Rio Crest Winery •

“Amazing experience! The view is astonishing! Our group enjoyed every wine we tasted so much that we had to take some home for us and as gifts. We love wine and this wine was delicious. The hosts, Peggy and Kevin were so sweet and fun, it was a private tasting but it also felt like we were with family. They both made it so enjoyable. We learned so much about local wines from them. The house is gorgeous and they are lovers of art which added to the experience. Not to mention Kevin played a great playlist for us and it felt like a party.I Can’t wait to come back with more friends and family to share this with.“

Spicy Vines Winery Wineries • $$
441 Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg - 10.21 miles

“I spent a lovely afternoon listening to live music, enjoying their Zin Master zinfandel, and loving the friendly and comfortable vibe. It is truly a family business, and the great flavor of the wine reflects the care they take in everything they do. It is a small and very comfortable tasting room. Customer service is top notch. I enjoyed the pesto, provolone and prosciutto panini. We spent a lot of time last summer going to wineries that our visitors chose. I wish I knew about Spicy Vines then! I'll be back soon. (They also make brandy and serve great beer for those in your group who aren't into wine.)“

MacRostie Winery Estate House Winery •
4605 Westside Rd, Healdsburg - 7.6 miles

“We didn't get to spend as much time at MacRostie than we probably would have liked, but my friend dumped a whole glass of red wine right onto his pants. But our time there with Corey was great. He was very friendly and welcoming, and explained a lot about the various wines we tried. He procured a charcuterie box for us as we were starving around lunch time and it really hit the spot. We sat outside looking towards the road and it was a beautiful day. Overall an excellent experience.“

Barbera

“Portalupi offers a number of wines that diverge from most of what you'll find at the majority of wineries in northern Sonoma County. Starting with a Barbera-based sparkler (a little drier, please). After wading through a couple of decent dry whites (Arneis, Vermentino), and skipping some of the lighter reds, we moved on to some of the bolder offerings: Barbera, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo-- all winners. Dolinsek Pinot was a nice surprise; a departure from the rest of the (Italian) lineup. The host of our group of six was friendly, informative and engaging, with just the right balance between taking us through the flight and giving us space to socialize among ourselves and discuss the wines“

Heard the live music from the street which drew our attention into this establishment. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the wine (Pinot and Sparkling) was. I'll need to look into this winery a little more as there's some serious winemaking going on. We'll be back!!“

Smith Story Wine Cellars Wineries • $$

“Love this spot! Super cute tasting room in a shared complex with great wines and ambiance! Started by an incredible husband-and-wife team, Smith Story wines are so thoughtfully made and really overdeliver for the price. I loved the new Filigreen Farm Pinot Noir, and the Cab Franc and Sparkling are always in my rotation. The tasting room itself is a super cute space. Dusty provided us with excellent service and knowledge, ensuring we had a ton of fun on our stop. There are quite a few different places to sit and there's a wood-fired pizza stand in the complex, if you want to eat while you taste. Definitely check out Ali's curation of vintage glassware while you're there (if only I could've taken it all home with me), and take a pic with the mural wall on the patio. My only regret is that I don't live in the area to make Smith Story my regular hangout!“

Soda Rock Winery Winery •
409A Healdsburg Ave, Healdsburg - 10.19 miles

“Wonderful little tasting room in downtown Healdsburg in the square. My husband and I drove up from Sacramento to meet his sister and brother in law. We ended up being pretty early so decided to pop in to kill some time because why not? We were the first people in so we got started immediately. I was handed a little menu showing what they offer and what tasting flights they had. I am a big red fan so I went that route. The lady helping us out was SO sweet and we ended up talking with her like we knew her for years which really made for a memorable first experience. It was becoming quite difficult for me to choose which I liked between the pours so she gave me two glasses and poured two wines so that I could compare. I had never seen that before and thought it was really thoughtful and it really helped me find what I liked best. I really appreciated that she left the bottle next to the glass as well so I could remember what I was tasting. As time went on other couples came in to pick up their wines as there was a pick up party at another winery in the square and we ended up meeting another couple from Sacramento! If it weren't for our lunch reservations, I could have stayed there all day and now I'm on a mission to find their winery.“

“My husband and I had an exceptional wine tasting provided by Kyle. It was their wine club pick-up party so they were not initially taking walk-in tastings. As we were headed out to their other location, a gentleman ran to fetch us saying they could accommodate our tasting - which we thought was incredible customer service. In a very busy environment, Kyle provided our tasting, full of knowledge and good conversation. The wine was an added bonus as it was delicious - and don’t forget about the cheese pairing! Comstock Wines Wineries • $$
1290 Dry Creek Rd, Healdsburg - 10.56 miles

“Don't mind me, just casually in love with Comstock Wines. Upon arriving and walking through the breezeway towards the outdoor tasting grounds, I could tell I was gonna like the vibe here, and that was before the welcome pour of bubbles! We headed into the tasting room to check in to taste, we didn't have a reservation but they were happy to accommodate us. As mentioned, we were given a welcome pour of bubbly, my mom doesn't like bubbles and didn't plan to taste, but she was still given a welcome pour of her choice of two different white wines they had open!We went outside and picked where we wanted to sit, then were given the run down and tasting options by our tasting associate, Jason. We then enjoyed our welcome pours while deciding what to do. Though I typically go for the mixed flight option, their red flight wines were really speaking to me, and I'm glad I listened. Glasses were brought out then wines were brought out 2 at a time. I enjoyed learning about the grapes, where they came from, and everything else that was shared with us. Jason was extremely knowledgeable and fun to chat with. The property was spectacular. It was well maintained, the views were beautiful, and I loved that you were able to walk around to really experience it. I ended up going home with 3 bottles of wine, one of which has already been consumed before writing this review. Highly recommend Comstock if you want good wine in a beautiful setting, and with great service.“

We had a wonderful afternoon talking with Katherine while she poured many of their wines for us. We also got a chance to talk with the winemaker, Lucas Meeker and really enjoyed learning so much about their wines and the processes he uses. No understatement: THEIR WINES ARE AMAZING! Their tasting room is a little bit hard to find but totally worth it. They were very welcoming and willing to share their wines and knowledge with us. We went home with two cases of wine: one of RollerCoaster Red and an assortment of all their other reds. Worth adding this winery to your tasting afternoon.“

You'll want to write home to your parents to tell them you are moving in with the chardonnay and planning your new life together.
