“I wish I had taken a photo because it was prepared in an appealing way, seriously food porn. Now let me tell you... the poke I got with tuna and hamachi was off the charts. So fresh! I had chunky pieces of sushi till my last bite and I only got the small size, the portions were perfect. The sides were delicious, I got the Mac salad and edamame. The shoyu, ponzu and yuzu sauces were so tasty. I also got the spicy mayo and it was perfectly spiced. All of the toppings were fresh as well and they were not cheap on the avocado! The service was fantastic from the moment I walked in. They were busy getting orders ready but did not miss a beat when greeting me. Super helpful in checking in while I was reading the menu and deciding. They didn't forget to check in again and had perfect timing when realizing I was ready to order. Answered all of my questions, I didn't have too many questions but the responses were quick and descriptive. Everyone was attentive, polite and friendly. The ambiance was bright, energetic and perfect for lunch. I came in just before lunch started. Enjoyed my meal at the restaurant and had to give compliments because I was very impressed!!“
“This is at the top of the list for my sushi spots in the vicinity of Berkeley campus. The restaurant is relatively relaxed and quiet with indoor seating and, as a smaller place, the food can take a little longer to arrive (20-30 minutes). This is no dealbreaker but just something to keep in mind. The food itself exceeded all of our expectations. Splitting the sushi burritos into three, we didn't expect each one to be particularly sizable, but they're bigger than any of us expected and the flavors are spot on. I've had sushi burritos before, but they've always felt engineered, with the sushi part being an after thought. This place truly serves what I'd consider a sushi burrito. The three rolls we got were the golden spider, 49er, and mexico city spicy tuna roll. They were all great. Admittedly, I rarely think sushi is bad since it's my #1 comfort food, but this place sets itself apart by letting the flavors of the fish carry the bite. The 49er roll, for instance, tastes like a bite of fatty salmon adorned with other complimentary flavors, rather than a bite of rice and seaweed with an added bit of fatty salmon. There are a few other sushi spots in Berkeley but this is the one I'd go to. If you're a sushi lover, I bet this place won't disappoint!“
“Located in the old Chinese Express spot (RIP) -- this place is clean and fast! Generous portions, and they have mini plates if you want less food. I imagine it's great for students living around there. Tried it on a whim, as I was really craving some chicken katsu. The only reason I am giving four stars and not five is because the chicken katsu sauce was lose money.... a total miss. It was watery, and didn't taste at all like the ketchup + worcestershire sauce mixture that katsu sauce is supposed to taste like. It was just weird. No big deal -- I just made my own -- but this is a critical part of a chicken katsu plate! Please fix this, Moku BBQ, so that people can properly enjoy chicken katsu. Otherwise, I was satisfied (as satisfied as I can reasonably expect to be, eating "Hawaiian BBQ" anywhere outside of Hawaii). If you're from Hawaii and want to eat katsu, you can get some passable katsu here -- but be prepared to make your own sauce.“
“[Delivery] The teriyaki chicken is great, tastes very authentic Hawaiian and not too sweet. Exactly the texture you want for HBBQ. The beef is solid, and not overly fatty. The kahlua pork was good as well, though not as juicy as I'd prefer. In any case, glad to have found this place, and will definitely be ordering the teriyaki chicken again.“
“Ordered takeout from this place and the portion is great! I added crispy onion, nori strips, sesame seed, corn, cucumbers, white onion, green onion, edamame, pineapple, seared albacore, spicy tuna, brown rice, blue chips, and crab salad. The sauces added are house shoyu and habanero aoili. The highlights for me are seared albacore and habanero aoili sauce! Overall, the price is worth the portion and the amount of items you can add.“
“I ate very delicious and the large bowl has enough food, I was full ? It is an ideal place to eat healthy and fast, an ideal environment for students. There are complete dishes or you can design your own bowl with the ingredients you like the most.“
“I always come here since they've opened!! The food is always super fresh and tasty!! Lots of flavor made with lots of love!!:) Today I ordered from doordash & we all know doordash can be a bit goofy when it comes to modifying orders... Not an issue when you have awesome people working at this restaurant:) I called to tell them the issue I was having on the app.. I wanted to add-extra macaroni to my order (who doesn't love the macaroni!! I mean come-on it's the best!) the nice lady who I was speaking on the phone with told me not to worry about it; fixed my order and gave me extra macaroni - no extra charge! It's the little things that make me happy and us customers happy! Now I'm happy and full :D“
“I have been going to Moki’s for over a decade and could not recommend it more. Their food is delicious, and there is something for everyone (good vegetarian food too). In addition, the service is quick and amazing. My personal favorites are the avocado rolls and French fries.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly!“
“I did catering here and I'm glad that they open early on a Saturday as well as their online system, was smooth convenient to use. Kalua pork was too dry. If I knew, I would have opted for either crispy shrimp or chicken katsu. I wished that they had pork katsu so I would have ordered pork katsu and get a variety of chicken, beef and pork. BBQ chicken was nicely flavored and tender as well as their BBQ short ribs. They tried to be healthy with cabbage on the bottom and broccoli on each corner. I ate the veggies with the abundant meat. Macaroni salad was on point. Spam musubi and lumpias were added and nice starters. Portions are generous.Recommended spot - especially when feeding a village party!“
“At first glance you think this place is kitsch made real (and it is) but the food is original and good and the drinks are a delight. Yes, it's kitschy, but it's moved past that into "classic".Parking: Take a Lyft! Parking is terrible.“
“I've ordered takeout from ILava a couple times on Doordash. Their orders have been tasty, with pretty good portion size relative to the price (these days). I've had their Chicken Combo Plate (Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki), Walnut Prawns and the Curry Chicken (BBQ Chicken with Curry Sauce instead of the teriyaki sauce). Their normal plates come with two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. Compared to some of the other Hawaiian places in the area, this is probably one of my new favorites.“
“This has to be one of those hole in the wall Chinese spots that if you quickly drove by, you wouldn't have realized it was a gold mine! First off, quality of their food was amazing! After getting back home with our to go box, the fried food was still CRISPY. It was the crispy fish filet that sold us! Wow, batter was amazing, fluffy and did I say... crispy? Let's talk about the service, upon walking in I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello and smile by a younger girl who looked like she was probably helping her family's business, scooping away filing orders and still able to friendly greet me. Ambience was more to go style but they did have some tables and benches you'd be able to enjoy your food at. Parking might also be hard to come by since it's on a main busy street as well. We will be back to support!!“
“I was pleasantly surprised when this place popped up on my TGTG app and I decided to give it a try. Haven't had any poke ever since coming back from Oahu 2 years ago. It was a big box of fresh proteins when a variety of fish and shrimp. The staff was very friendly and it was very easy for me to find a parking spot. Will come back!“
“Solid food! Was here before heading to the Honda dealership. Service was nice and speedy. Ordered a chicken teriyaki combo, that came with two scoops of rice, a heart portion of chicken, some broccoli and macaroni. Ambiance is not much to write about, very humble decor. But the food is a hit!“
“Update: "$20-30" is inaccurate/misleading. For 2, you can expect to spend $110 after tax and tip if you get one of their combos. The crab/shrimp/clam combo is $80.Excellent crab/clams/shrimp Cajun combo. Even mild was quite spicy. Gave me a HUGE stomach ache the next morning (due to the spice) but I still want to go back. Will just have to take some Tums/Pepto.Vegetarian options: Definitely avoid this place if you are vegetarian“
“If you want a quick and easy poke bowl, Hi City is definitely a good stop to come by. It's in the financial district, so a lot of workers come here during lunch hours. They have preset bowls on their menu, or you can just create your own. I ended up getting their preset bulgogi bowl as well as the salmon poke bowl which I ended up building. They have lots of different marinades for their salmon and tuna proteins, so it's nice to see those options. I will say the bulgogi is quite salty from the sauce, so you definitely need to eat it with more rice to dilute the flavor if you get it. Other than that, it's a pretty simple poke bowl shop. Nothing really out of the ordinary, but it's still good.“
“Tried the one inside The Oracle, recommended by a nice lady sitting in front of us (who said she looks forward to it every game and fish is fresh every day). Oooooh definitely a must! The ladies at the booth were nice. Service was fast and the food was delicious! Definitely fresh and simple but tasty!I wish there was a bit more greens that went with the generous amount of fish.“
“I think everyone should give this a place a try when on the fly. There plates are filling to the stomach, fresh, full of different good bold flavors, and decently filled up. It was worth the price. And its served immediately. You can pretty much walk have your plate filled with your choices then pay for it then take your full plate and walk out.“
“A Poke place walking distance from work. Portions are great for the small build a bowl. The spicy tuna with sriracha aioli is a must if you want some heat and balance with cucumbers and crab salad. Ordered online and I believe it was made quick but GrubHub was slow to update status. No line or customers when I arrived, but also sad because there is less foot traffic for the small businesses around here.“
“Masa Ramen BistroStopped off at Masa Ramen Bistro for an early Saturday dinner. Street parking, but it wasn't an issue. Only a handful of people in the restaurant. These are the dishes we ordered in descending order of my preference.Diamond Head - this ramen bowl is legit. Soup is rich and creamy. Noodles have a good chew to them. The flavor is great and you get a nice whole soft boiled egg.Broke the Mouth - we ordered a 3 out of 5 which was spicy but not knock me over spicy. It was kind of interesting with a mountain of shredded parmesan in there. Despite it being tasty, I think my preference would be a straight black garlic version (Kuni).POG - pretty sweet and tropicalDa Kine Chicken - the chicken was well fried and marinated. I don't think there was much seasoning on the breading though. Also thought the pairing with the ponzu sauce was a bit odd.Bruddah Brussels - these were brussel sprout halves, coated with panko and parmesan and fried. Hot and tender in the middle. Just wasn't working for our family and it largely went uneaten. Normally when we're getting fried brussel sprouts, they're crispy, greasy, well-seasoned, and gone faster than the Flash. All in all, I'm always ecstatic when I find a good bowl of ramen in the East Bay. They are just so few and far between. Definitely will come back for that and maybe try out some of the other appetizers.“
