“When specifically ask for chicken to be cut up into small pieces for a five year old to eat & you get back huge cuts of chicken a grown adult would have trouble biting it really annoying. However the food is excellent & conveniently located with decent size portions so that’s what keeps me coming back.“

“Masa Ramen BistroStopped off at Masa Ramen Bistro for an early Saturday dinner. Street parking, but it wasn't an issue. Only a handful of people in the restaurant. These are the dishes we ordered in descending order of my preference.Diamond Head - this ramen bowl is legit. Soup is rich and creamy. Noodles have a good chew to them. The flavor is great and you get a nice whole soft boiled egg.Broke the Mouth - we ordered a 3 out of 5 which was spicy but not knock me over spicy. It was kind of interesting with a mountain of shredded parmesan in there. Despite it being tasty, I think my preference would be a straight black garlic version (Kuni).POG - pretty sweet and tropicalDa Kine Chicken - the chicken was well fried and marinated. I don't think there was much seasoning on the breading though. Also thought the pairing with the ponzu sauce was a bit odd.Bruddah Brussels - these were brussel sprout halves, coated with panko and parmesan and fried. Hot and tender in the middle. Just wasn't working for our family and it largely went uneaten. Normally when we're getting fried brussel sprouts, they're crispy, greasy, well-seasoned, and gone faster than the Flash. All in all, I'm always ecstatic when I find a good bowl of ramen in the East Bay. They are just so few and far between. Definitely will come back for that and maybe try out some of the other appetizers.“

“My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant that I would describe as a "Partial arcade/Hawaiian gastropub," if you will. We found out about this place on Check Please, and it seemed strange from the episode, but I'm glad we gave it a shot. I really love the Hawaiian-influenced menu of this place! I got the Chicken Katsu Curry, which I loved everything about - the chicken was good quality and juicy, it was crispy, the curry sauce was flavorful and with a good kick, nothing crazy or too mild, and the rice was also fantastic - it came in this fun bowl shape, like they filled up a bowl to the brim with rice, and just flipped it over. However, the best part about the rice was that it was CRISPY on the sides! There was also a very happy sunny-side up egg on top, very nice touch. Huge wow - never had Chicken Katsu Curry like that before, and it was delicious. My husband and I shared the Spam Masubi, in which the spam was House made! It was good - on the smaller side compared to regular Hawaiian joints, but definitely gourmet, and definitely delicious. Fun to try. My husband ordered the Loco Moco for his entree, and he also really loved his dish. His rice with the dish was ALSO crispy, huge win. I don't have many vegan or vegetarian friends, but if I did, I'd probably suggest this place as an option. They have vegan/vegetarian options for almost anything - including the spam masubi, burger, banh mi, loco moco - pretty innovative IMO. It almost made me want to explore the options for myself! I forgot to write about the cool pinball machines, but honestly, I don't really play, and forgot they were there lol. But they do have Free Play Thursdays, which sounds pretty fun for those who do love to play. The ambiance of the restaurant is cute in that it has a retro feel with the old signs, pinball machines, decor and bar seating. One thing that really does bug me, which is why I don't give it 5 stars, is the family UN-friendliness it has. They are only open 5 days a week, and only 2 of those days are family friendly, meaning 18+ up on Thu/Fri/Sat. This is a huge bummer for my husband and I, who love bringing our daughter to restaurants any day of the week. We are well versed with the SF rules that is perfectly OK to bring your child of any age to any establishment that serves alcohol as long as there is food served. I guess this restaurant gets away with it because they technically DO allow children at their restaurant on CERTAIN days of the week. This is just frustrating for us families. I did read commentary from the restaurant management saying that it hurt their business that kids were allowed on weeknights - alright fine, it is what it is. But I will say that we do feel slightly discriminated against for not being able to dine on whatever day we please. Now we can only come here on Wednesdays and Sundays, wouldn't you be cranky too if you could only come here on Wednesdays and Sundays? Overall, I do really love this restaurant. I am looking forward to returning in the very near future, on Wednesdays and Sundays.“

“We made a reservation which cost $10 but we didn't make it in time so we missed our reservation but we were still able to be seated quickly. They were just two of us. On a Friday night..The vegan ramen was delicious and the rice pudding was as well.“

“Love this little mom and pop shop! My son runs in and is so happy when he knows we are coming here. The owners are lovely, friendly and very hospitable. The food is always fresh and absolutely delicious no matter what you order! Highly recommended!“

“I have been going to Moki’s for over a decade and could not recommend it more. Their food is delicious, and there is something for everyone (good vegetarian food too). In addition, the service is quick and amazing. My personal favorites are the avocado rolls and French fries.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly!“

“I did catering here and I'm glad that they open early on a Saturday as well as their online system, was smooth convenient to use. Kalua pork was too dry. If I knew, I would have opted for either crispy shrimp or chicken katsu. I wished that they had pork katsu so I would have ordered pork katsu and get a variety of chicken, beef and pork. BBQ chicken was nicely flavored and tender as well as their BBQ short ribs. They tried to be healthy with cabbage on the bottom and broccoli on each corner. I ate the veggies with the abundant meat. Macaroni salad was on point. Spam musubi and lumpias were added and nice starters. Portions are generous.Recommended spot - especially when feeding a village party!“

“This is at the top of the list for my sushi spots in the vicinity of Berkeley campus. The restaurant is relatively relaxed and quiet with indoor seating and, as a smaller place, the food can take a little longer to arrive (20-30 minutes). This is no dealbreaker but just something to keep in mind. The food itself exceeded all of our expectations. Splitting the sushi burritos into three, we didn't expect each one to be particularly sizable, but they're bigger than any of us expected and the flavors are spot on. I've had sushi burritos before, but they've always felt engineered, with the sushi part being an after thought. This place truly serves what I'd consider a sushi burrito. The three rolls we got were the golden spider, 49er, and mexico city spicy tuna roll. They were all great. Admittedly, I rarely think sushi is bad since it's my #1 comfort food, but this place sets itself apart by letting the flavors of the fish carry the bite. The 49er roll, for instance, tastes like a bite of fatty salmon adorned with other complimentary flavors, rather than a bite of rice and seaweed with an added bit of fatty salmon. There are a few other sushi spots in Berkeley but this is the one I'd go to. If you're a sushi lover, I bet this place won't disappoint!“

“Ordered poke from DoorDash and was very impressed by the quantity and the quality. A medium bowl was plenty (about $17 on DoorDash), size wise. I liked how I could add my 3 favorite things in - seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, and salmon. They even have unagi slices as an option! Sauces were good and wasn't too dry or too soaked. Toppings were good as well.“

“Super fresh poke and fresh salad greens in Berkeley! I also love that they offer macaroni salad and edamame as side options. I got a small and the portions were a bit small for the price but for the quality, I believe it's worth it. My only complaint is the sauces are a bit too salty and not savory enough - I'll have to go back and try some other sauce combinations.“

“I've ordered takeout from ILava a couple times on Doordash. Their orders have been tasty, with pretty good portion size relative to the price (these days). I've had their Chicken Combo Plate (Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki), Walnut Prawns and the Curry Chicken (BBQ Chicken with Curry Sauce instead of the teriyaki sauce). Their normal plates come with two scoops of rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. Compared to some of the other Hawaiian places in the area, this is probably one of my new favorites.“
“I was pleasantly surprised when this place popped up on my TGTG app and I decided to give it a try. Haven't had any poke ever since coming back from Oahu 2 years ago. It was a big box of fresh proteins when a variety of fish and shrimp. The staff was very friendly and it was very easy for me to find a parking spot. Will come back!“

“This has to be one of those hole in the wall Chinese spots that if you quickly drove by, you wouldn't have realized it was a gold mine! First off, quality of their food was amazing! After getting back home with our to go box, the fried food was still CRISPY. It was the crispy fish filet that sold us! Wow, batter was amazing, fluffy and did I say... crispy? Let's talk about the service, upon walking in I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello and smile by a younger girl who looked like she was probably helping her family's business, scooping away filing orders and still able to friendly greet me. Ambience was more to go style but they did have some tables and benches you'd be able to enjoy your food at. Parking might also be hard to come by since it's on a main busy street as well. We will be back to support!!“

“Located in the old Chinese Express spot (RIP) -- this place is clean and fast! Generous portions, and they have mini plates if you want less food. I imagine it's great for students living around there. Tried it on a whim, as I was really craving some chicken katsu. The only reason I am giving four stars and not five is because the chicken katsu sauce was lose money.... a total miss. It was watery, and didn't taste at all like the ketchup + worcestershire sauce mixture that katsu sauce is supposed to taste like. It was just weird. No big deal -- I just made my own -- but this is a critical part of a chicken katsu plate! Please fix this, Moku BBQ, so that people can properly enjoy chicken katsu. Otherwise, I was satisfied (as satisfied as I can reasonably expect to be, eating "Hawaiian BBQ" anywhere outside of Hawaii). If you're from Hawaii and want to eat katsu, you can get some passable katsu here -- but be prepared to make your own sauce.“

“Their chicken and rice is delicious I usually ask for no onions in my salad and they're able to work with me but not this last visit they weren't able to do so. Their food might be pricey by one plate usually lasts me two servings. Definitely recommend the teriyaki chicken Aloha plate.“

“Solid food! Was here before heading to the Honda dealership. Service was nice and speedy. Ordered a chicken teriyaki combo, that came with two scoops of rice, a heart portion of chicken, some broccoli and macaroni. Ambiance is not much to write about, very humble decor. But the food is a hit!“
“Tried the one inside The Oracle, recommended by a nice lady sitting in front of us (who said she looks forward to it every game and fish is fresh every day). Oooooh definitely a must! The ladies at the booth were nice. Service was fast and the food was delicious! Definitely fresh and simple but tasty!I wish there was a bit more greens that went with the generous amount of fish.“

“[Delivery] The teriyaki chicken is great, tastes very authentic Hawaiian and not too sweet. Exactly the texture you want for HBBQ. The beef is solid, and not overly fatty. The kahlua pork was good as well, though not as juicy as I'd prefer. In any case, glad to have found this place, and will definitely be ordering the teriyaki chicken again.“

“Update: "$20-30" is inaccurate/misleading. For 2, you can expect to spend $110 after tax and tip if you get one of their combos. The crab/shrimp/clam combo is $80.Excellent crab/clams/shrimp Cajun combo. Even mild was quite spicy. Gave me a HUGE stomach ache the next morning (due to the spice) but I still want to go back. Will just have to take some Tums/Pepto.Vegetarian options: Definitely avoid this place if you are vegetarian“

“What is there to even say. This place is the template for all great tiki restaurants. Drinks are always perfect. Food is great. The staff is amazing. If some developer ever builds a soulless cement box on this spot, we will all have lost a piece of culture.“
