and staff we enjoyed everything there! We will be back!“
“From what I understand this restaurant has been in continuous family operation for 40 years. I understand why. Whatever you order is authentic. I have traveled to Mexico a number of times and enjoyed the local food. This restaurant in Cottonwood has somehow been able to maintain authentic tastes and recipes throughout time. The food is served on very hot plates. When they say be careful your plate is hot believe them. The chips are warm and fresh. The salsas are served with two choices of hot or more mild. The chili relleno was perfection. It had a very light egg batter. Often, chile rellenos at some restaurants are served with some breading. The tamale was served with generous portions of meat stuffed inside the cornmeal and then a corn husk. Once again, a very authentic tamale with perfect seasoning. It's amazing how a little extra provided with a meal make such a difference in the eyes of the guest. La Fonda serves a warm sopapilla with their meal. It was excellent and I of course had to have a little honey which they were happy to provide. As a side note a server was kind enough to direct my wife to the restroom instead of just pointing to a general location. I think The quality of the restaurant was especially surprising because it is a bit off the beaten path. This alone is a tribute to its long-standing success. Many times if a restaurant isn't convenient or challenging to find they simply cannot succeed. Part of the charm of this restaurant is its isolated location off of a main highway.. To sum it up, there is no secret to why certain restaurants succeed. Their people, their quality of food, their decor, and the desire to make people happy. In the case of La Fonda they succeed on all differentiators.“
“Stopped here while out in AZ. On vacation. Friday night and the place was jumping. Loved the menudo it was legit, the quesadillas were a nice appetizer, washed it down with a few cervezas, and walked out fat n happy! I’ll definitely go back if I’m ever back in camp verde!“
“No complaints! They stayed open longer than another place I was going to go to on a Saturday night and I was pleasantly surprised at the fair prices and great quality! Good restaurant for the entire family! My smallest daughter liked the quesadilla. ❤️“
“Beto's is the best! We are gringo sauce-snobs, and LOVED every bite! Great price, service, speed and grub. Take and bake enchiladas and chili rellenos available. There's a Stuffed sopa or burritos for every one!Parking: Limited spots, more next door and across the street“
“First time in here, great food, drinks, and friendly service, we had the french fries with carne asada, carnitas tacos with a great salsa, and my son enjoyed the tamales. I really liked the jalapeño margarita. Very extensive variety on Tequilas, probably the place with most Tequila brands in the area.“
