“What an experience! We took my daughter and her two friends here. Collectively we represent Philadelphia, Seattle, and Atlanta. Nothing we have had before compares to this food. We started with the biscuits. These biscuits are poem worthy. The best any of us have ever had. The shrimp and grits were the best two of us have ever had. Atlanta said they were great, but her allegiance to a loved one kept her from saying they were the best. The rest of the food is so uniquely its own that there really is nothing to compare it to. The flavors were amazing. Our server took great care of us, and even the chef came out to check on everyone. You can really feel the love in this place, and most importantly, in the food.“
“Baaaaybaaaaaaay let me tell you! This was my first time here. The catfish was amazing the cabbage, greenbeans, and kool-aid FIRE!!!!!! but the mac and cheese and yams!!!!! Listen I'm 32! And have had many restaurant versions but these!!!!!! Hands down Are/were the BEST SIDES OF YAMS AND MAC AND CHEESE i have ever had!!!! Sweet baby Jesus!! It was soo good!!! I'll definitely be back!“
“The atmosphere or ambiance is excellent. It's a small community restaurant with excellent food. The only reason for the 4 is it was a bit cold inside.Vegetarian options: Almost all menu it's have a vegan and or vegetarian option.Parking: Street parking“
“LOVE the torta Nona. They said they needed more business and I've tried posting on social media/tagging them but don't respond/share/maximize the word of mouth. Hoping they find ways to draw in that business! We're missing out if we don't have them on this block! Only gave it four Stars for atmosphere because it's on a busy street and it's pretty difficult to cross either on foot or in a car.“
“Fixins is always a great time! From the moment you enter to when you leave, you're being warmly greeted by security and staff. The food and drinks are delicious, the DJ is always on point with the music and the atmosphere as a whole is always nice.“
“I like how the place is set upI came from around the backTo drive in so I parked went insideLike the rest of the neighborhood doAnd the first thing I see is this bigSign about keeping loitering off theproperty so I contacted the managerAnd informed them of there was no panhandling around that place nowhereand how I felt so comfortable being acustomer I shopped and spent like around $415.00“
“My wife and I came by here for a family get together and had a blast. The food was absolutely delicious. We love sides and had the Mac & cheese, collard greens and my favorite, the black eyed peas and rice aka The Rolling Johns. The owners really make the place special, and we were fortunate enough to have a quick conversation with one of the owners Chef. You can feel the love in the food and the building. Hands down the best soul food I’ve had in Los Angeles.“
“Clean, cute, good service, yummy. I got the Bachos which like a Jamaican nachos. I never had Jamaican food to know but I liked it. Salty for me but I don't add salt to anything and the Frito type chips already come that way I think. I got the lentil as my protein, which was like crumbled falafel. The cheese sauce was like a salad dressing texture and flavor. Reminded me of Cesar salad dressing. I think I found a raisin in there and I didn't mind. Would definitely come back. Thanks for feeding this vegan passing by the area.“
“When I tell you I haven’t even LEFT THE RESTAURANT BEFORE WRITING THIS REVIEW. Food? Bomb. Service? Bomb. Music? Bomb. Vibes? Bomb. But really everyone is SO nice. AND THE FOOD. I’m from Houston so we be eatin and LORD THIS BURRITO… I wish everyone could try it.“
“Fantastic experience! Such friendly and attentive staff from host to servers to chefs. Sat at the chef’s counter and had the best time watching and interacting with the chefs. The food was absolutely delicious as were the cocktails. My only regrets were that I got the most popular items on the menu (fried chicken/collards - despite being delicious) and didn’t venture into some of their more unique dishes, like the wood grilled fish (chosen daily) with yassa sauce or the sweet potato dumplings, and that I didn’t have a chance to try the wine bar first because they had a private party. I had a bite of the off menu bread pudding which was ridiculous and also found their sauces a must try (esp the homemade apple bbq and spicy herb sauce). I couldn’t recommend Alta Adams more and can’t wait to come backDietary restrictions: Looked like great vegan gumbo“
“I try to have some healthy food for lunch near my office. W kitchens is hidden spot. Honestly I didn't expect food is so great but Cauliflower with sweet chilly sauce is very tasty. I am happy to have that and know this place. I will try to have Cajun seafood next time.“
“This place has some very delicious ? and ?. Their customer service is great!!! You don't even have to wait that long for your order. The only thing about going here in this area?? is when you pull up in the parking lot there is always about 2-3 young men that are standing out in the parking lot. Which make it alittle uncomfortable to go there.Parking: Their is always like 2-3 young.men just standing around in the parking area. Which is very uncomfortable.“
“The manager Joshua was super polite..., but the bartender Tony was absolutely outstanding. Tony's attention to detail and checking up on customer was just completely amazing I would recommend a raise for the gentlemen. I'm definitely gonna recommend da buene Planta to friends and family cause these two employees were just too fabulous.“
“I work nearby and I’ve been craving something sweet so I picked up some banana pudding from here and it was SO GOOD! It was the perfect amount of sweetness, bananas were good and the wafers still had texture to them. If that was just the dessert, I can’t wait to come back for the food!“
“First time trying Annie's out. Found her from a video on YouTube that a guy posted. Bunch of guys sitting around eating what looked like the most amazing food. I paused the video to see what the sticker said and immediately Google this place.Well she did not disappoint and its safe to safe to say I AM NEVER COOKING FOR THE HOLIDAYS AGAIN! My family could not stop talking about the dinner.I had been craving oxtails and hers are BOMB. Not only was it delicious and as if my own 93 year old grandmother made it but it was packaged perfectly. The greens were seasoned to perfection and the short ribs you could cut with a spoon. We will now be trying out everything lol. Thanks Annie for coming through for my family!“
“There is something on the menu for everyone!Vegetarian options: The salmon croquettes are delicious!Dietary restrictions: You can order your food the way you need it to be.Parking: This is an outdoor shopping center with ample parking.Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu, but the menu is so vast get an extra plate and fees them off of yours for the younger ones!Wheelchair accessibility: You can navigate a wheelchair here.“
“This place is perfect. Friendly service, absolutely delicious everything. Machaca and beef was so good, plantains were PERFECTION, juice was fresh and the coffee is such a good classic strong flavorful cup it's like... bewildering. So happy this place is a staple of my neighborhood and so close by. Always an eclectic group of diners present and now I get why!“
“Generally I have a good experience. I like to get the 6 (or 8?) piece tender meal and have it for dinner and then reheat the leftovers. The fries have good seasoning, the biscuit a good consistency (don't know if it's right to say doughy but I like it with honey) and the blueberry shake is tasty. This time I got a side of cornbread and holy cow - it was the worst cornbread I've ever had. I don't know if an ingredient was forgotten but it was dry, bland and just gross. Really disappointed cause I love good cornbread haha.“
“My husband convinced me to go to Brown's for lunch as l am not a real BBQ fan and really fussy about my cat fish. Indoor seating is limited but the food will knock your socks off. The fried catfish was the best I have had since Louisiana. It was deep fat fried but crispy on the outside and very tender and moist on the inside. I ate some of my husband's lunch. I had ribs and they were very tender and especially good flavor without being super spicy. The baked beans were good as well and the Mac and cheese was hot, not spicy hot, and was very good as well. It was like having a picnic and not having to do any of the work. Looking forward to our next visit. Small and quirky but a real treat.“
“Auntie Beulah's isn't just a meal, it's an experience. From the fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits to the hella hot biscuit's fiery kick, every bite was a flavor explosion.Let's start with the star of the show: the poutine gravy fries. Creamy, cheesy gravy blanketing perfectly crispy fries - it's the ultimate comfort food, elevated. The chicken tenders were juicy and perfectly seasoned, offering a delicious crunch with each bite. For a sweet treat, the French toast sticks were heavenly. Dipped in maple syrup, they were soft, fluffy, and the perfect way to satisfy a sweet tooth. But wait, there's more! The smothered biscuits were smothered in rich, flavorful gravy, making them a hearty and satisfying dish. And the cheesy grits? Oh my, the cheesy grits! Creamy, cheesy, and oh-so-good, they were the perfect side to any dish.Speaking of sides, the banana pudding was a delightful ending to the feast. Fresh bananas layered with creamy pudding and whipped cream - it was the perfect touch of sweetness to top off an incredible meal.A special shoutout to the hella hot biscuit. This one packs a punch! If you love spicy food, this is definitely for you. It's not for the faint of heart, but for those who dare, it's a flavor adventure worth exploring. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warm and inviting atmosphere. Auntie Beulah's is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where you can feel the love and passion poured into every dish. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu!Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for delicious Southern comfort food with a modern twist. 5 stars all around!P.S. You won't regret ordering everything I mentioned, but if you have to choose, the poutine gravy fries and hella hot biscuit are must-tries!“
“short review: "AMAZING!!!!" long review: "What time is it right now as you are reading this? Is it between the hours of: Fri 9:00 pm - 2:00 am or Sat 9:00 pm - 2:00 am or Sun 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm? Are you perusing yelp indecisively? About to give up and go get fast-food, drive-thru again? Hook yourself up and go here instead... (Seriously though, when I was driving home from picking up my take-out I drove by a Carl's Jr. with a line of cars waiting and I thought to myself, "These people are really missing out on No Reservation right now." This is coming from someone who likes Carl's Jr. too!) I've had the crab soup, crab legs, coconut rice, asparagus, mac and cheese, bread pudding, corn on the cob, and everything was exceptional. I think the crab soup w/ coconut rice and the bread pudding can't be beat though. If you're just going to try one or two things make it one of those. Also I have to say I can't wait to try the rest of the menu too! I'll be back every weekend. (I've been here twice, both times during quarantine and I've had no problems. The place is super clean, it's easy to park on the street, there aren't a lot of people out so you can just zip in and be back home and eating real quick.) At first I was being selfish and not wanting to post about this place, keep it to myself, but then I thought maybe so many people will come to this place and they will be a huge success, expand and be open everyday and have multiple locations and we can eat No Reservation anytime! Best of luck!“
“They gave you a nice size portion . Maybe because I went right when they were closing. However the food was delicious. I will definitely return. I had smothered pork chops, Mac and cheese, greens . My baby had fried chicken, greens , and masked potatoes. I loved the food.“
“I went for lunch with a friend during the week. It was near the holidays, so pretty empty. There was one guy working the tables and the service was fine (he was friendly but took his time to come over). They definitely give you large portions, which I was happy about. I had the jambalaya and my friend ordered the salmon croquettes. Both were seasoned well and the accompanying corn bread was delicious. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the chicken in my jambalaya had a slightly rubbery, processed taste/texture. Maybe I had a bad batch but to have such an important ingredient not work left me slightly disappointed. But I still enjoyed myself enough that I would go back again. I'd just have a different dish.“
“This review is long and overdue!I have to say one of the best riz collé and griot I had in a very long time. The food was really good and outstanding! It reminds me a lot of my home The food was very delicious mon chai! Best Haitian Creole food in LA! I'm the big drop!!“
“Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles is a place you must visit to cross off your bucket list at least once to see what the hype is ALl about. If you're visiting for the first time, I would recommend trying "Scoe's" 1/4 chicken or the "Herb's" 1/2 chicken entrée. It all really depends on how hungry you are. They are essentially the same, except the Scoe's is smaller, while the Herb's has more chicken. They both come with 2 waffles. You have the choice of white meat or dark meat chicken.Pictured is the Scoe's special, mac and cheese, and Biscuits and gravy.I recommend eating the chicken with Louisiana hot sauce, dipping your chicken in syrup, and eating the chicken together with the waffle. Their waffles are amazing. They are made with Roscoe's own private mix.You can also try their chicken with some of Roscoe's own personal hot sauce bottles. They make different ones than the go-to Louisiana hot sauce. You can buy some of their hot sauce bottles and a T-shirt to take home at their locations. I've been to two different locations, the Hollywood and South Central Manchester locations.Neither of them disappoint.I used to frequent Roscoe's regularly about 10 years back when i was in town for shows or visiting the old Amoeba location. This place hasn't changed much. Still bomb!Wait times may vary.Parking is either super easy or somewhat difficult to find. Depending on the time you are showing up, it can get very busy. There are paid parking meeters on Gower Street. Depending on the day and time, the meeters are free. You should be able to find parking around the area. A short walk to a delicious meal never hurts. Also, the "obama special" was pretty popular.I added 3 pictures taken with my film camera. Enjoy the HollyHood location!Parking: Street parking is free at certain times and days. Please read signs to acknowledge if you're able to park for free“
“So happy we decided to take a detour and get some amazing fried chicken, waffles and grits! I was craving the chicken and waffles and my wife was craving the grits so what better compromise than Roscoe's?!? Food was better than i had anticipated which is always a plus. The service was fantastic. Atmosphere was honestly not what i expected, but then again I'm not entirely sure what it was that i expected! Sweet tea was done right and on point. Wife loved her grits! Definitely recommend this spot when in LA!“
“The food is excellent and seasoned to perfection. But I'm writing this review about the outstanding customer service. After ordering online, I picked up my order and upon getting home I realized the order was incorrect. I called and talked to the lovely Tosha who admitted the restaurant's mistake (wrote down the order wrong), apologized, and offered me a free meal to make up for the mistake. Genuinely some of the best customer service in Los Angeles - I am so impressed. I can't thank you all enough. I was already a fan and loyal patron but this sealed the deal. Please support this business!“
“So, I decided to give this spot another try since the food was good first time. This time I opted to call at 530pm.... Google says open until 9pm. She said "We are closed! "Wtf it's 530! She said ok, I will take your order ...I said well I am driving 40 min away...she said okay! How sweet.., I asked for 1 oxtail dinner and 1smothered steak. Asked for yams and greens and mac and cheese. I got 3 sides Mac and greens only. Still grateful to, because I told her I only had some of the cash and she said it's ok and kindly sent me home! Main issue I have is ....I didn't get ANY gravy at all I had a comfort food craving and that entails lots of smothered gravy. I had to come home and make some gravy. I believe they have new owners because the name changed to Sol of Los Angeles. There is a buffet in Gardena...it's written on the wall!****Owners ****please update the hours on line ,I drove really far and they were closing hours earlier. I included a screenshot of the information given. I just tried the smothered steak I used to love and this one today is dry, unflavored and hard with no gravy. Oxtails we're very small and minimal, no gravy and overpriced for the value. Both these items total close to $40....“
“I finally got a chance to try this taco truck out. I have been seeing it all on instagram so I wanted to support this black owned business and also know if it lived up to the hype? Yes! First the service is great everyone was friendly and helpful. Also I didn't wait long. I want to say at the max I waited 6 or 7 minutes for my order to be ready. I ordered the LAtryguy special $27 + $1 for card. Which comes with 2 enchilada parm tacos (I got 1 steak and 1 chicken no olives or cilantro) and parm Doritos tacos (1 ground turkey and 1 chicken no onions or tomatoes) and a large kool-Aid fruit punch All of them were good but my favorite is the chicken and I did like the enchilada tacos the best. Very flavorful. My only con was the price. I felt like damn near $30 for 4 tacos is a bit much. To where I couldn't see my self coming here often to spend that on a regular. The food and service was really good and the kool-aid was the best I've ever had. But the prices will make me pause in returning.“
“Wow the chicken is so delicious from here . I had the spicy friend chicken sandwich. So fresh and crispy. Nice balance of spicyness and crunch. Bella has excellent customer service , she sold me on the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. It was small on the inside but clean and comfortable. I will come back also because they are open late .“
