“I'm so happy we found this place! Super cute inside. Bright, happy, colorful. The baker is friendly and fun. She helped us find the perfect goodies for our time in Parksville. We tried a lot, ha! Chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cheesecake, lemon curd cheesecake, cinnamon bun cheesecake, churro cheesecake, brownie bites, lemon cupcake, and I think that's it. Everything was spectacular. Great cheesecake texture and balanced flavors. The brownie was rich with a crunchy little crust. The cookies were buttery and filled with chocolate. Everything citrus struck the perfect balance of sweet and tart. AND, the owner gave us advice on things to see in town. We drove to Little Mountain and took a photo with the view and bakery treats. You will love this bakery!“

I guess trying to stop residents of the condos from parking.“

“My husband and I went here for lunch today, like we always do when we pass through this area. I bought 2 loaves of Gluten free bread to take home with me, like I always do. When I got home I started to slice the loaves up and this is what one of them looked like inside. I sent a picture and a message to the restaurant about this. The owner got back to me almost right away. He Apologized and told me they were training a new baker. He offered to give me another loaf for free. He came all the way from Parksville to Nanaimo to hand deliver “2” loaves of gluten free bread to me with an in person apology for the loaf I received. He also suggested I make toad in a hole with the deformed loaf. The level of “make it right” that this owner has shown goes way above and beyond great customer service. Needless to say, I was a customer of trees before this happened but I am also a fan of trees now. Thank you for the most exemplary service you have shown for your customers Ted, you are a great example of what customer service once was and should still be about. Forever grateful.“

“Wild Culture Bakery recently provided the bread and desserts for our Christmas Eve dinner. Jean went out of her way to ensure we had our order when some of the ferries from the Lower Mainland were held up by weather. The whole grain sourdough was hearty and delicious, perfect for sharing around the table. We chose to slice it ourselves, but Wild Culture will also do this for you on request. The sourdough cinnamon bun was scrumptious. The lemon tart had just the right tanginess to sweetness ratio; the butter tart with raisins perfectly melted in your mouth; and the mince tart was so, so good. The pastry on these was so fresh, so deliciously crumbly … We’ll be returning to enjoy these fantastic baked goods served by the friendliest of staff whenever we’re in the area. Thank you, Wild Culture Bakery.“

“The new owners have kept all the old favourites that the customers like, as well as adding new items such as chocolate covered carrot cake bites that were a big hit at Christmas, and delicious fruit pies and cakes that are as light as a feather with European style icing that melts in your mouth. Also, every week new Indian items are added, such as special soups with a splash of Curry that are exposing us to exciting new flavours. Extra tables have been added inside and out, because more and more customers want to sit, enjoying a coffee and a pastry, or a delicious egg bite or a bowl of soup of the day. But it’s the friendly atmosphere, the great customer service and the happy, positive vibes that make this spot a magnet for customers, old and new. It’s like going into “Cheers”, where everybody knows your name and all are greeted by the three owners’ warm and welcoming smiles. Dawne Williams“

“I've had a couple of solid experiences with Rusted Rake. Their brewpub focuses on locally sourced ingredients which is great and skews towards a smaller more curated menu. Couple of minor complaints leaves it short of 5 stars mainly - lack of reservations makes it difficult to get in some times (it's good it is busy!), only having two bathroom stalls can lead to lineups and while the beer is reasonably priced and quite good, the food skews pricey. The chowder is great with a big portion while the gluten free vegan options were better now than they were last year (hummus is a good add). The main dining room is loud and buzzy but can be difficult for those who have trouble hearing. All in all a great add to the area!Vegetarian options: One main veg / vegan / gf main - the falafel - which is a solid option. Other smaller apps as well.“
