“Held a group dinner for 14 here on a Friday. The process for booking, menu selection, etc., were all very professional and easy. Great menu options, flexible re food allergies, and the room was lovely - if too tight for the cocktail/ circulating hor d'oeuvres concept. People clustered in the 4 corners of the room and didn't have room to really mingle. Considering it was a relatively big group, the food was quite good (though duck was a bit tough & scallops were disappointingly small - not succulent).I would come again. Conundrum is that the minimum was high for our group, so I'd book again for a larger group, but the room would be really too tight for more than, say, 16 people.“

“Three of us were just having a light dinner. We ordered 2 arugula salads, Kennebec cut fries, a side of garlic bread, a side of mushroom medley, and the special salmon appetizer. Other than the salmon being somewhat skimpy, everything was great. The salad was fresh, and the combo of almonds, blueberries, beets, and cheese was delicious. A light, flavorful dressing. The fries were thick, piping hot and crispy. Yum. Great service from a lovely wait person. My 2nd time here- will definitely return.“

“This is a culinary delight and an absolute MUST dining experience in the super quaint "Main Street" area of San Mateo. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive - as if you were honored guests in their home. The food was incredible - truly something for everyone - and delicious. The wine list is extensive - they offer Caymus Cab by the glass; a rare occurence. The cocktails were well crafted. Start to finish...this was a meal and an establishment to remember. I will be back! You need to check this place out!!Parking: Immediately in front of the restaurant is a walkable promenade (no vehicular traffic) - 2nd & 3rd Streets offer limited street parking, some of which is restricted - much is taken up by restaurant outdoor dining "parklets". YOUR BEST BET is the Main Street Parking Garage. You only pay until 6 PM...it is free until 2 AM thereafter.Kid-friendliness: Not so much. This is definitely a "hey, mom & dad, take a few hours off! Get a sitter!" kinda place.Wheelchair accessibility: Accomodating - but give them a heads up ahead of time. One of our guests had a walker and staff graciously helped her get situated, and stowed the walker while we dined.“

L & D Catering and Bistro Bistros • $
110 Old County Rd, Brisbane - 7.97 miles

“Even though the "Open" LED sign was turned off, L&D Bistro is actually open. I was the only customer at noon and then it became 1/2 full at 12:30pm. The thing about restaurants with the word "bistro" in the name always puts a smile on my face. It reminds me of the old TV sitcom Three's Company where Jack Tripper owned Jack's Bistro. That show was hilarious. There's none of that wackiness here though. I had the fried shrimp & calamari $13 as my appetizer. That was good. They put a bed of tomato red sauce on the bottom with some capers. It would have been better if there were tarter sauce available. Chef's choice I guess. It was still good. For my entree, I took advantage of the lunch special $14.50, which comes with a beer or a soft drink. My grilled Angus top sirloin steak came out well done'ish, even though I ordered it medium. It is challenging, to say the least, to cook that thin piece of meat right. Regardless, still good. It took about 35 minutes for the entree to come out if you have a limited timed lunch break like I do. You pay at the cashier when you are done, which is more efficient. Service was excellent.“

The Bistro - Eat. Drink. Connect.® Bistros •
550 Shell Blvd, Foster City - 4.29 miles

“The location was interesting. It was not easy to get into all the time. Most of the time, we had to do a u-turn to get into the driveway. Convenience wise, the location was great. There was a Starbucks and food within walking distance. Costco was across the street. The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious. The only strange thing about the room was the placement of the television relative to the bed. Most hotels have the television at the foot of the bed. The television was placed on the side of the bed. The layout of the furniture lent itself to the spacious feel of the room, though. I love hotels where the sink is outside the bathroom. You can get ready for bed or going out while someone is either taking a shower or using the toilet. The only issue I had was the toilet paper holder. Because it was loose, the toilet paper kept on falling when we tried to put any pressure on the roll. The staff was polite and helpful. We were given a parking permit, but there is no parking fee. There was plenty of parking. We were able to park close to our room, which is unusual. I would definitely stay here agin.“
