“Visited Porto’s Bakery for the first time when in West Covina (reside in Washington). We went on Easter morning expecting it to be super busy. To our luck it was busy, but no line! We got there at 10am and it was raining so we lucked out. They had several staff drying the floor and directing traffic to enserie everyone’s safety avoiding slips. They have an amazing system in place to get customers to the right counter. Everything we tried was fresh and super tasty. We tried the Potato Balls, Cheese Rolls, Refugiado, Chicken Empanada, Torrejas, breakfast croissants, Pork Tamales and a few other pastries along with lattes, guava lemonade & hot chocolate. We went all out! There was not one item that we bought that was bad or that we wouldn’t buy again. I was able to buy several items to bring back home. So we had a wonderful breakfast there and had several pastries and goodies to bring home.“

“So happy my wife and I found this place! First off the folks that work here are so sweet and thoughtful. Constantly making sure we have what we need and pointing out tables that are open incase we want a bigger table. You walk in and you’re greeted by the sweetest people . The food here reminds me of my abuela! Their cafe de olla is also spot on! I make this at home too and the one they make is perfect- reminds me of my favorite one in Mexico . I love the churros and the chilaquiles dishes are so filling and they are generous w the protein of choice. My favorite is the salsa verde one w eggs. We love coming here for our breakfast dates. Makes me miss my grandma too.“

“Last minute search for a breakfast/brunch type spot and found Marin Cafe. It's located in an area off of Rosmead that shares a small parking lot with Zapien's Salsa Grill. It is a small lot but there's parking on the other side. I went while it was raining in the morning around 9 so it was pretty empty. The cafe is a small shop with 3 four-seater tables so not good for huge groups. But the decor was really cute and cozy. A mix of cafe and small bakery. Love the painted walls with the cake and bakery items painted on. There was a large display case of various bakery good from conchas, to croissants, to cakes and cake slices. Everything looked so good. Brisa (I hope I didn't spell her name incorrectly, apologies!) was our barista and she was lovely. Very friendly and let us take our time, she answered my bf's questions about the food. We chatted here and there and then placed our orders with her. She kept us updated on our food as they made the wrong sandwich for me and needed to remake it which was no problem and appreciated. The food was delicious! We ordered a concha, with an Abuelita hot latte, a mocha hot latte, breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Recommend the Abuelita hot latte for sure, perfect on a rainy cold day. The chocolatey spice from the Abuelita was so good with the espresso, the mocha was great as well great blend of chocolate and coffee. Now the breakfast sandwich was bomb, presentation and taste were great. Eggs were hot and fluffy, bacon crispy, with ham, and refreshing tomato avocado and lettuce with a honey mustard type sauce. It also came with a side of potato salad, pickles and banana peppers. The potato salad is EXACTLY how I like it, not mayonnaise-y and sweet. Brekfast burrito was nice and filling too, bf said he'd definitely add bacon next time as mine was crispy in my sandwich hash browns were crispy and the creamy lime cilantro sauce was so good with it. I also ordered a slice of the mocha tres leches cake...so good not overly sweet and mocha wasn't too strong. The cake was overly saturated with milk which I would've like but it had the right amount of moistness so not to make it soggy. All in all definitely reccomend this little gem of a cafe. Owners and staff are all friendly and the food and drinknwere fantastic. Definitely coming back for more cake!“

“This is a small cafe in a medical plaza. There are minimal seating but they do provide some additional seating in front of the pharmacy inside the building! We arrived a little after if opened and there were already many people ahead of us! We tried the chocolate strawberry banana waffle as well as their egg deluxe croissant. They were fairly priced! They were both delicious though I wish I had asked them for a crispier waffle. Their service was just as expected for a small cafe making everything to order. We waited about 10-15 minutes. We would definitely come back to try their bagel deluxe!“

“Classic American coffee shop and breakfast joint. Consistently great food and friendly staff. Breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches and dinner items that feel like home cooking. Bring cash as it's a cash only establishment.Dietary restrictions: Food made to order“

“Food was a bit pricey but good. I am all for paying extra for a good meal and service. It was the Cash Only that got me. ATM says 2.75 fee but when I checked my bank they took an additional fee of 2.50 that’s a $ 5.00 inconvenience charge to your customer just for choosing to eat at your restaurant. Not worth it.“

“Came to try this out with my 3 kids and it was incredible. The grilled cheese was on point, and my kids devoured it. I asked for a recommendation for a not so sweet ice i coffee and the barista told me to try a caramel ice coffee. REALLY good! Also got some chocolate cake for desert. I'll be back to try every item on the menu lol. Also, I found a new life hack (if I'm late, I'm sorry). Bringing toddlers to the mall before the stores open is not only free, but the toddlers can explore all the shops without causing a ruckus!“

“I stopped by randomly at night, and it was empty. The decor was nice and vibrant. With lots of anime stuff, which is awesome to me as an Otaku. I ordered the mango passion fruit lemonade. It was made quickly and to perfection. The level of sweetness to tartness was spot on. The lady asked me to taste it before I left to ensure I liked my drink. I told her it was perfect. This particular location has had many tea owners inhabit it, but hopefully, this place is around for a long while. I wanna try lots of other delicious drinks!“

“It’s looks so good and tastes so good. To be honest I was a little overwhelmed by the many options on the menu couldn’t decide what to order. It was a weekend, the staff was very busy and I felt pressured to order quickly. But the staff stepped away to help make drinks and others’ orders. They are very fast paced. I ended up ordering Gavin’s sandwich, it was a nice breakfast option. I called and waited for someone to come back to the register to be able to take my order and it was just what I wanted. Glad I took my time to decide. I really appreciate the quality, very fresh and delicious. The latte was good as well! Although there was nice ambient music I couldn’t help but feel a little stressed out by the ordering system. That day they were really yelling out numbers loudly and repetitively for each customer to come pick up their orders from the front and not just once or twice but as many times as needed until the person went to go claim their order. This kind of killed the chill vibe for me. But overall nice food options and good quality like a gem at this town square I didn’t expect it. Even though I ordered something other than a crepe I wasn’t disappointed kuddos they are doing it right.“

“Visited this cozy spot and was instantly won over, not just by the super yummy, kid-friendly meals, but also by all those lovely little details. Every element, from high-quality utensils to bowls and curry pots designed for easy handling, has been thoughtfully selected. Even the bamboo tray added a cute, homely vibe. Service might lean towards the slow side, but the wait is worth it when you know each dish is freshly prepared. It felt like each dish was made with care just for us.“

“I enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Great flavor in the waffles and the texture of the waffles was 5 star. ( I was told that unicorn tears in the batter is the secret) and the wings had a wonderful crunch. (It was not just a heavy breading) with a juicy flavorful meat. The vinegar base chili sauce mix well with the chicken awesome flavor. (The use of the tears of past enemies) perfection. It's a small place with a big friendly atmosphere.“

“The famous franchising local coffee shop. Many people gather in the morning while the lane is sometimes long and the seats may face the shortage of the seats. The coffee is generally good as I tried the vanilla Bean Flavored Latte. There is somehow a secret menu of the affogato named as the Summer's Macchiato! The espresso with the vanilla ice-cream scroop! That's great in taste and cheap in price. Plenty of parking here and have the curbside pickup option if using the App. Might try for the good items next time.“

“This coffee shop is a spacious place to work/study while also getting some grub. They sell coffee, tea, food, and ice cream! I love how much space there is here. They are in a plaza with so much parking space. Just behind the building is HMart. There are plenty of outlets. There is a comfy couch. There is one bathroom. There is even a separate room in the back with more tables and chairs. There's even a larger tall table with eight stools for big groups.I got the So Matcha So Milk, which is different from the matcha latte because it doesn't have espresso. The barista gave me a large cup, but I should have asked about the size. I didn't need such a large drink!“

“This bakery is perfect for coffee and bread enthusiasts alike. Once in awhile, I come here to treat myself to a delicious warm coffee bun. There's nothing like it --the irresistible blend of softness, sweetness, and a hint of coffee in each bite. Right when you enter this small bakery--you are greeted with the alluring smell of coffee. Chef's kiss!!! I've been a long time fan ever since they were under a different ownership called "Oh My Buns" I knocked off a star for the mediocre service and high price point. In comparison to the $1 cheese roll at Porto's, the coffee bun (about $3/bun)--is a splurge. All in all, I would come here again and would recommend this place.“

“04.10.24 My second time at LA County Arboretum and it's just absolutely beautiful place to visit. The Peacock Cafe is a perfect place to take a break. I had the burger and fries lunch - so yummy! I think this cafe is a great addition to the arboretum because of the very good quality and taste of food. Good enough on the number of selection to choose from. The staff are welcoming and provide pretty good service.I'm not sure if the two peacocks that graze the cafe know that they are considered to be permanent live entertainment for cafe goers. They sure make the cafe a pretty good place to hang out and they do put on pretty good show.LA County Arboretum is a must visit - I suggest calling first to find out best time of year to visit. It's mating season for peacocks so you'll see a pretty good show with males doing their best to attract the female peacocks. There is a tram to tour the arboretum. I highly recommend paying for the tram to see the whole place first as there's pretty good information about the park.“

“Mmmmnn best boba I have tried here in LA. I love the Hokkaido milk tea flavor. So unique of a flavor and was so delicious. I asked for 30-50% sugar. We tried to go up the drive through without a car and they said we would have to get our car. There was also no seating. Besides that, the name is what it represents: it's an express boba grab-and-go. Yum! Prices were so good too!“
“If you want a special treat in a Korean style, you have to try Sul & Beans. They are located in different cities as a chain so check the closest one near you. As people typically know, Korean desserts are sticky rice cake, shaved ice, anything with red beans, fruits, etc. Well, guess what? You can get all that in one place and I'm specifically talking about Korean bingsoo (shaved ice.) The ones that they serve is fusion so you get to pick and choose what you want as a topping. I like the fact that they not only kept the Korean traditional way but also combined with ingredients such as bread, cookies, etc. in a very well balanced way so it doesn't hurt the authenticity. Anything you try, I'm sure you won't get disappointed. They also have Bungeo-ppang (aka carp bread) that is a fish-shaped pastry stuffed with sweetened red bean paste, which originated from the Japanese taiyaki. And, you can choose to have cream filling as well if you don't prefer red bean paste. Another option is the toast that has Injeolmi, which is another kind of Korean rice cake. If it's your first time experiencing Injeolmi, I recommend trying the original first. It is warm and gooey at the same time, which is a perfect combination. The shop is pretty small and due to its popularity, it is always packed every time I visit. It is not a place for group because they don't have enough space but it definitely is a place for 3-4 people to hang out. Because it is a Korean owned business, the service is great and everything comes out really fast. I actually wanted to treat my coworkers with these amazing desserts but the only way you can make that happen is to pick up yourself, which is scary because for instance, the shaved ice needs a special packaging and triple care during the transporting process. I called the headquarter to request the delivery method and even though it is in a large order, they denied it, unfortunately.“

“The guy was super nice and helpful. He explained the menu to me explained how the drinks work asked if I wanted a tea, shake l, a smoothie, a bowl, they have so many options! He explained the healthy benefits of the different options they had available to choose from. They even have protein waffles and donuts, and then of course they have yummy shakes to choose from as well. I chose a raspberry aloe tea, cold. It was very refreshing. It's going to be a hit when it gets hotter for sure. The restaurant itself is a pretty good size. They have several small tables with chairs. They have a couch. They have a cute sign. You can take pictures under. It's pretty spacious in there. Nobody is standing right next to each other. Everyone has plenty of room. I will be back next week for a waffle Thursday!“

“Overall, pretty standard 7L. My gripe is the location is pretty funky overall. It sits close to a busy street and is a mostly pickup and drive-thru location even though there is an outside patio seating area (next to the street) and some seats inside on the side where you initially enter for drive-thru and is an elongated hall.I'm not sure if anyone would like to do work or study at this location, but it's okay if you're going for the drive-thru or you're on foot/walking.“

“Update: 2024. Been back since my “ missing avocado toast” incident. Almond butter croissant is excellent and told to WAIT for the toast when paying and receiving my bakery items. They have seating for small parties of 1-4……..The service is friendly but they’re all trying to help each other with larger orders and no one verifying completeness but of course they charged full order with $8 avocado toast missing. “Cute boba place in the heart of downtown Covina on Citrus. They have a spacious dining area and looked like it was a former frozen yogurt shop. Decor was very cute and they still had Christmas decorations up. In addition to drinks, they offer bubble waffles, avocado toasts, and a variety of fried snacks. Order at the counter or kiosk. I got the Tarolicious (available only on weekends), the super fruit tea, and the lychee green tea with lychee jelly. All the drinks came out really good. The Tarolicious was not the typical powdered taro that other places use, but rather a house made taro paste that's smeared in the cup. It was tasty and I really enjoyed it (once you mix up the taro with the rest of the drink). The super fruit tea was refreshing and at the perfect level of sweetness at 70% sweet. The lychee drink is not on the menu but rather a "custom drink". There was only one girl working when I was there and I saw a constant flow of people coming in to order, so naturally it took a while for my drink to come out. Not sure if that's their normal staffing l, but I would recommend that if you're in a rush, ask to see how long it will take to get your drink. They also have a private party space available in the back, contact them for pricing and availability. Check in on Yelp to get 15% off your order!“

“Parking/Wait: There is a very small lot with ~5 spots. Never had problems parking there, and there is also a bunch of street parking.Food/Drinks: Their Earl Grey Milk Tea makes my knees weak. Never tried their food, but they have your typical Taiwanese snacks and more. Boba quality is also pretty good (very qq), but be careful if you want some when they are ~1 hr from closing (always out of boba by then). Ambiance/Service: Nice little shop with a bunch of seating. You can definitely study here since there is free wifi. Service is always fast, and I never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my drink. Only one or two people working there at a time, so maybe your mileage will vary.Sustainability: Plastic everything but that's pretty standard. Summary: When I'm back home, this is one of the Boba places that I have to go to. I'm a sucker for Earl Grey, and they do it gooood here.“
