“The Chicken Fried steak was delicious. Somehow, the cook manages to make the "plain" potato wedges taste utterly gourmet. It's one of the most satisfying meals I've had in a very long time. I'd smelled their very enticing grilled hamburgers from outside before, and was hoping to order one, but it was too early - breakfast menu only. I ended up being super glad, as my meal was perfect. Service was especially friendly and responsive. One odd thing happened - we got a carafe of cold water and the last glass, ie from the bottom, delivered a really strong taste of chlorine. It was a hot day and I was eating the ice as well as drinking the water; don't know if it was in an ice cube or the water itself. Couldn't get the chlorine taste out of my throat for two days. This is just FYI... I still left enthused, and hope to return soon.“

“An unexpected delight. Come on in to the Saloon to order or go straight past Lobby Checkin and food counter is on your left. Gorgeous raised outdoor patio views with beautiful desert garden beneath. Very well done!Then the food! I haven't had a burger that great in a long time. It was the kind where you need five napkins and oh, so delicious. I chose to customize mine which they encourage. Additionally, their secret sauce was yummy. Full bar available.If you need more reasons to try them out; the service was impeccable and it's adjacent to the AB Park Visitors Center.Kid-friendliness: They make phenomenal shakes and custom burgers to ensure kids will like them!“

“We were told to be cautious of eating here by a server at the place we tried to eat at across the way, but we risked it and we did not get sick in any shape or form. It's one of the cheaper places to eat at in this town. This combination plate was such a steal. My partner got just the burrito and they were very jealous of my combo plate because we essentially got the same size burrito but i also got the enchilada with beans and rice (he paid basically the same price for less). I did not finish the combination plate and ended eating the burrito the next day. Note: i did not eat the beans because i was worried about getting sick.“

“Excellent food! Went in after visiting Anza-Borrego and place was packed being lunch time. Took a little time for food but it was worth it. I had the club sandwich with fries that was really good. Everyone was surprised by the quality and enjoyed their meals“

“This was our first time at this location and so when we saw a sign for Carmelita's Mexican Grill we were excited and decided to stop. We entered through the Cantina and were greeted by staff and noticed the immediate smell of the Mexican food. Our first introduction was the salsa and chips which were great! Our server Adrianna was at our table quickly and friendly. We noticed that after giving our request that she was all over the restaurant serving all the other tables like a bubble bee at each flower. We got our food pretty quick and we noticed immediately how hot it was and when it cooled a bit just how great it was too. I had the beef Chimichanga and it was cooked to perfection along with rice and beans. We also had the shrimp fajitas which my wife tells me were absolutely divine and she couldn't stop eating because they were so good. The freshly made corn tortillas were a big hit at he table as well. All in all our luncheon was outstanding and the service was excellent, thanks to Adrianna and staff who were so friendly and courteous. We have scheduled to return to Borrego Springs in a few months to enjoy another great luncheon.“

“We ate here while staying at Casa del Zorro resort. Prices are high as expected for a resort restaurant, especially in a remote location where they have to truck everything in, but aside from that, we had a great meal: lentil soup, pasta bolognese, stuffed shells, beef short ribs. The rolls were fresh and piping hot, portions were generous, the short ribs were very tender, and everything was well seasoned without being too salty. Ambiance is old school clubby, mellow and not noisy. The food came out quickly and our waitstaff were helpful and courteous. The mixed drinks lacked a little pizzazz but the wine selection is extensive.“
