“Came here for dinner with some friends on a Friday evening. We got a table right away! This is my second time at this location and it did not disappoint. Still one of the best ramen places I’ve ever been to! The broth is so rich and flavorful and the portion was quite good for the price.Service was excellent as we got our food right away and our server checked up on us often. The environment was clean and well-kept. Would definitely come back here! 10/10!“

“This would be a great place to go alone and be introverted and eat a meal in peace. You won’t be staring at someone across from you and they leave a seat in between parties. Easy to just check off what you want in the menu. The server will ask if you want vegan or pork soup. I came here on my lunch break. Usually I see a line up going out the door so I was glad I didn’t have to wait in line this day. The ramen was good! Pork belly pieces were decent I’ve def seen other places that have a thicker cut to the pork belly but no complains it was enough to satisfy my appetite and not feel overly full! The servers even checked on me and asked if I wanted more noodles when my bowl when I just had soup left.Vegetarian options: They have vegan soup base options“

“I'm from Sydney and found this ramen place from Google maps. Also have lived in a ramen suburb for nearly a year in Japan, so my taste buds are well acquainted with the true ramen.Ordered Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. Soup has the right balance of richness, body to it. Noodles are on the thicker side (as shown in one of the photos). The soup has more of the seaweed flavour as some other reviewers described, so it has a distinct character to it.Chashu uses the right fatty cut so it very soft and tender, not like some places where they use lean cuts.Bamboo shoots are also fresh.Perhaps the egg yolk can be slightly more runnier but I can't ask for anything more. I inhaled the entire bowl of noodes, slurped up all the soup in 15 minutes. This place is definitely worth repeats. If they can do a seemingly plain tonkotsu Shoyu ramen that well, every bowl will satisfy you!Thank you so much for bringing this perfect bowl of ramen.“

“Ramen at its best! So fresh, so simple, so authentic, so cozy, so fun. Worth the wait.Don’t overeat otherwise you’ll have a hard time squeezing out of the booth without having your butt land in the face of the person sitting next to you.“

“Just discovered this place today and it was such an amazing experience. Great food as well, not like the ones I've always had which are sometimes too salty or too bland, this one is just fantastically balanced flavors. Would definitely come back with my friend!“

“A welcome back for my tastebuds after 8 days without asian food.Got the yuzu ratan ramen. 8/10! While the thin noodles is not my preference (i prefer the chewier thicker noodles), the broth was light thanks to the yuzu with a bit of a spice kick. Decent amount of toppings. Good value for money with the combo deal. The mini karage don was pretty good too 9/10. Their homemade ginger ale was quite refreshing 9/10.Service was great.Bar seats not the comfiest but you get a kitchen show.“

“Yet another ramen craving came upon me and decided to check this place out. It's right smack downtown so there is little to no street parking but parkades are scattered everywhere. They are also affiliated with Ramen Butcher over at East Georgia. I've got the 'Basic Ramen ' as per the servers recommendation. I've also opted for the thin noodles rather than the fat ones that come with it. Rich broth option with Pork Chasu The broth had great flavour. The noodles were cooked great and the pork chasu was fatty (just the way I like it) Umami bomb on each sip. Topping are extra of course The place has a nice setting to it and it's right by two busy cross- streets, so you can really see the hustle and bustle of DT Vancouver while you have your ramen. Try the 'Basic' and slurp away“

“Came for the first time on St. Patrick’s Day. I ordered ramen and requested to remove veggies. I tried Yokohama Iekei Ramen & Karaage on my first time here. I ended up eating karaage without dipping the tartar sauce because it was better without any sauce.“

“I had a lovely lunch of Assorted Oden at Gyo-O recently. It was a simple meal, but Oden isn't something that I see often around here so I was very happy to be able to order it at Gyo-O. There's another restaurant in Richmond that's supposed to specialize in Oden, and I had tried it one time but found it quite disappointing. While there was a wide variety of Oden to choose from, we weren't very impressed with the food when it arrived at our table. Oden is meant to be a hot wintertime stew but the broth that was served with our oden was not at all hot. This Oden at Gyo-O was much better. The broth was hot as it should be, and the size of the food was impressive. The tofu and daikon were both massive! Such humungous chunks of tofu and daikon. I'd had Oden in Japan not too long ago, and the daikon there was also huge. This daikon at Gyo-O was quite comparable in size. Possibly slightly larger even. If I have a craving for Oden, I don't think I'll bother searching for any other place in Vancouver to have it. I'll come straight to Gyo-O again! My friend was with me and she ordered a Tendon bento box. She said the rice texture was a bit off, and ended up pouring soup over her rice to moisten it. The tendon though, according to her was very nicely crisped.Service: GoodParking: Plentiful and freeLocation: #2137 - 3779 Sexsmith Rd., Richmond, BC“

“Very tasty ramen. Soup base tends to be creamy; beware if your stomach doesn't do well with that. Great prices. Just not good for big parties as their big tables are very limited, e.g. 1 or 2 depending on arrangement.Parking: Very difficult to find a parking spot in that area“

“Good bowl of ramen! Great soup and perfect meat. Portion is a bit small but that's just personal appetite. Parking is annoying as you need to scan and pay online, but then diamond parking system double charges you.. no fault if the restaurant though.“

“I love the pork chasiu ramen with garlic sauce while my husband enjoys his ramen with spicy sauce. Rich & hearty broth. We both like the perfectly cooked extra egg. The honey lemon soda was a great combination of bitter, sweet and sour flavor, very refreshing on a warm day. They have clean bathrooms. Happy to come back.“

“Don't let the exterior fool you, this is a gem of a hole in the wall. The ramen was delicious and well spiced--the flavour and umami of it is great! The chasu and smoked pork are so tender and absolutely fantastic, the pork really does just melt in your mouth. I think the only thing I'd like, is if they were part of a delivery service.“

“Been coming here for around the last 4 years, there has been small adjustments but overall, the quality, portions size, value are still all 5 stars. The Black Ramen and Spicy are goto, where the Black Ramen is particularly unique with great flavor. We usually pair it with a Chicken Karrage which are in very fair portions.Honestly one of the better Ramen places in Vancouver, and I would also say Burnaby aswell.“

“A place with good mazesoba (dry mixed noodles) with reasonable price! The noodle itself is very flavourful, and they also have condiments like vinegar and chili flakes for you to adjust the flavour to your liking. They also have very generous portion sizes, and you can add extra noodle for free (portion size comes in regular, XL, XXL). They also provide a small bowl of rice at the end to mix with all the leftover sauces at the end.We ordered the Niku Mazesoba (Spicy) for $16.50 and added a soil boiled egg on the side for $1.99. We both left very satisfied. Will definitely come back again!“

“Decided to come here because another very popular ramen place next door had a 45-minute wait while Kokoro had empty tables, and after eating the food, let me tell you, it is an injustice that this place isn't getting a similar amount of business.I had the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba, and it was amazing; a porky, fishy, garlicy, peppery taste explosion in a creamy sauce that coats your whole mouth with bold flavors, and thick noodles, cut to the perfect length to fill your mouth, and so chewy you get addicted to eating them. It really captures the taste of authentic Japanese food, and reminded me of my travels in Japan. For the price point, you can get any of the 3 bowl sizes AND, with mazesoba, you get a side of rice to mix into the remaining sauce in the bottom of your bowl, which comes out to quite a bit of food. I was definitely satisfied.I came here as an alternative to another restaurant, but it deserves so much better. Now, whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I'm choosing this place first, for sure.HIGHLY recommend.“
“We've been long time patrons of Menya on Broadway, and recently tried the Franklin Foodlab frozen options for home.Delighted by how delicious our bowl were and how easy they were to prepare at home. Vegan Miso and Spicy Tonkotsu bowls. All we're missing is a nice marinated soy egg. Will definitely try out some of the other options“

“The food is delicious. The broth is complex and flavourful, albeit it misses the expected lower notes of gyokai. The egg was boiled at too high a temperature a bit; overcooked yolk on the edges and still runny in the middle. The marinade for it is pleasantly sweet though. The other toppings are average, and the noodles had good bite to them. Overall an enjoyable bowl, but pricier than average in the city. The service staff are very enthusiastic, though they will clear your area complete with wiping it down the minute you put your spoon down. It gives the impression they want you to eat and get out asap. Loud, bar like atmosphere and seating, not conducive to conversation.“

“Mazesoba and a cold drink is the perfect pairing! With the sauce and toppings, sometimes I find the mazesoba a bit salty but having a drink as well would balance the flavour. For people that has a complex palate, add vinegar and pepper flakes into your mazesoba! Don't forget to ask your server for some rice but usually they'll ask you before you ask haha mixing the rice with leftover sauce from the mazesoba completes the experience ? this location is in downtown, really easy to get to from different SkyTrain stations.“

“the intertior is so cute!! the shio ramen i got was also a FLAVOUR BOMBB, chewy noodles and broth gave a punch of flavour. portion sizes are pretty good as well, not too much or too little. on a weekday night we got a spot right away before a waitlist started to form ? servers were super nice and checked up on us often!Dietary restrictions: vegan options“

“If you enjoy tasty ramen on a cold night, this is the place to visit. The broth and noodles were just as delicious as the roast beef. Everything was cooked fresh (you can see the entire kitchen) and tasted as such. The restaurant (despite being small) is tasteful, elegant, and clean inside. The only reason I knocked off one star is because: It's a small location and there are very few tables. There is a very high chance that you will end up waiting outside in a line until a table frees up. This being the case, the staff tries to turn around tables very quickly. Prepare to eat and leave in a hurry. I would avoid coming here if you want a long, peaceful date night dinner. That being said, I would definitely visit this restaurant any time I'm in town.“

“Such delicious food. I am a total novice and the soya / pork broth one was fab. I ordered extra veg and gave my friend my meat. My friend has the spicy one - quite oily with little spice (and I am usually rubbish with spice). Kimchi was great too but made at the Korean place on robson and haro.“

“It’s quite a small and cramped restaurant but it’s well worth it for the quality of service and the ramen that they serve. You might have to wait so be prepared to stand outside.I highly recommend their tsukemen ramen with cold noodles and karamiso soup. It’s a little bit spicy but rich with flavour and the noodles have the perfect texture. We also tried their miso tonkotsu ramen, which was also pretty great, but I wouldn’t say that it’s as good as the tsukemen.Their sides were pretty good, I recommend okonomi gyoza if you want something to complement the ramen.Overall, I highly recommend the this restaurant if you want to try one of the best tsukemen ramens in Vancouver!“

“Maruhachi is my favorite ramen place before it changed its old name “marutama”. This one is the Gaiden of maruhachi which means it has something different. I ordered the Torisoba which has chicken broth chicken chashu and not pork used. It has a different taste than the original broth but delicious as well! Nowadays they offer the original ramen i.e. tamago ramen and so on. But if you are going to try this place, you should try something different like tsukw-men or torisoba! Also I should confess that chicken chashu is not as good as original pork chashu and that may be why people only make chashu in pork.“

“Better than many Vancouver Downtown Ramnen shops!!Came for a quick lunch, surprisingly good!Food:Black Tonkotsu RamenVery good creamy bone broth, unlike some other ramen shops I tried before ( Too much msg and lacking bone flavors), chasu are done in good texture, moist juicy and flavorful! Ramen texture is good. Good amount and comparably reasonable prices. No wonder this is their most popular ramen! Would come back for this again.Garlic miso RamenBroth does not taste as good as the black Tonkotsu Ramen because the spicy sauce tastes too common and supermarket ish~~ but other things are good though.Chicken karageJuicy, good portionService:Very fast and attentive service!Environment:Sooo much better than many small ramen shops in Vancouver, spacious seatings, good table capacity, enough passage space if you need to go to the washroom.Overall, great experience! “Different style of Ramen than what you might be used to. It’s “Tokyo” style which is a lighter, much less fatty, soy based ramen. Really yummy. Also the vibe is old school Japan. I’ve lived in Japan and tried hundreds of ramen places, and the old school shops always have this greasy hole in the wall vibe, just like this place, and I mean that in the best of ways.“

“It’s much more spacious than the store at Station Square, and it has a high ceiling so it’s not stressful to eat. It’s very comfortable. The dry noodles are their signature, and their soup noodles are also good, and they are always There are different seasonal limited editions to try. The ice cream is also delicious, but it sells out quickly. You can also walk around the restaurant. There are also walking trails along the river embankment, but because there are still many unfinished construction sites, there are Sometimes some roads will be closed and you need to turn around to get out.Parking: The building has a free underground parking lot, but there are not many parking spaces. There are also paid parking spaces on the street nearby. If it is a Friday or Saturday night, it will be a little difficult to find a parking space.“

“The food was good, and the server was super kind. My friend and I usually go to another ramen place, and we decided to go try the ramen here since it's kinda new and it's close to our workplace. The place was cozy, and they were very welcoming. I tried spicy chicken ramen, but I was not sure how spicy level I could handle. The server offered the sauce on the side, and we really enjoyed our soup with extra sauce. It was very filling so we couldn't try the dessert.“

“Arigatou ありがとう !This little joint is dope, an awesome spot to grab some good eats sushi grub when your in the hurry from RCH Hospital which has limited options within the area, especially those that are literally adjacent and 200 meters from the entrance. The Agedashi Tofu 揚げ出し豆腐 I must admit was super weird and tasted more like fish stick style batter or nuggets, rather than Tempura. Albeit, the rest of the sushi was plentiful portion and plenty of yummy fresh Edamame 枝豆. The Dynamite Roll 炸虾卷 in fairness was the yummiest, totally dig the added crunchy Yam in there as a sweet edition.Super friendly couple running a quaint, low fuss and minimalistic sushi and poké joint with a nice vibe after very reasonable fare.Support local businesses!“

“The Santouka Ramen Chain is always a solid, this is the benchmark for all ramen in the city (Danbo lovers don't @ me).I opted for the Happy Hour Menu (from 3PM - 6PM) which offers a choice from 3 sides (3 Pieces of Zangi, 3 Pieces of Goro-Niku Gyoza and 3 Pieces of Takoyaki). The ramen in the picture is the Shoyu Ramen which is regular size (they offer a small size which will bring the price down $1, or you can up the size to a large for $1.50).As a firm thin noodle lover, I have no complaints with the ramen quality. The broth was incredibly rich and the Char Siu is soft and flavorful. You definitely need to opt in for the Ajitama soft boiled egg as I genuinely think it's probably one of the best in the city. The Zangi is decent, but the Gyoza is a must order.Note that the restaurant does not allow outside foods for celebratory birthday cakes.“

“Had the ramen of my dreams here.Stopped by on a Wednesday night and grabbed a seat at the bar.It was a small place, only 5 tables and they will only seat you once every one arrives. There was a line most of the time I was dining.I had the spicy garlic ramen and it had such great flavour, spicy in a flavorful but not overpowering way. Noodles were soft and tender with great chews.Staff wasn’t overly friendly, but you don’t go there for the staff.Would definitely recommend and would be worth waiting in line for.“

“My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner this week. I knew it was associated with Jinya downtown, so I had high hopes. We had a new server so we probably could have gotten our drink order taken sooner and not have to wave him down. We ordered pork gyoza to start, disappointed to find out they were out. Ordered spicy tuna mini tacos. Reminded me of over mayoed tuna salad with little spice. Ordered our ramen. Was supposed to come with thick noodles. Was given thin instead. Ordered fatty pork only to be told after our order was taken that they were out. I called the manager over and asked about the noodles (it was written clearly on the menu under the ramen we ordered that it was to come with thick noodles). He agreed the chef should have known better. So I get my ramen redone and miraculously they just got a delivery so the fatty pork was available for me and my husband! I get my new remade ramen and look at the “thick” noodles. I was expecting udon thick. No dice. Think about angel hair pasta and then spaghetti noodles. That was the difference. Kind of disappointing. But the broth and pork were good and because I do love noodles I wasn’t crushed but it just wasn’t what I expected. The manager took 20% off our bill for our troubles which was good. The ebi mayo app was pretty tasty, tho I’d ask for the mayo on the side next time. I’d like to say I’ll go back. Their Poke looks good. I doubt my husband will go back. Don’t go with high expectations, but give it a try.“

“Got the spicy chicken ramen (hot level) and it was a good amount of spice. The soup was flavourful, the thin noodles were a great texture, and the chicken was super tender.Only issue was we stood at the front for a little bit before they seated us, even though we tried to make ourselves more noticeable by stepping further into the restaurant.
