“It was kinda hard to relax with the staff trying to get you tf out of there asap with swift order taking, clearing the dishes, and bringing the bill. But I guess all ramen places operate in that manner. I would go back regardless because the ramen was one of the best in Vancouver. Also, the option for 12% tip on the card machine seems unheard of for a downtown restaurant.“

“I'm from Sydney and found this ramen place from Google maps. Also have lived in a ramen suburb for nearly a year in Japan, so my taste buds are well acquainted with the true ramen.Ordered Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. Soup has the right balance of richness, body to it. Noodles are on the thicker side (as shown in one of the photos). The soup has more of the seaweed flavour as some other reviewers described, so it has a distinct character to it.Chashu uses the right fatty cut so it very soft and tender, not like some places where they use lean cuts.Bamboo shoots are also fresh.Perhaps the egg yolk can be slightly more runnier but I can't ask for anything more. I inhaled the entire bowl of noodes, slurped up all the soup in 15 minutes. This place is definitely worth repeats. If they can do a seemingly plain tonkotsu Shoyu ramen that well, every bowl will satisfy you!Thank you so much for bringing this perfect bowl of ramen.“

“The classic vegan ramen was the best of all we ordered. Second best was miso. We enjoyed the Negi-Goma too. All of them were with medium Rekka spice. And boy it felt spicy towards the end but oh so good. Easily the best Ramen we’ve had in Canada so far between Toronto and Vancouver. We quite liked the side of Karashi Takana (side of pickled veg) Recommend trying their Yaki Gyoza as well.Vegetarian options: Sufficient vegetarian options to choose from“

While the thin noodles is not my preference (i prefer the chewier thicker noodles), the broth was light thanks to the yuzu with a bit of a spice kick. Decent amount of toppings. Good value for money with the combo deal. The mini karage don was pretty good too 9/10. Their homemade ginger ale was quite refreshing 9/10.Service was great.Bar seats not the comfiest but you get a kitchen show.“

“Best ramen we’ve had outside of Japan!! The line out the door is justified, so try come at an off peak time.My broth was rich, fragrant, flavourful and so delicious with the cha shu pork. I chose the thinner style noodles and they were also cooked to a perfect consistency. My husband got the dipping style ramen noodle, which he enjoyed so much. Noodles were bouncy and sauce was very flavourful, can tell it was cooked for a long time. Both noodle bowls were very generous servings for very reasonable prices.Food came out really fast and service was attentive. The service is really good, we went there when It was really busy and still servers They made sure to give us good service, the food was really good, they offered us extra noddles for free, the food is tasty and good size, eating the cheesecake was all an experience, you can feel the cheesecake melting in your mouth, so yummy besides the cute presentation. The only thing to highlight is the spicy level, I have been there, and I ordered both time ramen spicy level 2. The first time was really spicy. However, I really enjoyed it. The second time, it was not spicy as the first, so it is difficult to know what level you gonna get every time, However, I emphasize that despite the spicy level, ramen always has an amazing flavor.Waiting time to be seated: usually fast, no waiting more than 5 minutes.“

“Decided to come here because another very popular ramen place next door had a 45-minute wait while Kokoro had empty tables, and after eating the food, let me tell you, it is an injustice that this place isn't getting a similar amount of business.I had the Mentaiko Cream Mazesoba, and it was amazing; a porky, fishy, garlicy, peppery taste explosion in a creamy sauce that coats your whole mouth with bold flavors, and thick noodles, cut to the perfect length to fill your mouth, and so chewy you get addicted to eating them. It really captures the taste of authentic Japanese food, and reminded me of my travels in Japan. For the price point, you can get any of the 3 bowl sizes AND, with mazesoba, you get a side of rice to mix into the remaining sauce in the bottom of your bowl, which comes out to quite a bit of food. I was definitely satisfied.I came here as an alternative to another restaurant, but it deserves so much better. Now, whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I'm choosing this place first, for sure.HIGHLY recommend.“

“Maruhachi is my favorite ramen place before it changed its old name “marutama”. This one is the Gaiden of maruhachi which means it has something different. I ordered the Torisoba which has chicken broth chicken chashu and not pork used. It has a different taste than the original broth but delicious as well! Nowadays they offer the original ramen i.e. tamago ramen and so on. But if you are going to try this place, you should try something different like tsukw-men or torisoba! Also I should confess that chicken chashu is not as good as original pork chashu and that may be why people only make chashu in pork.“

“? I’M CRAVING SOME NOODS ?We finally had the chance to try out @taishokencanada last week and it definitely hit all the right spots. This small ramen shop on the edge of Chinatown has been serving their signature Tsukemen and Aton lotus ramens for years now. I remember always walking past this ramen shop and being enticed by the smell of their broth wagging out onto the street. And now that I’ve had the chance to try their ramen, I’m beating myself up for not stepping through the doors sooner.Their signature Tsukemen (dipping ramen) is one of the better ones that I’ve tried in Vancouver. You eat Tsukemen by dipping the dry noodles into a condensed broth and slurping it up bite by bite. Once you’re finished with the noodles, you can even ask for a clear broth to dilute your dipping broth so that you can enjoy a post-ramen soup. We tried all three of the Tsukemen broths—original, karamaiso, and spicy. My personal favourite was definitely the spicy, even though I’m not usually a fan of spicy soups. I just found that one to have the most depth of flavour. The noodles were also perfectly chewy but still bouncy at the same time.Their Creamy Tomato ramen though, stole both of our hearts. Each strand of noodle was coated in that delicious tangy, sweet, and umami broth. The melted cheese topping also gave each bite a super rich cream flavour. Even the tofu was soaked in that tomato flavour. My best friend and I couldn’t stop slurping this one. This ramen is also vegetarian friendly—and I promise you will not be disappointed. We also tried out their Okonomi Gyoza as an appetizer which was really delicious as well. I really enjoyed the added flavour from the bonito flakes and okonomiyaki sauce. The bottoms of the gyoza were perfectly seared, giving each bite a nice crunch. If you guys haven’t checked this place out yet, I would definitely recommend you stop by the next time you’re in the area. I haven’t been this satisfied by a bowl of ramen in quite a while. What’s your favourite type of ramen?⭐️9/10??‍♀️10/10?$$ (aprox. $20/person)?Taishoken Ramen | 515 Abbott St, Vancouver[media]“

“The food is delicious. The broth is complex and flavourful, albeit it misses the expected lower notes of gyokai. The egg was boiled at too high a temperature a bit; overcooked yolk on the edges and still runny in the middle. The marinade for it is pleasantly sweet though. The other toppings are average, and the noodles had good bite to them. Overall an enjoyable bowl, but pricier than average in the city. The service staff are very enthusiastic, though they will clear your area complete with wiping it down the minute you put your spoon down. It gives the impression they want you to eat and get out asap. Loud, bar like atmosphere and seating, not conducive to conversation.“

“Food was actually good we both loved it, i got the truffle noodles was very tasty , the pieces of meat my food had was too small and nothing, like wasnt worth the price , very thin i was surprised but the tastes was good , on the other side the other food was good and had more slices of meat in it which makes more sense, picture may not show it as it was but substantially the truffle noodle almost had no meat ,i will go back to try it again as the taste was good, unfortunately our server wasn’t welcoming neither the other lady working there looked so sharp and fast and happy and helped our table too even tho our waitress was someone else , she wouldn’t even bring an extra plate to share the appies we got and when i asked for plate she was surprised people share appies together the may not want to eat in one plate all together, appi was soo good too! “My parents and I ordered 5 items but I have picture of only the first dish. That’s because they all looked so good so we dove right it and ate and forgot to take any picture. It was Easter Sunday. I took my parents around town to look at cherry blossoms. It was around lunch time when we drove through Kerrisdale on the way to UBC so we decided to stop and look for a restaurant. Zubu was the 3rd one we checked out. The menu looked good and we grabbed a bar height table by the window. We ordered:- chicken karaage (8-pc)- edamame- my parents each had a mini tonkotsu ramen- I had the poke bowlThe chicken karaage pieces were generous in size. The coating was light and crispy and the meat was juicy and tender. My parents were glad that there were mini size offerings for ramen which were perfect for them. My dad had a regular and my mom had a medium-spicy (2 on their 4-pt scale). She said it wasn’t spicy at all although she could eat raw chili peppers like snacks. My poke bowl was tipped with all the expected fixants which were fresh and flavourful. Portion was generous as well.It was a perfect Easter lunch for us.“
