“Came here on a Thursday night to enjoy a paella pop-up and it did not disappoint. Very good and innovative selections of wines along with a fun atmosphere. Especially appreciated the displays of vinyl and old videotapes. An excellent addition to the East Bay wine scene.”

“With prices going up, this is still a local staple at 6 something a sandwich. He packs my Bacon Bahn Mi with a good amount of meat! No cutting corners here :)

When I used to work in the area, I'd get their lunch plates they have wrapped up in the open fridge. Viet BBQ Chicken, Fried Egg Roll, and rice noodles are my go-to.

They also serve noodle soup, which a friend of mine way back said tasted like her mom's, very good; Chicken Pho.

Parking: If lot is filled there's always plenty of street parking”

“Steamed dumpling, Thaenthuk and their chowmein were so good. We ordered 3 curries, all three lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala and saag paneer had authentic taste as we ordered medium spicy. I think we could have also handled spicy level so would be coming back to try spicy. Their Tibetan food were best among many I tried in bay area.”

“An impressive array of vegan options (4/5 Green Stars) I would highly recommend trying out this Himalayan restaurant in El Cerrito. There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians and the quality every item we ordered was very high. I’ve had versions of each dish before but was impressed with Zomsa’s versions and rate Zomsa as one of the best Himalayan restaurants around. The Aloo Tikki (crispy potato cake with mint and tamarind sauces – vegan, $6) was a great start. The Vegetarian Jhol Momos (dumplings filled with kale, butternut squash, mushrooms, and spices, served in a sauce made from cashews and peanuts – vegan, $14) were really good. Often vegetarian dumplings have forgettable fillings, but I found these momos to be very thoughtfully made and satisfying. The Vegetable Thakali Thali was a great combination of several items that each added to the meal (veg curry, lentil soup, pickled daikon, sautéed mustard greens, and a papad – vegan, $17). Impressed by how satisfying these vegan dishes were – you wouldn’t even notice that the entire meal was plant-based. I’m giving Zomsa 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Even though there are several meat dishes, I was impressed by how much of the menu is not just vegetarian but vegan. More than a dozen main courses are vegan, along with several appetizers. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society. • Local beer is available on draft, mitigating packaging and transportation impacts. • The restaurant used to emphasize the use of organic ingredients, but I suspect that the prices became too high to sustain this in El Cerrito. Appreciate the effort though and hope that they still use some organic ingredients, when possible.”

“Please update your hours on Google. Food was good, ordered two rolls and gyoza. Tempura and Dragon roll. Service was nice but I do not feel they were ready for us when we walked in.”

“Hands down best Chinese food ever eaten by this mouth. ? can't say enough good things about the man who runs the shop here. If you ask for spicy he will. if you ask for extra spicy he will. Extra cooked (little crispier) he will. The place is take out/pick up only but it is hands down the best. I have been eating here for roughly 7 years and always get the same thing. Never disappoints. My order is shrimp fried rice extra spicy, Mongolian chicken, egg rolls extra cooked. ? sitting here with my order and couldn't believe I never left a review. We'll here it is my friends. “Look no further for the best bakery - We needed a perfect cake for my son's celebration of life and we were so pleased with the masterpiece that was created. It was movie star quality and the design work was top notch. My son loved sunflowers and succulents and Pam created the most perfect design. My daughter sat down with her and explained detail by detail. You could see all the love in her design. And the taste of this carrot cake was the best I have ever had and I have had a lot. Thank you Pam & Gayle for the best cake for my son Michael's celebration of life 🙏”

“This place is so worth it. My family has been going for 10+ years, almost since the beginning of the restaurant when it was in a different location. Aki-San will tell you when you’re eating something wrong, but it’s not mean-spirited. You should definitely ask him about his life and his journey to becoming a sushi chef. The sushi is the best you will ever have, even better than sushi I had when I visited Japan. It may be very expensive, but if you have the means it is extremely worth the price. Don’t ask for specific things, get what he recommends (but don’t be scared if you have diet restrictions to ask for something that works). Is is an amazing experience so if you go really enjoy it.”

“This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall place. The decor is bare bones, the place is old, but what they lack in atmosphere, they more than make up for in deliciousness.

I've been here a couple times and the food is consistently good. Always made fresh and pretty quick.

“Stumbled upon Gangnam while passing through the area and I’m glad we did, the Korean food here is homey and tastes just right. They do the classics well here as well ordered a tofu soup and a bibimbap, both of which were flavored well and a hearty portion.

The side dishes were authentic as well and we finished them all. Seating inside was a bit limited depending on the time of day and the staff were running around trying to take care of everyone but the food makes up for it. Prices were decent too so I’d recommend making a stop here if you’re in the area.”

My husband loved the peeking duck, and stated this is his new favorite Chinese restaurant!We also had the BBQ pork appetizer, chow mein, Mongolian beef, and sweet and sour chicken without veggies.The beef had more onions than meat but had great flavor, and the sweet and sour was just ok. Everyone enjoyed the BBQ pork.”

“Really nice place with good-quality Japanese cuisine. The rolls are really tasty and really big, you can get enough with just one set! The Seafood Udon that’s in broth is brought in a pot in which it was cooked, very authentic. The bento box is delicious! We tried sushi in so many places this place is the best of the best. We always come back only here when we really want a good and quality sushi. I recommend 100% Lion king is our fav. Greatly recommend as a lunch or dinner place, the service is really good and the meals were brought pretty quickly.”

“drinks are always good and it’s never a hit or miss. i always get the same thing but it’s always good or better than the last time never a one hit wonder! the sandwich i got which was the turkey avocado sandwich was okay. a lot of avocado and onion but little turkey. i’m sure you ask for your specific topping preferences that wouldn’t be a problem. found out about this place a couple weeks ago and have been a regular ever since. my new favorite boba place ever since the first time i came. highly recommend!
