“Been going to Penny's since it was on Hacienda & Maplegrove (bout 25 yrs ago) Hadn't been in a while Had steak & eggs with HOUSE POTATOES and it was all so tasty & delicious!! Waitess was nice but seemed new. The only drawback was she seemed to get busy with a couple of other tables and didn't come back to our side for most of our stay. Waited for coffee refill until I was done with my food. Only one more person behind the counter. Overall a good experience based on the food...and that amazing house salsa!“

Service was slow with the beer as demand was high and the servers and bar staff were frantically filling orders for ? folks who were chugging away the green beer and other mixed drinks as fast as they were presented to the patrons. Patience was key and the bar and wait staff are ? Champs for working so hard on a Sunday St PADDY'S day. Beer and alcohol service for that day was also available outside on the patio. Enjoyed a cold one streetside with other friendly folks waiting to get a table. Once we were seated the wait staff was fast and polite. Drink order came around fast and surprisingly the food was just as fast too. I highly recommend this place for the fish and chips. Great batter, comes out crisp and light, good tarter sauce and their coleslaw is just the way I like it. Better yet they have one of my favorite Irish Cream Ales on hand Killkenny. Great Red Ale which is always on tap here throughout the year...Definitely coming back. My wife had ordered the same food dish and big thumbs up from her too...she doesn't drink alcohol so she ordered a Shirley Temple to which they served in a large beer ? mug which made her happy too. Would absolutely recommend this place as there is a great bar and restaurant atmosphere and setting in this quaint downtown setting of La Verne. Whomever created this should definitely update and mention that to enjoy the food you'll have to enter a more than likely packed restaurant to enjoy. I've yet to find a pizza place that uses that really gooey cheese that can stretch a mile, give you those SOLID 3rd degree burns on the roof of your mouth because you were too much of a fatty to wait for it to cool down a little, and have the absolutely perfect airy, bubbly crust! I drive from San Fernando to get pizza here. I happily brave the 210 parking lot to come get my pizza fix! The staff is super nice and welcoming. I take my pizzas to go only because recently, the inside has a really heavy natural gas smell that is impossible to ignore. I've convinced myself that it's one of the ingredients that makes the pizza so good! Lol! Aside from that, the food here is great!“

“Consistently great choose-your-own-pizza at Blaze in Azuza.I just love the concept of Blaze Pizza, where for the same price, you can choose as many toppings as you want, and have the pizza made while you wait. It's like it was made for me...but always had the sinking feeling that they couldn't make money doing it and would close soon after. Luckily for me, Blaze is still going strong many years after its founding. I try to give it as much business as possible.We came around lunch time, and there was no wait. You get into a Subway/Chipotle like assembly line and walk with the pizza artist as you pick your ingredients. Once complete, you pay, and then find a seat. The pizza is put into a 600+ degree oven which cooks it really fast..and the pizza is ready for you to eat in under 10 minutes. Once then, you self-bus....and they do a nice job of having to-go containers handy. The pizzas are easily enough to satisfy one really hungry person, or two to share.My wife ordered the 2-top pizza ($9.95) with bacon and pepperoni (they were out of the grilled chicken). I got a build-your-own ($12.25) and put a lot: fresh mozza balls, red onion, fresh mushrooms, pepperoni, cherry tomatoes, artichoke leaves, green pepper, pineapple, basil. My recommendation is ALWAYS get the fresh mozzarella balls (along with the shredded low moisture mozza)...it provides the creaminess that doesn't exist in most other fast food pizzas.This location had a great selection of tap beer, for a reasonable price of $6 and it went great with the pizza. I chose Fat Tire, but they ran out mid-pour, so got a Corona on top of that for no additional charge. Ice cold on a hot day, couldn't ask for more than that.“

“Went In for lunch with my wife. I had the teriyaki beef lunch special. It came with Miso Soup, small salad, teriyaki beer with steamed rice, and a crispa California roll. Food was good but my only gripe with it was that the steamed rice tasted a bit old and hard. I also asked for spicy Mayo to go with my sushi roll, but I never got it. The waitress didn't really check up on us, but overall the food was pretty good.“
