We've rounded up Davis' top Mexican spots for you to try.
“Its disappointing its not super busy when it deserves to be packed. Simple, picky-eater-proof, restaurant quality food for outrageously reasonable prices. Equivalent melt burger anywhere else, especially in this area, easily costs $13+. Plenty of variety that will have me coming back just to try it out. Place is well equipped for take-out, and has enough space should you want to eat-in for a quick bit. Yeah its a bit empty whenever ive walked by, and not exactly the greatest place to hang out and eat, but its situated by plenty of out-door seating to not be a total vibe-killer.Not extravagant or exotic, but it certainly feels like a genuine grassroots restaurant venture. More startup-like and less high-brow. Good food for the price regardless.Certified hidden-in-plain-sight gem that i hope sticks around for a while. Its gimmick is easy, good food and a broad menu. Its prices are better than most. Will be back“
“This place is the hole in the wall the excellent Mexican food you are looking for. Lots of locals and the hot sizzle grill invites you in. When you first step in you see masks of luchador and Aztecs warriors. It's cool. The people are super friendly too.“
“I like sitting outside, when the weather is warm and good. I went here several times, 2-3 occasions for beer or drinks daytime, 2-3 lunches, and one dinner. You can enjoy their drinks like draft beer or soda on the table outside between lunch and dinner time or on weekdays, as they are less busy. And they get you free chips and salsa. You can spend some great relaxing time, whle they dont offer happy hours. For lunch on weekends, their services can get slow, as I do not think they have enough number of employees/servers... you need to be patient sometimes.... bills for your lunch can be full $18-20 w/o tips, which is new normal these days. Their food quality is good enough to enjoy, not the highest quality, though. Overall, great place to visit for some decent Mexican food and some cold beer at the patio outside.“
“I Love, love, love this place! I love the menu options that el patio has. I mean davis has a small downtown area but they couldn't have chosen a better location. It is right across philz coffee and raising canes! My go to is surf and turf burrito! it is the best of both worlds. I love that they offer fresh chips and salsa, i mean what mexican restaurant in davis doesn't at this point. There is also surf and turf fries but i think i prefer the burrito version. I love that they are generous with their meat servings. I love how each bite equal parts, protein, carb and sauce! The chiliaquiles is also tasty. I think you can add chicken and I asked if I could add carne asada and they were able to accomodate that. can't go wrong with rice and beans tho! If you see a long line, scan the qr code and order online, I'm sure you will get your food much faster. There are plenty of seating options. you order first and sit wherever. No“
“Hey, it's me. Just wanted to drop in and say that this place is AMAZING. My soon-to-be fiance (shhh don't tell her) and I get the burritos with pastor, and they're always a reliable source of comfort. The service is super quick without sacrificing the food quality. The chips and salsa bar is absolutely stacked, complementing any meal you get. I hope that every student/resident in this city knows there's Taqueria Guadalajara Grill in South Davis, and it's definitely worth visiting. And please tip generously because the staff is so friendly. I almost consider them family.“
“We came all the way from San Francisco to have the most authentic and savory Mexican food.Quesabirrias and tongue, pork in green sauce verde and pastor tacos. They have a salsa bar and lots of good options to try. Everything tasted like home <3“
