“My husband and I really enjoyed our first visit here. The bartenders were really nice and welcomed us. The beer selection is great - they have all kinds of different beers. There’s definitely a favorite for everyone. I really enjoyed their own brewed Kölsch. We highly recommend a visit“

Oat Bakery Bakery • $
231 Magnolia Ave, Goleta

“Love many of the small meal offerings here. Don't love the coffee, not a fan there. Occasionally the bean dishes have caused excessive gas while at other times this does not happen. So wondering a bit if food is always carefully prepared? Now have to use caution in eating them, hoping it was a temporary issue.Have not ordered their breads, will give that a go. What I've had in sandwiches, ect is yummy.Tried some of their unique canned drinks, mixed bag there for me.Would love to see more variety/options on the menu esp as I've ruled out items that are not for me.Overall delighted and encouraged with the whole food approach.“

Centennial Beer Hall Beer Bar • $

“Centennial Beer Hall is my favorite place to grab a beer with friends in Old Town Goleta. Located right on the main road of Hollister, Centennial has plenty of seating indoors and an outside patio. With a wide selection of beers, from different breweries, they are sure to have something that you'll enjoy. If you're not sure what to get, the owner is always there and gives out great recommendations!I'd definitely check out Centennial Beer Hall the next time you and your friends want to get together for some drinks!“

Draughtsmen Aleworks Brewery • $
53 Santa Felicia Dr, Goleta

“My wife and I live locally and have been to Draughtsmen Aleworks before, but it has been a long time. So just recently we stopped by for a couple of beers. It wasn’t busy because it was early afternoon, but we happened to strike up a conversation with some other friendly locals and members. The beers were great and the atmosphere along with the company. It’s dog friendly and very welcoming. So , on a lark, I highly recommend visiting Draughtsman Aleworks with its friendly staff and local customers !“

“Maybe just had a bad experience here as the other dune on Storke road was great, but this time I was given a cold stale bagel and waited about 15 minutes for a tea bag to be placed in water for almost ten dollars. Atmosphere is good, and I know this place can provide great quality, so I’m chalking it up to bad luck when I visited the day after new years.“

“I love fresh fish and since moving from Hawaii to here it's been impossible to find locally. Most of the places I've gone to have been middling at best, some I would just call serving bait. Nikka serves a tempura style fish that was cooked perfectly with a light batter coating The fish was fresh and firm as it should be. I heartily recommend Nikka and we'll be back soon for more.“

M Special Brewing Company Brewery • $$
6860 Cortona Dr Building C, Goleta

“This is an M.Special place. ? Apologies for the Dad joke, but it's true.In the past few years, I’ve gotten to know most of the local brewers and many of their brews through work and pleasure. This town has a lot of good locally brewed beer, but I'm simply nuts about M.Special's Sabado Tarde. I lived in Isla Vista from high school through college, where this tangerine ale gets its name. It’s a street a block away from Del Playa, where I lived. I suspect it may be where some Millers and Malloys may have lived while attending UCSB. It may not be grammatically correct Spanish for “Saturday afternoon,” but it’s one of the smoothest-tasting lagers I’ve ever had.Josh, the brewer, has worked magic with a flavor that some refer to as a Blonde or Golden Ale. For me, that mostly refers to its color, not taste.[Gratuitous aside: While I’m generally upbeat, I’m not a hoppy person. I truly cannot drink IPAs. They have a very sour aftertaste my Irish palette can’t stand. Like or dislike of hops is a genetic marker. I must have a broken chromosome, as I’m definitely in the minority regarding the IPA rage these days. I felt it fair to duly confess that. I should also note that for the vast, hoppy-go-lucky majority who love a strong, hippity hoppity beer, M.Special makes a lot of good IPAs, and could probably advise commodity traders on grain futures.]Meanwhile, what’s irresistible about Sabado Tarde is that unlike Mexican lagers, which I also like (and M.Special does well), the aftertaste of this tangerine ale is not bitter. But it’s also not too sweet like some blondes (and brunettes) can be. As such, it’s really hard to stop drinking! One smooth sip after another––and suddenly––more than a few pints are sloshing happily around your belly. When I was not at M.Special, or other locales where it was on tap, I found myself buying cans to keep in the fridge at home. But as my love affair grew into what one might call an obsession, I began buying kegs from the Goleta location. The kegerator in my garage has never been in better spirits.Okay, you get the drift. It’s good beer. M.Special makes a lot of good beer. Their well-deserved motto is “Good Beer, Every Time.” And plenty of IPA is on tap for those seeking that kind of hoppiness. But the thing that never ceases to surprise me is that every time I go in there to trade an empty keg for a fresh, full one, there’s always a cluster of customers wearing M.Special hats and clothing. It’s like going to an NFL game and sitting in the home section where almost no one is wearing anything other than team logo apparel. It’s impressive. Clearly, there’s a fan base. The location in Goleta is definitely a destination. They don’t get their business from foot traffic, like the State Street location. The first time you go there, it’ll feel like your GPS is on the fritz as you drive past warehouses, corporate headquarters, and machine shops. But when you get there, it’s a fantastic spacious space. I’ve been there on nights when they have live bands and dancing outside, and you’ll never feel claustrophobic. Inside, they have one of the longest, most extraordinarily beautiful, natural wooden countertop bars I’ve ever seen. According to the website, local wood carving specialist John Birchim created the longest bar in SB County made from a single piece of fallen Monterey Pine from Big Sur.But even more beautiful than all of that is the staff. I wish I could remember everyone’s name, but even when they’re overwhelmed, these lovely people keep their cool, they smile and make you feel that this is your place. This is your corner bar, your pub down the road. Whether it’s Kennedy, or Madison, or Nolan, or John, or Michael, or Tori, it’s your team. You feel like they care and like their jobs.Perhaps that’s why so many customers keep returning wearing their shirts and hats.“

“Food was good. Got 2 tacos one of chorizo and one of pastor. We also got 2 tortas de milanesa, flavor and size of food was good. Wish they had a little bit more variety of salsa. We added beans to our tortas which for us always makes them better. The tacos had hand-made tortillas which we really liked. The place could use some music for a nicer atmosphere so it’s not so quiet. Besides that we would go there again.“

“The coffee is honestly super overpriced for what you get, but it's definitely a good place if you prefer a less sweet coffee. Their matcha especially I found is a bit stronger and less artificial. The lines are usually long on the weekends as it's the perfect study spot, so good luck getting a seat inside! They do have some cool drinks to try out though, and I recommend getting your drink with oat milk since it's made in house which is pretty cool!“

“Went here on a Sunday morning and it was packed! We were able to score a booth that had a table added to it to fit our party of 7.The jambalaya and eggs (with the side of cornbread) were amazing! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the dish overall had a nice little kick, but wasn't too spicy. It was savory and went well with the sweet cornbread added to it. I would 100% order again. The coffee is from a local SB roaster, so that is a must! Plus, do yourself a favor and order the table a plate of beignets! The service was very nice and accommodating! I would recommend this little gem of a breakfast place.Parking: Parking was really crowded and small, especially on Sunday mornings. I was able to find a spot after waiting a few minutes, but the rest of my party had to park elsewhere. There is free parking across the street, which I would recommend. The free parking lot of the establishment fools you into thinking that there is extra space, but there isn't AND it is hard to turn around and get out if you are stuck.“

Break Time Bar • $
5977 Encina Rd, Goleta

“This is a neighborhood dive bar. Okay that's what it is, the drinks are very stiff and cheap. The seats are worn, and the clientele local and regular. If you come here often, they treat you well, which is what you want in a neighborhood dive bar. All of these 1-star reviews b*****g about the aforementioned aspects of this place seem to be from very basic batches complaining, literally, about us, the clientele as being somehow "weird" and the bartenders as being somehow inattentive. I'm guessing these are not people who frequent dive bars, but that's the vibe. Sorry. If you don't like it, go to a craft brewery. No basic batches allowed here.“
