“As I was waiting hangrily 45 minutes after I placed my order and 30 minutes after the ETA on my phone this painting soothed me until I ultimately received what I drove over an hour to get. Yes, it's that good. Please order with your phone, not in person. It makes things operate more smoothly for everyone and decreases the wait time for the crack. I mean food. Well I don't know what they put in their chicken, but full disclosure you might start experiencing side effects if you don't get your fix. Consider yourself warned. It can become a pricey habit and there is no rehab to get you off their sauce. Have you twitching like Tyrone Biggums for a "Sando with training wheels".“

“Everything was so good! I came for SF restaurant week so I got to try the chicken and sausage gumbo, the shrimp po boy, the lemon pound cake, and the brown butter rice crispy treat. Everything was 10/10, no notes!!The sauce on the po’boy was amazing, I could drink that. And the gumbo was super flavorful (I would recommend adding crab!) you could really taste the brown butter in the rice crispy, and the pound cake was nice and soft and moist with a lovely lemon icing. Also very chill vibes! Please check this place out!“

“To celebrate our 27th anniversary, we went to @oldskoolcafe. The greeters, cooks and servers are all young people. Mama T opened this place to help at risk youth learn work and life skills (like how to get a license, do taxes, set a bank account). Partnering with experienced chefs, this restaurant has excellent food… and live jazz!!! We ordered the Taumoepeau Ota (think ceviche) and it was a great appetizer… light and the fish was super fresh. We had the short ribs which were super tender and had a rich gravy. We didn’t think we had room for dessert, but the lavender cheesecake and the Guittard chocolate brownie were fabulous! If you are in the city: GO! SUPPORT! ENJOY DELICIOUS FOOD!“

“The hardest thing about Burdell is that you can't eat everything in one sitting but you really want to. Tonight was our first time dining here, and we are already looking forward to going back. My husband and I started with cocktails and they were absolutely delicious. Then we had the chicken liver and waffles and we all but licked the plate. For dinner I had the fried petrale sole and my husband had the pork neck. We also couldn't resist getting the whipped potatoes, which were everything you want potatoes to be. We both loved our entrees and stole bites from each other. Very flavorful, very lovely presentation, and nice portions. For dessert we shared the chocolate puddin and it was also excellent. We were well taken care of by all of the staff and got some lovely drink recommendations that paired well with each course. We really enjoyed this dining experience and look forward to returning. We would like to do the family dinner with beverage pairing next. Love this place!“

“100% Halal meats! This place is delicious, my husband and I got takeout and we ordered the Punjabi masala bhindi (mild) Malai Kofta (mild) Chicken curry (medium) Chilli chicken (mild) Tandoori roti and plain rice The mild is perfect but the medium could be a tad more spicy. Looking forward to trying some more, especially the Indo Chinese.“

“My wife and I went to Rob Ben's restaurant this past Sunday, and was happy that we did. We were searching for a good down home soul food restaurant and to our surprise we found a gem. Rob Ben's is the prime example of what a soul food restaurant should be. It has the down home southern charm located in Emeryville, California. Everyone was so friendly from the staff to the customers. It was like as soon as you crossed the threshold of the door everything became so peaceful. We will definitely be returning customers because the food was so delicious!! We will enjoy the rest of our food for dinner tonight. We recommend Rob Ben's SOUL FOOD restaurant to everyone searching for great food and friendly service. Thank you Rob Ben's staff!! Save some food for us!!“
“Chef Lala of Jusla Eats was a joy to work with. She was professional, responsive, and runs an efficient operation. Her food was top notch - I ordered the honey garlic chicken, fried catfish, mac and cheese, greens, yams, banana pudding and peach cobbler for an extended family and friends meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, and seasoned just right. Everyone went back for seconds, and raved about the food. I started recommending her to my friends before I even left the reception!“
“OMG, the seasoning on the fried fish was so good!! I ate up all of the cabbage because it was full of flavor. And the candied yams were just perfect. These guys know what they're doing! They're in a food truck in the parking lot of the Hunter's Point Speakeasy.“

“One of the best fried chicken in a long time. It looks dry but there's a lot of juice and flavor once you get into it. If it was delivered I don't think it would taste as good. The fried cod was good but not great because it wasn't juicy or buttery soft. The cornbread sides were yummy. The Mac and cheese was cheeeeesy and thick and medium spicy. Collard greens were normal. Green beans were sweet and yummy. Fries were normal fries.I asked for tap water since I didn't want a drink and the server looked surprised (and partly disgusted because I wanted faucet water?) and asked if I wanted bottled water instead. I said sure so we could end the conversation and didn't see the charge on the final receipt. I wasn't sure if the server forgot to add it or bottled water is free. Overall not a complaint but if you want to avoid drink confusion, either don't order water or bring your own lol“
“Great quality food made with LOVE! Wonderful family business with great service to match. I really enjoyed the salmon sliders.. by far my favorite on the menu. The salmon nuggets are nice and juicy and comes with so much flavor. Definitely recommend trying this place.“

“I've patronized the location in Emeryville, and my bet is that she will be just as successful in this new location. The chicken is fried to perfection, as was sampled at her grand opening of her new locale. Also, samples of the fried Mac and cheese balls were outstanding. I believe this will be the new hot spot on Fillmore Street. Congratulations, Ms. McPherson. As you say, surrounded by your brothers, "I've always been a boss!" So your success is guaranteed, indeed!.“

“Oh my the place resembles a true image of a "hole in the wall", but Oh!, don't let the location nor look fool you. The food is absolutely amazing! The chicken will have you thinking, "This reminds me of home!" The sides were delicious too and lastly, the counter staff were very polite and respectful. When I'm in the area, I'm most definitely going to return to, Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken!!!“

“We stopped here on our honeymoon back in June 2021. I still think about about this food almost every day. Hands down the best greens, mac n cheese, and yams I have EVER eaten. It is magical. I just want to move to Oakland and live upstairs so I can't have it all the time. ???“

“I have eaten at Hard Knox in the past and have always gotten some pretty decent food. I haven't eaten there since the the pandemic. I was seriously craving a shrimp po'boy so I placed an order through Uber Eats. The first issue was, even though Hard Knox is literally 5 minutes away, our food arrived barely warm. My friends were happy with their order (3 piece fried chicken and blackened catfish) I had ordered some extra sides plus my po'boy. One of the sides was wrong. They gave me potato salad instead of mashed potatoes and gravy. I don't know if they have new cooks or what, but the potato salad and the shrimp po'boy did not have remoulade or straight up mayonnaise but some kind of sweet, barbque type sauce on/in them. YUCK! I was ravenous but could barely eat the po'boy due to the cloying, sweet, barbque type sauce it rendered my sandwich inedible. The same sauce was in the potato salad! WTF! My side was also kind of gross. I usually love candied yams/sweet potatoes but this version had some weird, over abundance of some kind of seasoning (I couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be but it overpowered the sweet potatoes and they were not appetizing, at all!). Since my friends were happy with their meals, I am giving 3 1/2 stars. Whoever is preparing the food here, you need to check your recipes. A TRUE po'boy has remoulade or mayonnaise. I was very disappointed and still hungry. Since the order was delivered through Uber Eats, I couldn't directly complain (and the "bots" on UE had a hard time understanding what I was talking about) I probably, unfortunately, won't order another po'boy from Hard Knox. Sigh“
